"Dance of Illusions"/"Illusionary Dance" has been used in this game, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, Castlevania 64, Circle of the Moon, Dawn of Sorrow, and maybe a few more that I don't remember off the top of my head. It's like become Dracula's characteristic battle music.
For those people looking for "an easy way" or tips to beat this boss there's basically 2 major tips: 1) Pick the Axe, don't even doubt it, pick it 2) The secret to this boss is something not many people realize until someone tells them - You get NO KNOCKBACK if you're attacked while crouching. This is FUNDAMENTAL for this fight if you don't want to die an easy death and you aren't looking for a perfect run.
Dude I love the consistency of the music throughout the games, this final battle here with the opening of SoTn have the same music, and thats just one example, its fucking sick. I love throwbacks lol
Dracula: Generation after generation the Belmonts always defeat me sigh*. Death: Hurrh.. Dracula: I always disappear and there they are with a whip in my face. Death: Hurrh.. Dracula: I wish there were less boomerangs in my candlesticks. Death: Hurrh.. Dracula: I wish I had someone to talk to...Just this skeleton. Say something else. Death: ..Arhurhh.. Dracula: Sigh* What I really need is some advice, I need to learn to dodge those boomerangs. Evil Anonymous Space Rabbit Pilot: DO A BARREL ROLL!
He did lost many hearts, there is no visible number during battle for some reason, but check 2:15 his hearts actually droped down from 40 to 5! Dracula is harder than he looks, but what we see here is like the best timing possible for hits. And axe should be Belmonts new legendary item not whip :P Well played!!
It's not glitched, it's the byproduct of a 60 fps video cut to 30 fps by TH-cam. Almost all flickering graphics uploaded either show as solid or as nothing.
Well played, albeit a little cheap, but w/e. I beat him with the whip and the cross. I picked up the Dracula X Chronicles recently. I demolished it, and it's still frickin' amazing to play. They added a third form to Dracula if you complete certain objectives of the game. But the battle is easier, there are no pits in the level, and it's basically the once from Symphony of the Night with a third form tacked on. No complaints here, it was frickin' awesome!
No, there's this graphical thing where they felt the need to make the hearts count flash continuously, and I can only assume that the recording device exactly captured frames when it wasn't on-screen.
He's not very intimidating, but with how hard it is to control Richter, added to the knockback of Dracula's attacks, he's actually pretty damn hard. I must have fought this guy over a hundred times, and out of those, Dracula has legitimately killed Richter once, and I've legitimately killed him a few times; all those other times ended in Richter falling into a hole.
Actually the PC-Engine even with his super cd-rom add-on wasn't as powerful as the SNES was. The PC-Engine version was superior thanks to the CD-ROM. It allowed FMV, voice acting, cd quality music. The controls were also superior on the PC-Engine and it had the original storyline.
The problem with the 2nd form is that any hit pretty much knocks you off the pillar and to your death, and his beam will hit you unless you are on the lowest platform. IMO this makes him the hardest Dracula reincarnation in a Castlevania game.
I'm pretty sure it's in this game's "twin", Rondo of Blood, where the lava balls were introduced. The fireballs are since Cv1. But yeah, you're right; Dracula does like use these same attacks in like every freaking game.
Same here. I actually made a save state right before his chamber, just so I could fight him repeatedly, and I've done so like 100 or more times now and I still suck at beating him.
I actually like this version of Dance of Illusions out of all the versions(yes even better than SotN). I actually recorded myself playing this game many years ago and play it from time time just to hear Dance of Illusions.
I have this on my laptop and wow... Probably the easiest Dracula I've seen. Granted, if the fireballs hit you they would probably one-shot you down the hole, but you shouldn't be able to destroy them with the whip. Might make it a little more difficult.
mhmm, also, in castlevania judgement, i believe, they say that dracula does not wish to come back to life, he is brought back by the malice, hatred, and sin of the human race. he sorta reminds me of davy jones from pirates of the carribean.
At 1:18, go Dracula! Don't take that cheap shit from him! Hey, I have an idea buddy, try beating him with crosses instead. Way more challenging. This is why I'm against using axes. Love his alternate form in this one. My fav cause I love how he looks like an actual devil instead of some beast. By the way, a warning for anybody who's a fan. Don't watch the end cause it's a spoiler for the ending :(
Yeah this was a tough battle for me at first because all it takes is one mistake and you could get knocked off the pillars. I beat the game several times btw using the same method.
in this and symphony of the night, they make dracula out to be more of a missguided person rather than an actual villain. its more obvious in symphony but it also seems to be true in this one
The Dracula X released in the US was an incomplete and butchered form of Rondo of Blood. To my knowledge there was no voice acting, and the gameplay quality wasn't as good.
I beat it on emulator and had to Save state it so I could finally suceed, I guess I've tried it at least 60 times before to beat him once. But when I take the time to look at the fight I notice that Dracula is one happy bastard, even when he transform he can't help but laugh.
I know that they are different games and have beaten both of them. Rondo of Blood is so similar in many ways that it feels like an well updated version of Dracula X. It feels like thay wanted to port the game for super nintendo but ended up adding and changing some stuff just to make a "new" game for it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania:_Rondo_of_Blood#Versions_and_re-releases
Dude, you are talking with a Castlevania fan, i finished castlevania 3, wich is more difficult than rondo of blood and dracula x, i also finished 1,2, symphony of the night, and castlevania 4, i am at the last levels of rondo of blood and in the final level of dracula x, the gameplay mechanics are similar, but apart from that, the games are totally different, i saw the worst mechanics in a castlevania game in dracula x, greetings
You know what? I can beat him without any special weapon. But I don't hav enough memory on my computer right now to upload it. Watch out when I get more memory cheap boy!
Holy crap how tall is dracula? He could be the greatest basket ball player ever.
7ft so yea he can
"Dance of Illusions"/"Illusionary Dance" has been used in this game, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, Castlevania 64, Circle of the Moon, Dawn of Sorrow, and maybe a few more that I don't remember off the top of my head. It's like become Dracula's characteristic battle music.
That's pretty damn good considering this is the hardest Dracula fight in Castlevania history (even harder than Rondo of Blood's). Mad props
It doesn't look too hard once you get used to the jumping control and Dracula's pattern but I agree thatcthis might be the hardest dracula
Well is not like dracula's bossfights are Hard anyways
For those people looking for "an easy way" or tips to beat this boss there's basically 2 major tips:
1) Pick the Axe, don't even doubt it, pick it
2) The secret to this boss is something not many people realize until someone tells them - You get NO KNOCKBACK if you're attacked while crouching. This is FUNDAMENTAL for this fight if you don't want to die an easy death and you aren't looking for a perfect run.
Exactly!!! I stumbled upon that by accident when I played through it last year. Saved me lots of frustration.
That isn't true I stay crouched and still get the knockback.. however that strategy got me the farthest in this bossfight
I literally just beat this game for the first time myself. Thanks for this video. I decided to use the axe because of watching this.
dracula sounds like the count from sesime street when he laughs like that
Dude I love the consistency of the music throughout the games, this final battle here with the opening of SoTn have the same music, and thats just one example, its fucking sick. I love throwbacks lol
I miss the old endings in games like this that sums it all up real quick like. This Belmont kicks Dracula's ass then go home and gets laid awesome.
+Chris Jackson Back in those days that was pretty much all that was needed .

