Hi, I would like to talk to you before I travel to Ukraine. I'm planning on going but this coronavirus made things worst for me. Please keep me in mind. I will need your help finding a place and where to live so that I can find me a wife. Women here in USA or American women or western women, all the same, are not worth of a man like me.

Prices for clothes compared US to Ukraine. When I went shopping in Kiev, Odessa, and Nikolaev the prices in Ukraine are much less than US. You save an average of 20%. This includes not just clothes. MAC, Guess, Armani, and a lot more.
The interesting item that is cheaper in US than in Ukraine is vitamins.

Good job Taya! It's refreshing to hear an accurate description concerning these issues. I laugh when I hear people say the average salary is $200. Ridiculous. ( In a big city) $500-$600 per month is and accurate assessment of the average salary for a young person beginning a career. $1500-$2500 is the average salary for most older experienced professionals. We're talking about normal working people, not pensioners and university students. So salary can be anywhere in the range of $500-$2500 depending on age, profession, and experience. Rent is exactly as you told us.

There have been about 4 or five people who make honest videos like yours about life in Ukraine and that I have followed. You are all such angels. I think the government of Ukraine should reward you all for your hard work in doing these great videos because it takes time and work. I think it is a great thing what you are doing because it ill put the foreigner more at ease when they go visit your country and they will know how to avoid problems and become victims of crime. You are doing a very excellent job for those of us who like your country. Take care,

Ukraine doesn't appear to be as cheap as I would have though. I live in the United States and prices for most things are very expensive. I have been looking to move to the Ex Soviet countries to find a cheaper cost of living. The countries in the Balkans are very reasonable as well as some regions in the Caucasus. $500.00 a month in these places gives you rent, utilities and food.

    • @steffanhoffmann8937
      @steffanhoffmann8937 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It is cheap fella. But not where she gives examples. Kyiv DOES have cheap areas though in the West and the South East regions. Just call estate agents in Kyiv up on Google. You'll see what I mean. I lived there two years.
I lived in Odessa also for two years. Warm most of the year. Don't get a place in the city. They'll just rip us 🇬🇧🇺🇸 off!
I got a two bedroom flat fifteen minutes walk from the sea in FONTAN region. It was cleaner area than the city. No beggars. I paid 300 US for a 7 yr old (only 5 floors) top floor with skylight windows. Great skies in Odessa. My utility bills were only an av. of 40 US max. No kidding!
Imo Kyiv is a dirty place. Polluted. Generally unfriendly. Cold grey or wet for 9 months of the year.
Odessa is the opposite in all respects. Check it out.
Even yesterday March 12 my friends in both places told me it was 12c in Kyiv with a very cold wind
Odessa? Local people were on the beach as the temp hit 21c. My friends told me this year Odessa had an early spring around 2nd week of February. Birds nesting. Nature budding. Barmy Saturday mid February when temp hit 19c sunny and warm!
Even last year Odessa was still around those temps up to the third week of November.

@@steffanhoffmann8937 i have always liked the idea of living in somewhere like Ukraine but without the bitter cold winters having lived for many years in Australia. A number of questions if you don't mind me asking:
      1. Was there any particular real estate company that you used to get your apartment?
      2. Can rentals be done for shorter durations than one year, say 6 months?
      3. Do apartments come furnished or unfurnished generally?
      4. Are utility bills generally excluded from the monthly rental?
      Thank you in advance.

@@hughmacrae4337 There are no long Winters in Odessa. So far we've had no snow. We didn't last Winter either.
Locals tell me it's about one in every 7 or 8 years they get a bad one. It lasts about three weeks.
Very cold would be Kyiv. I lived in both. Kyiv cold weather usually starts in late September. It can last until mid-May. It did in 2018. About a week before the Champions League final. Kyiv is also much more miserable generally speaking. People are awkward let doors slam in your face. The list is endless. They're generally ignorant. When I came on holiday in September 2018 to Odessa? I couldn't believe the difference in attitude. Humorous. Smiling...bla bla bla. (They don't like Kyiv btw.) I went back to Kyiv after my hol and stayed a week. I'd left Odessa mid October. The temp was about 21 Celsius 🌞. I arrived in Kyiv. It was 9 Celsius and cloud with heavy drizzly rain. So.....lol
If you live in a region by the sea? It's better than the city.
      1. Best to stay in a small hotel for a while and do some research. I recommend Guest House Marta. Kostandi. Fontan. From November to March she charged me $400 a month. Advantage is no extra bills for utilities. Alternatively there's a place at 1/1 Kostandi Fontan called The Shellman Hotel. It's more like a Motel. From September to May they charge about $300 a month inclusive.
      2. Short sure at 6 months. It's best to ask around tho. I networked on the Fontan beaches. Around March. (Sometimes there's hidden stuff with these estate agents)
      3. Furnished generally.
      4. Best to ask to see the utility bills. Get that sort of place. Otherwise the landlord can tell you anything.
I've just had my bills for December. 32 Brit sterling that month. For Gas. Electric. Water. Internet.
In August that total was only 13 Brit Sterling.....you're NOT misreading it! 🤣
Regarding the weather? On Wednesday just gone? I was playing volleyball on one of the Fontan beaches. It was 13 Celsius. Birds were singing like Spring. 🌞 No wind. Kyiv was cold cloudy and windy.
If you decide to come here just write to me again here.
      Good Luck 🍀

