ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on TH-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, I was raised as a sheep rancher, then we moved and raised cattle. It’s not simple! To give each one the proper vet care, it’s complicated! Each device works differently! You are doing a good job, it’s better you forget a battery or to switch on a mic than mess up the vet care!! You have your priorities correct!!
Cammy, I'm from Texas USA and speak with a strong Texas accent. I watch you every day and caught myself saying Wee Lambie. Your accent is catching and it's hilarious coming out of a Texan !! Love your videos!
Brilliant! U will be saying Lie Doon next 😁
😄
@@TheSheepGamespent so much time watchin' Scot and Irish guys working dogs my 'away' comes out more 'awaaaaeeeeh' now lol. Seems to work good for our dogs though.
Probably easier to shop for the family than the sheep. At least you don’t have to break out math to feed the boys 🤣
Love watching your videos 🤣
Made it to the end! I don't think I've never not made it to the end of one of your videos. You always keep bringing in incredibly informative content. I enjoy your humbleness and selfless attitude as you learn each time you handle the sheep. As a teacher, I always appreciate the teachable moments that you fit into your videos like you did with Fern and Meg's Gathering of the sheep. Thanks for all you do for all of us who watch. I'm from Tennessee in the USA.
Great video as usual Cammy. 5 mins or 50 mins long we'll watch them 👍👍
Agreed!
Indeed! Love from the USA!
Actually the longer the better!
Thanks everyone!
Agreed and I'm not a farmer nor never have been. Just a retired lady that loves to watch your videos.
True fans of The Sheep Game always stay until the end!!! WE LOVE LONG VIDEOS!!!
A shepherd's daughter here. Never heard of you, before you and your mates rescue Fiona. This is the first video of yours I have watched, and I loved it!
Your videos could NEVER be too long Cammy, NEVER!! 😂
You're the best!😁😁😁
Loved a long video this Sunday Cammy. The process of getting ready for spring lambing looks so stressful on the wallet. Good luck to you all there. Can’t wait for the next one.
The autocatch, and sorting functions of the te pari equipment are a complete game changer - I hope you don’t regret the spend
Ditto what a cool assistant No backtalk either😂
bloody love anything with shetland in it. I always think they'll be lambing in the apocalypse while we've kicked the bucket 😂
Don’t mind how long videos are, the longer the better as always love watching you and the family ❤
Brilliant.! Thank you Elaine!
I not only made it to the end, but I watched it twice! I personally prefer longer videos. The ten to fifteen minutes seem like a waste of my time. I like to sit, relax, and enjoy what I'm watching for just a bit before continuing on with work or whatever task I'm currently involved in
Great to know! Thanks!
Loved the long video!
You have to watch it twice to understand the “English”
@annekabrimhall1059 that's rude. Be thankful he even makes the effort to speak English. If you're so unhappy about watching a video twice to "understand the English" Cami is better off without you.
Youll get the ear for it, just watch more!
Hi Cammy! You have quite the setup going there. Also quite the procedure rounding up the other group and depositing the first ones. Looks very nice there as your sky is very blue and lovely. I always watch all of your videos, Cammy.
Reminds me of those days you are so organized, until reality sets in, deep breath and a prayer, keep on farming
Thank You, I appreciate your videos even if I'm not a farmer or live in Scotland. Long videos with or without endings/ sound/ batteries, they are all good.
All the way to the end :) I have no sheep.. Well, nothing but 2 cats. I love to watch your family, the dogs, the land.. the sheep, the new equipment and the neighbors
Awesome thanks for watching and commenting!
Texas here. Just found the show 'This Farm Life'. Was amazed at how much Sheep Game Merch they sport. Good on ya!
haha it's crazy eh! Everyone has been very supportive of us here in the UK..... and the states =D
As always beautiful lovely captured and super great videos .. appreciate your beautiful sharing .. Merci beaucoup Monsieur
You know Cammy I love watching your videos they always make me laugh. I enjoy the way you make it informative from even us viewers who have no knowledge about sheep or farming without it becoming too jargon orientated . You make it clear that you too are on a learning curve .
Maybe you can tell me though is it just my imagination or has sheep farming overtaken cattle farming. If so why ?
Sheep have always been bigger in Scotland but lots of other countries would be beef and dairy first.
I always make it to the end. I love watching you taking care of the sheep 🐑.