Death: ..Arhurhh..
Dracula: Sigh* What I really need is some advice, I need to learn to dodge those boomerangs.
Evil Anonymous Space Rabbit Pilot: DO A BARREL ROLL!
The REAL Dracula X (Rondo Of Blood) DID have Voice Acting (Mainly cause it was on the Famicon PC Drive, which wasn't released Stateside)
The avgn is like impossibru.
What is a man? *Smashes down wine glass* A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk... Have at you!
Damn the axe is my new favorite sub weapon!
Actually, the music was rather nice, in my opinion.
Also, this is probably one of the most difficult Dracula battles.
Is funny that Dracula's first form have a very small hitbox while the last form's whole body is a hitbox
He did lost many hearts, there is no visible number during battle for some reason, but check 2:15 his hearts actually droped down from 40 to 5!
Dracula is harder than he looks, but what we see here is like the best timing possible for hits. And axe should be Belmonts new legendary item not whip :P
Well played!!
Dracula always got some insurance for when you defeat his 1st form
I remember beating this game years back. Always loved the music to this boss, so fucking epic!!!!
It's not glitched, it's the byproduct of a 60 fps video cut to 30 fps by TH-cam. Almost all flickering graphics uploaded either show as solid or as nothing.
That day, Count Dracula realized the key to victory was a broken floor.
Well played, albeit a little cheap, but w/e.

Man, I love this game!
No, there's this graphical thing where they felt the need to make the hearts count flash continuously, and I can only assume that the recording device exactly captured frames when it wasn't on-screen.
Dang, those axes did a number on the Drac-ster! What, are they soaked in holy water?
Oldest video on TH-cam! These comments are gold!!
great skills there, made it look awfully easy castlevainia's one of the best game evers, thanks for the video...
well done, you're very patient and smart, i like how you played it.
@CERPAS4 Kinda. This is the heavily altered port of it, called "Dracula X".
He's not very intimidating, but with how hard it is to control Richter, added to the knockback of Dracula's attacks, he's actually pretty damn hard. I must have fought this guy over a hundred times, and out of those, Dracula has legitimately killed Richter once, and I've legitimately killed him a few times; all those other times ended in Richter falling into a hole.

