I prepare my apple butter like my mom , grandma etc did.
Cook it overnight in a large roasting pan in the oven.
Since I live off grid I actually use my gas grill, with a paver over grid set to lowest temp on the 2 outside burners to do apple butter.
HINT : for a wonderful flavor during last part of the process i put soaked wood chips wrapped in foil poke holes in foil to add hint of smoke flavor. I have also added apple brandy, regular brandy etc in place of some of the liquid. It turns out great

I'll be making this apple butter later this week. Your canning tutorials are so good and easy to follow! And I'd like to add that I appreciate how clean and uncluttered your kitchen is. I have to quit watching tutorials on other channels because their kitchen just turns me off, but yours always appears spotless.

Years ago my family had an elderly gentleman friend who made his own apple butter, but he did it on a wood burning stove, which is how he cooked all of his food because he didn’t have an electric stove (and didn’t want one). I LOVED his apple butter and the store bought stuff just doesn’t taste as good. Thank you for your video!

Apple butter actually relieves my menstrual cramps and helps make my periods much more bearable. Go figure. Maybe it's the spices. My gynecologist doesn't believe it, but my husbands do. They have to live with me and know what a bear I can be at that time of the month if I don't have my apple butter. Great video. I will try your recipe.

I ordered a canner today thanks to your recommendation. I ordered the small one that only steam cans. When watching tube I learned to can meatloaf. After doing so I also learned that canning meatloaf is not safe as it’s possible the process will not go completely into the center of the loaf. Any thoughts on that? My full cans sit in my storeroom as I am afraid to eat them , yet hate to waste the food. But I have not read anything that gives me the proof they are safe to eat. The canning books say only to can ground meat, or small meat balls.

Norma Spande hi! I’m glad to hear you ordered your canner, so exciting 😍. As for the meatloaf, I agree it’s questionably safe to eat. I’m not one for wasting food but I’d also be afraid to eat it. It makes me so mad to see what people share on social media as safe for canning. I also made things I saw others make only to find out it wasn’t safe. Now I confirm everything before I can it and use only trusted recipes. I can’t tell you what to do with your meatloaf but I’d be afraid to eat it 😞. It’s just not worth the risk. Hugs and blessings to you 🥰

Slather on toast or biscuits, stir into oatmeal or yogurt, add to bbq sauce, filling for cakes or cookies

Thank you so much for replying. The tiny difference in words between us can cause some confusion!! I had read most of the comments but didn’t see exactly it’s use. Now I know😋 and I now I will make some!! 🍏

So, to be sure, the cooking times are the same for this recipe with a pressure canner and a water bath canner?
    Much love!

Megan Smith yes, once you start timing adjust your heat to JUST MAINTAIN the boil. You don’t want it to boil ferociously the whole time 😊

Hi Carol, thank you for your excellent videos. Your videos make me want to start canning even more. I’m waiting for my All American cannier to arrive in January. One question - can I substitute brown sugar with either organic honey or organic maple syrup for this apple butter recipe? Also, can I substitute white sugar with either organic honey or organic maple syrup for the syrup for canning fruits like pineapples?

You can safely substitute one sugar for another sugar. 😊

Is there a rack in the bottom of the cooker?
