No matter how many centuries may pass, how many floods and hurricanes may come, a corner of that field will always be forever England. Rest in peace my brave lads. You did all that could be expected of you.
No matter how many centuries may pass, no matter how many floods and hurricanes may wash away the soil, a corner of that field will be, forever ours. Rest in peace our brave boys.
🇬🇧🇺🇸 Brothers in arms they go over the hills and far away
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam;
A body of England’s, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
A British song sung to the era of the War of 1812 in America. The last shots fired between two great nations.
What a wonderful blend of music and images! I enjoyed this very much.
This event was the highlight of my reenacting career.
My 4th great grandfather fell at the battle of St.Claires defeat.I am sure that he died fighting for what he believed in.🇬🇧🏴
good
Watching reenactors you would think everyone in 1815 was very well fed ahaha!
the part tha he said stay but its strey
Very nice
At New Orleans we made them run the other way
they ran o'er the hills and far away, some say they are still running to this day
Not as fast as they ran at Bladensburg Brother Jonathon!
+Gareth John who's capital got sacked though?
Liam Edgell and who is the one who had the invading army ended up in a tornado after burning said capital hmmmm
More running done by the Americans during the whole war. Please look at the casualty stats and prisoner records. For Britain this was a small extension of the Nepoleonic Wars.
