Take it easy, Michael, and go slow on the recovery. My husband had his hernia surgery a few years back and was one cranky panda at how long it was taking to recover to normal (it really wasn't, but he forgets he isn't 20 anymore with a bounceback bod). The guitar is sounding great, btw.
I started playing Skyrim LE a few months after it's release. My son bought me the disk as a present. I knew nothing about how to mod but wanted to. That's where you came in. You taught me not only modding concepts, but on many occasion, exhaustively detailed explanations. For all these years, you have been a friend and companion on my Skyrim journey, and I'm grateful. The journey continues. I'm still here. Glad you are too.
@@holymosey2556 My current LE load order is nothing exceptional and quite typical. It includes categories such as; Expansion, Bug Fixes, Game UI, Game Structure, etc. Like most modders, I use TES5Edit for adjusting the load order and creating interim patches for conflict resolution, The process for conflict resolution I use is called 'The Method' and for Skyrim LE, I use zEdit for combining these small patch files (search/google for: Skyrim "The Method"). For editing or fixing existing mods, I use the Creation Kit. Unlike most, I use Wrye Bash exclusively for mod management. I do not use LOOT since I have hundreds of plugins. All of these applications require a certain level of proficiency which can be had fairly easily. What makes my load order work so well are the patch files I create which are load order specific, without which my game would not function as intended.
@@mbraun777 conflict resolution and creating patches with xedit or zEdit is something I need to understand. I currently have 400 mods but something about my game feels off, and I have ran into issues, that aren't game breaking, but could be fixed.

Thank you so much, Michael! You helped me get my first modded Skyrim going years ago. FF a few years, and I'm creating my own mods. I recently did a clean install of Win 11 and lost some of my Skyrim settings. Time to make the jump to AE and clean up some of the mess I've created over the years. Since updating, I haven't been able to get CK working correctly, no matter what I read or tried. After watching this 5:19 video, everything is working perfectly! I hope all is well with you... I'm sure I'll be seeking your knowledge again soon.

To be honest, I only use CK to convert Oldrim mods to work with SE. But I still enjoy watching your videos. your laid-back attitude always cheers me up. Best of luck with your surgery.

Thanks alot for this video I've been fighting vanilla CK for months now to push out my first mod. These fixes are making the CK much more usable much appreciated.
* It Just Works * Holy moly this was helpful. It took something that was going to be a 27-minute task and cut it down to 1. I kept wanting to do other stuff while running creation kit and Ck kept going into (Not Responding) mode.
Thanks, I've just downloaded the creation kit as I was getting fed up with the mods being form 43 instead of 44 even when said mod claims to be SE. The next time I boot up the creation kit, there was no main page to open files but thanks to this vid, up and running again.

I'm still on 1.5.97 version of Skyrim and I'm still scared to take the leap to fully upgrade to AE. I've been on a break for over a year and part of me wants to start from scratch knowing everything will be broken, but it's so much work. I give you props for constantly keeping up with the community. You are one of the best. I'm glad you made it out of surgery safe dude and I hope you recover fast. Keep on doing what you are doing. You are a Godsend and have helped me out along my journey of modding and being a mod author.
Most mods now work with AE (even AE on GOG which is what I use). The big mod that won't work is .netscript framework and a few that require it. Other than that everything is A O K : ). No need to dive in if you aren't comfortable.
I'm on 1.6.640 and many mods work fine, but one VERY IMPORTANT mod that sill hasn't been updated for AE is Dynamic Animation Replacer. So most animation mods won't work on AE. Also, no one seems to know if the author is even working on updating it anymore.
Today 03.14.23 I downloaded the latest Nvidia driver via GeForce Experience and it resolved the Creation Kit flickering issue (Driver 531.29). Thank You for your uploads.

Just keep playing the guitar and before you know it, you will level up. Eventually you will get that music theory rank 1 perk. Level it up to 100 and you will get that coveted guitar hero perk.

Hi, in the About window of the CK it said that it was version 1.6.438, in the title of the window it did not say anything about the version. After doing the steps in the tutorial, in About it says "Creation Kit Platform Extended 0.2" and in the title of the window it says "Creation Kit Skyrim Special Edition [v1.5.73] 64-bit", in the properties-Details of the CreationKit. exe says version 1.6.438. That is ok? I use Skyrim AE version 1.6.640 and I want to use the CK for that version.