@@steffanhoffmann8937 Thanks Steffan for your quick and detailed reply. Yes I think Kiev is not really up there for my list of places to see but will still venture there for a visit. I am looking for various 3 months stays throughout Eastern Europe, Central and South America, some parts of South East Asia (not those already visited) in my early stages of retirement. I think guest house is an option as it is short term (without the necessary commitment) and will invariably include utilities. I guess also being close (relatively speaking) to other Eastern European countries like Bulgaria where skiing would certainly be a winter option. By the way how is the wine in Ukraine given that Australian red is generally good but slightly heavy and probably a lot more expensive than any local wine you may have? I also see that Chinese investment is coming to Ukraine which in itself may cause a lot of issues.

@@hughmacrae4337 No probs. However. Johnson 🇬🇧 has signed a trade deal with the Prez here.
So that counteracts China I reckon.
Plus in the Odessa port. The Royal Navy and Royal Marines are there in case of Putin. Some two years now plus extra coz of this trade deal.
      Wine?
That would be Shabo in Odessa region about 35 miles North of me in the hills.
I don't rate their whites. Taste too much like German sugary stuff. However their Merlot is as good as French for just under 2 quid.
Sparkly wine is a thing called Odessa....look it up please.
It tastes a bit like Cockatoo Ridge from Oz.
      As for Oz wines?
They tend to be just as dear as UK. Don't know why.
Best buys here are Argie Malbecs. Chilean stuff. USA Zinfandel.
All retailing from a decent mart like Santim at about 4.50 sterling.
Italian and Spanish? Get a great one for 3 quid any colour.
      French? Too expensive really.

I liked the way you corrected yourself and said "Ukrainian Japanese food"
All over TH-cam you'll find vids where Japanese visitors say it's nothing like it!
    For example
    I was a volunteer teacher
    Kyiv 2 yrs
    Odessa 2 yrs
I went to one of your chain restaurants. There was mayo on nearly everything. In the end I left the restaurant. Ordering nothing.
Same as most of your Chinese and Indian "themed restaurants". Basically they're NOT! Too much sugar in Chinese food. NO SPICE in the Indian food!
In multi cultural western Europe there are natives of those countries food actually cooking it!
As regards to mayo and sour cream? It's even in your pizza. I got fed up of asking waiters (by Google translate!!!) to NOT put it in. So I went to Domino (American chain) that didn't contain it.
    As regards sour cream?
In Odessa whilst waiting for my appt I stayed in a guest house in FONTAN. Gold coast.
There were many visitors from Belarus. Other parts of Ukraine. Moldova.
Then there was me from UK. A few from Nederland. Germany. Finland.
There were two things in evidence.
    1. All the western Europe people and the FINS communicated in ENGLISH. Eastern Europeans couldn't connect with us.
    2. Eastern Europeans had cream for breakfast on a version of pancakes fried in butter. Drank full cream milk. Cream in borscht. Cream stirred in with full fat sausages fried in butter. Noodles with sour cream to accompany it. Just a diet of full fat basically.
One of the Dutch guests couldn't go in the kitchen one day as she felt physically sick with the heavy smells.
When you're young it doesn't affect your metabolism. But when you reach mid thirties it has absolutely no benefits. In fact studies in the West show it causes heart disease. High blood pressure. Thrombosis. Blindness. Arthritis. Cellulite. And lots more. It leads to shorter life spans.

Hi Taya can I share something with you which might be perplexing to you.. In New Jersey if you are Ivan working as a cash register you will earn about $1,400.. the rent for a proper studio in Hoboken New Jersey is averaged at $1,600. So I guess you can say the economic situation in America.. is worse haha

Talking about gopniks, are trey dangerous? 😅How do I spot one?
I've been in Ukraine in winter and I couldn't see the difference between "regular" men and gopniks, most of men dress and look the same.
Here in Latin America it's easier to recognize street hooligans since they wear certain shapes and accessories.

gopnik culture is dead. this was youth thing mostly, now they grew up and found better ways (or went to jail).

Expenses are about 10% lower than in Macedonia. But salaries in Macedonia are about 30% bigger. We have a little bigger standard but not much bigger. Macedonia is in a bad economic situation Like Ukraina.
