I hope the late great Bobby Caldwell who made this song a hit in the 1970’s and who just passed in March 2023 would have enjoyed hearing DSmooth sing his song.
I would definitely pay to see this man in live concert if they don't give him a record deal after this show I don't even care if he doesn't win this show they better give him a good record deal I can already imagine all the features and collaborations he would be doing with so many famous artists he already looks like he's a famous artist feature on the show and not one of the contestants this man is so good I only watch this season because I wanted to go for Niall but now I'm going for D Smooth I don't care whose team he's on 😂

I did a bit of research. This song came out in 1978. He made it sound like it came out tonight and it was our first time hearing this song. Such a cool arrangement and loved how they replaced a lot of the horns with more electronic sounds

To each his own. It's an old school song, the horns are an integral part of Bobby Caldwell's original tune and to me, of this song. "The original and still the best" applies here but, props to Smooth for his excellent vocal

D.SMOOTH did a fine job here. Bobby Caldwell wrote and performed this song originally. It was his biggest hit. He was put into a genre labeled BLUE-EYED SOUL. He was white but his singing voice was often mistaken as being black. There are many reaction videos on yt of people learning for the first time that he was a white singer.
