Hello! I live in Kiyv and I just wanted to add few things. Food costs are higher than stated in the video, I would say you need at least 200-300 usd per person for simple nutrition. You can't survive a whole month on 10 eggs :) And that is just for buying food. Paying for electricity, water and garbage removal would cost you 100-300 usd depending on the apartment. Rent options are available for every income from 300 usd per month to infinity :) I would say that you can easily live on 450-600 usd per month per person, provided that you don't rent apartment and you are healthy enough not to use medical service. It sounds like a great thing, but the average salary is around 400 usd in Kiev. So if you rent and you are not working in IT sector life is pretty hard for you. I worked as a chemical engineer for some time before switching to IT and that was pretty tough :)
i visited Kiev twice. I liked it very much...the food is inexpensive and good as well the restaurants, and if you travel outside the city the restaurants are embarrassingly cheap...the large supermarkets in Kiev are better than in the USA...the Metro is amazing, very solid and dependable...the only problem is the language--you will have to learn down the road Russian and Ukrainian...Ukrainian is especially hard to learn, yet with long period of exposure, immersion and practice it might be doable. There is also something very charming with the mix of old European , soviet, and modern architecture, not to mention the majestic Dnieper River, one of the largest in Europe... PS: From the Ukraine you can travel to all Europe with relatively cheap flights or trains...also, at the beginning people might seem cold and reserved, until they know you and then they can be warm and very friendly...
I spent 2 weeks in Kyiv in August, and found a chain of cafeteria-like restaurants called "Puzata Hata" (Пузата Хата), where you can get a full meal for about $5.00, including drink. They serve soup, salads, many chicken, pork, vegetables, and other dishes. The food was very good, and we dined there almost everyday. They are all over Kyiv, and Ukraine.
Got a lot of prices wrong - haircut much less, large gym much less. $85 a month for a gym??? Laughable. Try $20 a month. Gold's Gym in the States is only $40 a month. Also, if you are paying $15 for a lunch you are eating at higher end restaurant for tourists and well to do Kievans. But otherwise a good video. And the young woman who took time to be interviewed added a lot of good information and value to your video. 👍

Their "poorness " is not noticeable. Latin America is way more poor, you see children working on the streets (something I've never seen in Ukraine) and most countries appear on the lowest places in educated people ranking (Ukraine appears in the highest places)
BILA is one of the most expensive supermarkets. There are big differences in prices between different chains of supermarkets. It's been great to see again the crazy open air gym at Hydropark :-)

Around $700 in Kyiv. That's officially, plus people often have income in cash and don't declare it. 30-40% of economy is not observed. You can really see that people are not that poor as some say. Especially in Kyiv.
@@pattifilms7858 Yes, you are correct. Things appear much better. in '71 the government control was so oppressive it negatively impacted our holiday. But strangely it seems it'seven harder to visit Russia today than it was in '71. All we had to do them was provide an agenda for the campgrounds we would be staying at and prepay them. There was no invitation requirement and such as there is today.
It's worth noticing that average salary in Kiev is slightly more than 500 dollars per month, which means that "simple guy" George is quite rich by Ukraine standards.

I think food in a restaurant is the most expensive expense in Kyiv. You can spend about $900 a month which is double the price of average monthly rent.
The average salary in Ukraine is 250 USD per month. In Kyiv it is between 400 to 600 USD. So 1000 USD is impossible for the people. As Expat you also need to be lucky to get a job that pays at least 1000 USD.
Living in Ukraine can only be considered as a retirement option. Because they pay so low salary it's not worth it to move in your working years. One cannot live on money/ salary earned in major cities eg. Kyiv with any comfort.
I don't know my family want or not that price 🤔 We choose buy more than rent, Lviv 🇺🇦 for our based so maybe our family buy land and village for renovation 🤔 But my family say want build train station & train, so their money very much 🤔

Paid medicine has normal quality. Dentistry has really good quality with very low prices. Government medicine is free, but quality highly depends from location and specific hospital.

Every human need own leisure needs and you can calculate what you need without minimal cost for life. Real average pension in Ukraine 75$, it's unreal for survive, so you can live in Ukraine as you want
Usually 2 parents are working in the family, and people like to have second jobs. Also many things can be found cheaper with worse quality. But you are right - life is tough with 400$ a month. But possible.
Most Ukrainians are average persons and I don't think that your information are good, you have to give the cost of living with someone that as a medium salary, not a 1050 dollars salary, most people don't have that salary in Ukraine, like the girl said a teacher get a salary of 200 dollars a month.
Yes rents are too high in kyev. If you want something in the city center prices are around that. Of course you can find waaay cheaper options if you go a bit outside.

Yes gyms are veeeery expensive in Kiev. Clubbing will cost about 40 dollars a night with 2 or 3 drinks. Drinks in the club are not too expensive but the entrance is like 10 to 20 dollars.

Brent, they have beef but you have to know where to look. I found a beef store, M'yastoriya in the TSUM Mall on Khreschatyk St, but that store looked expensive. I Googled "beef in Kyiv" and found a few other butcher shops, and restaurants that have steaks, etc., but again, by U.S. standards, it is going to be expensive.