Your videos are always a treat…they could be 30 minutes and keep me focused-which is really saying something! Lol!
Excellent video. Glad to hear about the cobalt.
You're walking pretty good. Glad the boots are working for you. Blessings to you all. You work so hard to keep the farm in order.❤❤❤
👍 "Fisherthems" 🤣
I'm always succinct, concise and to the point. Nothing extraneous. And if ye believe that, I've a bridge tae sell ye 😉
🤣🤣 made me chuckle
Oh yes, Cammy, I always watch to the end! I was happy to see those supportive boots on your feet after the last video and that terrible ankle, ouch! It's funny, I was wincing at the very start of this one when you were buying all that very expensive treatment at the store - double ouch...😬 The lambs are looking great. Thanks for all your effort to bring us along while you work. Stay safe and well.
As I look at you Cammy as you set up at the beginning…your words keep running through my mind…”What could possibly go wrong?”…Cammy my dear one, you absolutely make my day. Soooooo, how is the ankle now?
Thanks Tammy! Still not good! Might give in eventually and go for an Xray!
Go for the X-ray ASAP. If no one's told you, I can see the pain in your face.
This is the Mom in me coming over to Scotland to boot you in the arse.
@@TheSheepGame take my heartfelt advice…GO FOR THE FRICKIN X-RAY…please
That's nice shopping'here in Holland it's only available from the vet ,
yeah I think Norway is the same
❤That was an Incredible Video Cammy ! I didn’t want it to end 😃. You were telling us it was too long and I didn’t ever want it to stop 😂. It’s ever so fascinating to me every single thing that you do as a sheep farmer and business man. I love how you show all the aspects of the things you are doing with the sheep and aren’t afraid to show that minor “oopsies” occur with the meds etc… your human like the rest of us . To me it just shows how much of a real man you are that you show everything. I also have to comment about people who say they can’t understand you , I am from the Midwest in the USA and all you have to do is Listen 👂 and you sound just fine! You be you Cammy . Don’t stress about your accent it’s all a part of you and your wonderful. Also wanted to say about the people commenting on Lizzy needing to speak up or needing a better microphone, Frankly speaking They need to Listen with their own Ears 👂she spoke very clearly you could hear everything she said the entire time . She was simply Marvelous even in the pouring rain and in the wind and with the rain coming down while she was in the trailer you could still hear her no problem. Lizzy is amazing and so are you Cammy you have a beautiful family with Jock and Little Angus and a new one to join Congratulations Lizzy is WonderWoman !!!
You have been clipping at my farm before love all the vids and giving some of the public an insight to farming in Scotland
I get about! Thanks Andrew!
Always happy to see a Cami video pop up.
Can't go wrong with shetlands or shetland crosses. Had a few of them for good couple of years, and i've never had to lamb one, they seem to manage all by themselves..
But texel and suffolk need a hand from time to time.
And yes I made it to the end 🤦♀️😂😂😂 I am thrilled the electric fence is working out so well for y’all!
Going great Tammy!
First time commenting and new subscriber to your channel. I’d love to see a video where you outline your breeding plans. You have so many different breeds and combinations you are working with. It would be cool to hear the breeding decisions you are making and why.
It's funny with videos you enjoy as you only realise it's "long" when you mention it and I check the timer to find it's been 18 minutes or so! I find everything you say fascinating and feel I've learned a lot from watching you. I have no sheep, no fields, no farm and no time to be a farmer, but if I ever come into a position where I can, I'll be thanking you in person!
You are my hero, so any vlog is a great vlog. The sixty seconds with the music was fun. I always enjoy seeing you and your teammates working and caring for your flock! Thanks for sharing your time and your thoughts with us all.❤
Thanks Judy 🥰
Please take the advice of your elders, and get an X-ray of your ankle! You will save yourself time and pain. If it needs some further treatment , now is best. We care enough about your future to urge you to take care of yourself! 💖. I was glad to see you wearing boots to give it some support.
Watched til the end, always.
Read every comment and liked them all. Replies too.
Scolded you for not getting an X-ray, twice I think.
I enjoy your channel so I do all I can to make the algorithm happy.
Get the ankle X-rayed Cammy.
I think i’ll
Need to give in and get it looked at
I always watch your videos to the end - unlike some other channels I watch - coz you’re always entertaining but also educational …. And damned amusing with it.
Thank you!