i like this song man its the one of the beast songs in castlevania dracula X
nice work man. that's a tough game to beat
Never have more dramatic words ever been spoke.
I never knew the axes were so effective. I usually use crosses.
Crosses make the second phase much easier, but Axes trivialise the first section!
if some one wants to know the song is called dance of illusions or illusionary dance i think
CONGRATULATIONS!
He look a little like ryu at the end there???
Nice! You play the games and AVGN will do the commentary from now on
`love the music mate
this theme music is very catchy.=)
Same here. I actually made a save state right before his chamber, just so I could fight him repeatedly, and I've done so like 100 or more times now and I still suck at beating him.
Very impressive
hahaha oh man that must have been god awful, I was nervous as hell that I was gonna do the same due to the awkward jump controls
Holy fucking balls.... the AXE?!?!?! HAHAHAHAHA
Should I download this game off of the wii's virtual console?
Yes! Definately, its a lot of fun!
Ok well i must admit no dmg taking at all on Dracula X? very nice battle i never thought i woulda see that on Dracula X once again good job!
I like how Dracula is nine feet tall. Maybe he should join one of those European basketball leagues and ditch world conquest?
does richter even run in this game? or have any of his fancy moves like in SOTN or portrait of the ruin
I actually like this version of Dance of Illusions out of all the versions(yes even better than SotN). I actually recorded myself playing this game many years ago and play it from time time just to hear Dance of Illusions.
If you look at the time when I commented this, it is the time I just now beat the game.
Well played, good sir. Using the axe is a clever way of doing things. Normally I use the cross.
I have this on my laptop and wow... Probably the easiest Dracula I've seen. Granted, if the fireballs hit you they would probably one-shot you down the hole, but you shouldn't be able to destroy them with the whip. Might make it a little more difficult.
Hey,Moshimaru is singing the final theme at 2:17
@Firebot Actually I think it's 29,97 FPS that gets cut in half but ok.
Ha! I haven't played this in a while. I see that you use the axe weapon too...its best for taking advantage of drac's weakspot which is his head..
The best Dracula sprite imo.
did avgn not see this platform?
mhmm, also, in castlevania judgement, i believe, they say that dracula does not wish to come back to life, he is brought back by the malice, hatred, and sin of the human race. he sorta reminds me of davy jones from pirates of the carribean.
Dracula saved tons of money by switching his ghostly carriage services to Geico... I'd chuckle it up a bunch too if I had such luck!
The AVGN leaves his mark on youtube commenters everywhere.
Perhaps the same could be said of ALL religions.
At 1:18, go Dracula! Don't take that cheap shit from him!

i was wondering what happened between this game and rondo of blood, which is the real game story wise
hahaha that is the best laugh ever
Cool!
yeah! castlevania...dracula's theme is my favorite
I agree. He was challenging in Curse of Darkness IMO.
I hate when the 2nd dracula kicks me into the pit with a fireball and I was winning nice xD
The Dracula X released in the US was an incomplete and butchered form of Rondo of Blood. To my knowledge there was no voice acting, and the gameplay quality wasn't as good.
This music rules!
also apparently this is my very first comment on youtube.
shockingly, this one isn't embarassing unlike some others.
which is harder This or Contra
lol yea portrait of the ruin's dracula fight does make all the dracula fights look like no big deal
this is Vampires kiss?
I played this, its like the european version of rondo of blood. this game was fucking hard
Castlevania 4 is the best SNES game ever.
I beat it on emulator and had to Save state it so I could finally suceed, I guess I've tried it at least 60 times before to beat him once. But when I take the time to look at the fight I notice that Dracula is one happy bastard, even when he transform he can't help but laugh.
Damn, you made it look easy. Hah, nice.
I don't see why? He totally took the easy route. You should watch mine. I only use the whip.
in rondo is easy but that dracula´s form and that stage is crazy
Rondo of Blood is just way better version of this game, try it out :)
Rondo of blood is not a "version" of this game, rondo of blood is completely different
I know that they are different games and have beaten both of them. Rondo of Blood is so similar in many ways that it feels like an well updated version of Dracula X.
It feels like thay wanted to port the game for super nintendo but ended up adding and changing some stuff just to make a "new" game for it.

***** No, this is a different game from Rondo of Blood, and IMO, a better one.
lolz.. you're gonna be like: "d'oh!"
haha!
hells yea!
You don't lose hearts when throwing axes...Wtf?
o noes, a devil wearing a speedo
One of the rare cases the North American version of a game is harder than the Japanese. Granted Dracula x is a remake of rondo of blood.
You need best ending to save maria renard and annette. But it only appears to save maria and annette is dracula and death hands to death.
Is it just me or the SNES's final boss look harder than the PC engine's version?
there are harder dracula fights, but he´s no pushover here
He's getting hurt as well as he laughs....auto sadism
good music for snes
Dracula is not as easy as he appears in this video. One hit from him could send Richter into one of those pits.
I agree with xxxinforcerxx..this music is freakin awesome...and the game too
pretty good version of "dance of illusion".
lol the girl on the right, at the end credits looks funny
slowest fucking walk
You know what? I can beat him without any special weapon. But I don't hav enough memory on my computer right now to upload it. Watch out when I get more memory cheap boy!
Yes it is.
