Ah, good show! Money Wrench Mike takes time away from; 'Whose the Duck' to share some time with us. Thank you! The Launch diagnostic unit seems more than adequate for the casual car guy to a smaller Shop Mechanic who doesn't have $4000.00 for a super unit a dealership might have.
Mike I was a mechanic for many years even the lower modules of the launch readers are great they are definitely no Alcatel but they work great. Good review comparison to your mb scanner kinda gives you a good apple to apple side by side. Next time instead of writing it all down may I suggest taking pictures with you phone, it may make it easier
At 9:56 in your video: low voltage to ABR. It's probably just a corroded connector. A Star machine will tell you where all the connectors are. Take them apart and look for green staining or grey'ed out barrel connectors. Shine up the connectors, put a little dielectric grease on them. The scanner will show you stuff you don't even notice there is a problem with. I wouldn't be too concerned about things you don't actually notice there is a issue with.
Sounds like the Preacher Man was having a lot of Religious Experiences lmao 😆😆😂😂😆 those codes could be Old and were never taken out of the system, I would reset and see what comes back. Take Care Mike.
A lot of those faults can be caused by low voltage or if the battery was disconnected or a "fluke" condition. If you noted the faults, then cleared them, then drove it for a bit and rescanned it, you would have a better idea of what is really going on in all the different modules. After clearing the faults you see what comes back and address those issues. I'm surprised you don't have a Mercedes C4 or C5 multiplexer and a Mercedes star machine, since you own so many Mercedes. The STAR machine tells you how to diagnosis/trouble shoot issues, where components are located, wire diagrams, connection locations ,you can actuate components and test them, tons of information and features. Look on ebay for the star machine {Mercedes diagnostics} you want a C4 or C5 multiplexer . If you have a subscription with Mercedes, they can code used parts to the car and do even deeper diagnosis.
With my icarsoft, I found many of the codes on my 2009 Mercedes were undervoltage and other items like that and it is from the car sitting for a while and the battery goes down a bit. If you clear the codes most if not all of them don't reappear when you recheck later

None of my cars have computers, and I plan to keep it that way, so this device would do nothing for me. Great review though. I look forward to see what is wrong with the mighty ML. That must be the German brother to the Mighty Dodge Al Bundy drove.
Hi Mike does that Launch reader read the ABS counter on the ABS module on the ML because they have a system that counts the number of brake cycles and when the number reaches a maximum the module can throw error codes (believe it also happens on a lot of other Mercedes ) you can reset the counter because Mercedes set the number pretty conservative and it will run a lot longer
I don’t think that MLs do that. I know Satan’s Car... my O5 E-class did that counting thing. Fortunately Mercedes will reset and replace that for free.
Launch sounds like a great product! Good timing of your review 🙂 I am looking at something for my new toy but wondering about bidirectional capabilities.
The dynamic seats are really problematic. I have them on my S55amg. The bags in the seats deteriorate and leak. The air lines crack. The connectors leak. If the pump senses a leak and does not maintain a spec'ed pressure for a spec'ed amount of time, the pump shuts down to protect itself from burning out. The system will reboot after you cycle the ignition. The Mercedes STAR machine has full diagnostics for the dynamic seat system . I managed to fix it with out the Star machine, but after I got one I was able to test it and fine tune it. In my S55, I sprayed down all the air line connectors in the trunk with soap bubbles to look for leaks. If a connector leaked, I took it apart and smeared grease on the O ring and put it back to together and re checked with soap bubbles. Be careful with the eco friendly Mercedes plastic parts, they get brittle. The air line goes thru the trunk and behind the rear seat. Mine was cracked behind the seats. I spliced out the cracked line and used fuel line with hose clamps to repair it. All my bags in the seat were shot. The got brittle and were just crumbling. I got generic lumbar bags and replaced them all. You have to take apart the spring assembly in the back of the seat to get them out. You have to check all air line connections at the dynamic module with soap bubbles when you put it back together. It took me several times of digging into that system to figure out what was wrong with it. I know it well now. You should go on MBworld. c o m and register as monkey wrench mike. I can share pictures with you and talk to you there better than youtube. I'm hvacdude. I finally got my dynamic seats working after many attempts. It is a really cool feature, but it's really just a gimmick. The best part of it for me was knowing I fixed it and got it working myself. Love your content and personality, Mike. Hey Mike, could it be that the preacher, one day volunteered at a "Family Planning " fair and the organizers put him in the STD booth handing out condoms,at the end of a day of promoting safe sex, Mr. Preacher goes out to the AMG and realizes he's got a picket full of condoms. He throws them in the trunk. I'm just sayin'.
I'll bet the previous owner was a frugal friar who found a unique and concurrent method of using the condoms and plugging a tire at the same time. Yeah that's it, surely some of his flock will believe that story.