I made it to the end ;) interesting to hear about the Kobalt deficiency! This is something I can't learn on my own, as I have very little experience with only about 20 sheep atm :D
Glad it was helpful!
Made it to end - good again. Appreciation from Iowa
No matter the length of the video, will watch them all!
Made it to the end. I truly understand the struggle to get a process rolling. It always feels like it takes more time to prepare for a job and get stuck in than actually doing the job itself. But you’re doing all the necessary things that prevent troubles in the future. Take care.
Great video guys just a suggestion when your doing the pre tupping jobs what I find easier is dose the ewes and then boulose (don't think that's the right spelling 😂😂)because sometimes it help it slide down the throat 👍👍
Not too long at all Cammy! Love watching your day to day sheep farming.
Yay! Nice to see the Tarff Valley shop again. That frame to hang the bottle from looks like it works great! Well, maybe you needed to dose yourself... lol. Are these gimmers? You probably said, but I missed it. Aw, Cammy, watching you blether and faff around brightens my day. I just remember how much you HATED this job before the Te Pari. The 60 second montage was great. It won't be long until Jock will be opening gates for you. The video wasn't too long. I enjoyed it very much. Props to Lizzy for the great nursing. Glad you have good boots so you don't roll that ankle again or God forbid, the other one!
I love your videos. With all the work you have I wish I could give you a hand. I grew up on a small farm with around 60 head of cattle so I can sure relate to the never ending work load. I live in the western United States so I can’t help out though.
Thanks though! I'd love to get out west some day!
Brilliant Cammy....so much hard work but hopefully worth it....I love watching all the blogs.
Thanks so much! 😊
Top job mate, thanks for posting.
Made it to the end! Interesting stuff about the lambs and crystalyx!
Yes! I watched until the end! I think I’ve been watching your videos for at least two years now while I needle felt, and it’s amazing how far you’ve all come!
Fine video diary, really enjoyed following along on your day(s). Not too long, IMO!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wish they were all this long
That would have gone smoother had Lizzy been there.😂😂😂
I'm lost without her!
Fab video as normal! So interesting to see and hear from the start about Cost per sheep. Sheep all looking great!
I made it too the end, but I always do! I just love seeing these glimpses into the life of sheep farming.
Always love your videos Cammy. Raising livestock is such a demanding and hard working job and I appreciate that you take time to video and explain things. I’ve learned so much from you and always love the content and explanations you provide. Be well Cammy, may that ankle heal well for you. ❤❤
Thank you!
By the way love the vids but i just love you buying stuff in the market i just find it so intresting😂😂
Great video Cammy. Isn't it great when you learn something new from novice's 🎉🎉🎉
Absolutely!
This is the best part of a Sunday morning.
Love the videos, Cammy! Quick question about the pre-tupping management you described today. Is this a function of the breeds you’ve chosen to run? Or does it have more to do with the climate and ground you’re on?
More to do with the ground and climate. A lot of places through east wouldn't need to fluke dose for example. Also ground further south will be better with cobalt so may not need to give ewes supplements .
I made it to the end! Also just love your mumbling away as you navigate your gizmos!
Always watch to the end. And every video. Or try to
Made it to the end, but I was hoping you would talk more about the Shetland Cheviot crosses and why you like them.
That was an awesome video.. not too long.. just right! It was a very REAL video. You had many challenges to overcome.. what a lot of procedures.. bottles hanging over head. But you survived. Loved being just out in the field and you talking about what your dogs were doing. etc. Being a part of the experience. Thanks for sharing. Love from the USA!! Prayers that your new sheep work out for you!
Thanks!
I’m with the “Watch the whole vlog” gang. Always something interesting to see.
Awesome thank you!
Glad the Gallagher is working out okay for your set up. Sad to see Meg slowing down.
Better to jab than digging a large hole in the ground.
Love all your videos Cammy 😊 You look tired. Take care of yourself.
Love all the videos Cammy, so don't worry how long they are !
Now that's a proper pair of boots, some times they are a little clumsy but well worth having,
Your videos are always fun, interesting and glad you get rewarded for spreading good practice
Keep up the good work
The Shetland crosses should do well on that ground and probably ideal for overwintering/lambing having the extra cover…
Hopefully!
Hey don’t sweat the small stuff. Sheep is the game! Looking after your flock is paramount. We’re in it for the long haul. 🇨🇦👥🎃
Cammy, another great video. I struggle to understand you at times but love the accent. I made it to the end. What little I know about sheep, I’ve learned from watching your channel. Checking in from Georgia, USA. Might want to get that ankle checked by a professional. I’m hoping to make a trip to Scotland next year.
Great video Cammy the longer you’re videos the better 💪👌👌
Perfect length cammy - glad you contributed to stamping out crusty ears 😂
First time anyone has ever said that to me! 🤭
Great video Cammy! Nice info on the Cobalt!
You’re a diligent, caring shepherd with a fine team. All the best as you head towards tup time! 😊 And echoing Tammy - how’s that ankle?? 😟
Thanks! It's not good i'm still thinking I need to get in for an Xray!
Don't wait for the X-ray Cammy. If you've broken it and it heals wrong, you'll be out having surgery to fix it. And that will tick Lizzie off, it would me, BIG time.
Yep, Cammy, x-ray is the move…👍🏼
@@TheSheepGameCammy get an x-ray before you permanently damage your ankle or leg. Trust me my Fibula is permanently broken and has a bone infection for life. Get it looked at 🩷💙💙💙
The longer videos are good cammy keep them coming my man bloody good show sir
Will do! Thanks!
You say a long video but honestly, every moment was interesting! Did you ever find out where the other lambs belonged?
Never too long! Love every minute ❤
Hi cammy if you want to widen fern outrun next time send as normal if she does the same stop her make her stay walk by her towards the sheep make her stay all the time get half way between her and the sheep then send her again this time give harsh hard GET with a soft come bye or away keep doing it over and over and she'll widen on command.
Always immediately like a video. We know it will be good after all.
Then watch the video to the end. Short or long, it's good.
Read at least 75% of comments if not all, clicking like as I go.
Some people, including yourself, Cammy, are so witty.
🥰 Thanks for your support over such a long period!! 💪🏻
LOVE the longer videos ❤
Always watch to the end Cammy, just catching up on some of your earlier posts and finding an odd one I've missed .
OMG Cammy, I can’t bear to watch the pfaph
🤣🤣
I always watch to the end especially if you are in the fields since there is a chance of watching the dogs work more. I've also heard it helps the algorithm.
I took a chance and bought some zamberlan high boots for shooting best boots I’ve ever had !
5years on treads are worn out but still waterproof !
Cammy anything with sheep and your commentary is fine, didn’t matter how long….when you were setting up your hanging gear…i predicted disaster and you didnt let me down! Blah hope it wasnt a too expensive mistake with the vacc. You need a roof and a third arm!
I always watch Cammy's videos to the end.
I was fascinated all the way to the end. Loved it!
The Shetland x Cheviots look nice. I bet their wool is super quality. A pity it has so little value. If you kinked the drench pipe whilst readjusting it would save you money. You forgot to mention the BBC income. Saw you walking through the field of dreams. There’s a huge increase in maize growing now.
It's surprisingly low but we all need to start somewhere =D
Always to the end love them all
I made it to the end
It's a bugger that fishermen break your fence. Could you maybe make a style at a few places ? Simple to do with a few bits of timber. You shouldn't have to but the sheep would be contained.
Aye that’s what it needs Jimmy! Will try do something for next spring. To be fair the ewes can’t get far… as long as they don’t jump in the river 😅
If people are going to take down fences to trespass anyway, you should just make a stile for the jerks so your fences are intact. Steep stairs and maybe a swing gate so the sheep can't use the stile to escape, yes? Just an idea from someone not a sheep farmer; my brother-in-law had to make a stile for the same reason, he was pasturing horses and a couple goats, a steep stile worked for him tho, no more fence snipping!
Made it to the end. Hello from Texas, USA. I watch all of your videos.
I made it. 🎉
You know, I was thinking though the drenching etc...that's half of the job really as a shepherd. Doing the Vax, drench, shear etc. That and lambing takes up most of our time. It's authentic content.
Always watch the whole video. Keep up the good work
Love you videos keep them up
I absolutely made it to the end as always.
Love the videos no matter how long or short.
A boy Cammy another good video 👍.
The expensive side of sheep, they're upkeep can surprise non farming people.
Nothing was going right for you setting up, I was laughing at you 😂.
Those kind of days are so frustrating.
People need to respect the land, if a fisherman opens a fence he should close it too!!!
Cheers mate. The buggers actually cut the wire!