Temporarily taking the modified DirectX DLLs provided by ENB out of the main Skyrim folder can be a solution to the flickering thing also, that's what causes it in many cases
I've been obsessed trying to figure out all the reasons my CK wasn't working. I just wanted to get rid of all these form 43's and have a clean build. I gathered up a bunch of breadcrumbs from multiple forums, posters, videos and sources. None of which were the exact answer but all of which gave me a picture and what to do about it. In the end the CK Steam appID was wrong. A bunch of people listed #'s that were not correct or were what was already there. I found the correct appID by going to Steams webstore front, searching for skyrims CK and grabbing the appID from the URL. BAM All my mods i was enabling were finally showing up in my data folder. I feel so accomplished, but it took me 2 days of scouring the internet to get to that resolution. Good lord.
I'm getting a constant crash when trying to click on edit in the cell view window. I am working on a custom worldspace, for Fo4 but if anyone has any knowledge on this issue it would be much appreciated. I just wanna make these mods man!
Why do i keep getting a popup when i try to run ck through mo2 that says 'Version control is enabled. A network location must be selected to proceed. Select OK to locate a ConstructionSetNetwork.ini file and continue? Not sure what its asking me to do. When i click okay it takes me to my Nolvus install folder with Mo2 but not sure from there and dont wanna mess anything up.
I just followed all this and now creation kit doesn't start in mo2? I dont get an error message or anything. It looks like it loads up then nothing happens
@@noodleraptor Go the the Skyrim Special Edition Files (where the video shows you to put them the first time. Scroll down towards the bottom you'll see something like UCKP-Uninstall (sorry paraphrasing from memory) I clicked that and it uninstalled it. Creation Kit runs for me now. Don't know if I'm missing anything important but I was able to convert the mod I need into the right one Hope that helps!
These mods F up my Creation kit i Can't even open it anymore whenever i try to run it gives me a log Window and then Disappears and not Load im use Fallout4 Creation kit i thought it shouldn't mattet HELP
The Tabs at the top of the Dialogue Window are covered up, can only select Misc. A small spreadsheet graph stretches across all but Misc Tab. Any patches or a fix for this? Tried basic reinstall, tried Creation Kit Fix + Update and Unofficial Patch, pc text size not zoomed in. Searched for a few days so I thought I'd try my luck here

You do GREAT tutorials. But i have a problem with my CK. Characters like Faendal has a blackish body and a normal head in the CK window. (He looks normal in-game) Other npcs like Hircine has a normal body and head in the ck window, and he too looks normal in-game. Any idea why my ck is this way? I guess it's nothing since Faendal looks normal in my game but it's really annoying to see it. :/ Everything is installed according to this vid.
Hey hoping you can help. I have a GEForce RTX 3060 series so none of those older drivers work for me. My render window is completely greyed out and occasionally I can see things if I touch the edges of the window. When I'm in the world space, I can zoom into landscape, but individual objects do not render; it's just a blank landscape. Any ideas?
Creation Kit won‘t start at all after applying those fixes. I‘m running latest versions of game and CK. I even tried reinstalling the game and CK and everything several times. Can‘t tell which fix is causing this.

I know you say this may be outdated, but it matches keystroke for keystroke another creators processes right up until the 4th mod you install, he doesnt. For my part, I do not have the CC content, the Anniversary Edition. So I believe I am 100% safe in not following that last install. Is that correct, or am I mistaken in that?
I’ve watched your tutorial videos for setting up SSEDIT and other tools(they are very helpful btw!). I’ve successfully set up each one, but my mods are not appearing specifically with the SSEEDIT tool. My game files and creation club files from AE show up, except for my installed mods with MO2. Any ideas to what I can do, or I may have done wrong? I’ve been researching and can’t find much on this.
If you are creating mods then the Creation Kit is a good place. You have to make sure the version of the CK matches the game you are using. All Bethesda updates made things a bit more complicated to keep things straight. If you are just installing mods you should decided on a mod manager (Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex. I prefer MO2. A lot of people like Vortex. Both are good). Get familiar with the mod manager of your choice then install 1 or two mods. Go in game see that they work. Repeat. Where people go wrong modding (and lose the enjoyment, and sometimes their minds) is installing too many mods too quickly wihtout testing them.... and trying every "must have mod". Its your game. You decide what you must have. Go slow. Enjoy the process.
So I need to patch and fix the patcher to patch the patch and then patch again the patch and smash it, not to mention all the fixes I have to do manually so all the patches work together. Then I can play the game I want to play for 5 minutes until CTD. (Well, actually it hasn't crashed in a while.) And then do it all again because I didn't know that I need a patch. But then I add one more mod and start it all from the beginning. I love modding Skyrim, it's a journey.
I'm on AE and damn near all the mods I use are working fine. Had to disable a few because Animation Replacer needs an update but, almost everything is good to go.
Yea, the big ones fir me are .net script framework and see fixes.... but the vast majority work, even on gog. Mod authors have been updating like crazy. I dont see a reason to not upgrade at this point. You can always keep the AE content and use a downgrader, too.
Yeah, this is why I avoid using the creation kit if it can be helped. XEdit and a script to run the papyrus compiler cover 95% of my Skyrim modding needs. That remaining 5% can be quite painful though. I prefer games where modding is done with proper coding in a language like C# or C++, or Java or maybe supports scripting in xml or lua or python. It's actually easier to learn and easier to set up than using a Bethesda style creation kit. Good video though.
hate the ae edition, completely fucked my collection of mods and i had over 900 plus and still going daily..... just because they added fish and shit i cant load half my wild life shit without crashing and half the animations which i also have about 400off

This happens with no enb installed. If enb also creates this issue it would be a separate topic... but still good to know :)

Someone mentioned that the NVIDIA driver released last week (527.56) has fixed the flickering. It worked for me.

I just followed all this and now creation kit doesn't start in mo2?
I dont get an error message or anything. It looks like it loads up then nothing happens
Ok so I clicked uninstall on backup.bat file and suddenly it works?
Anyone have any idea what that means?
I'm having the same issue. I couldn't find backup.bat so I'm kind of at a loss here. :(
@@noodleraptor Go the the Skyrim Special Edition Files (where the video shows you to put them the first time.
Scroll down towards the bottom you'll see something like UCKP-Uninstall (sorry paraphrasing from memory) I clicked that and it uninstalled it.
Creation Kit runs for me now. Don't know if I'm missing anything important but I was able to convert the mod I need into the right one

These mods F up my Creation kit i Can't even open it anymore whenever i try to run it gives me a log Window and then Disappears and not Load im use Fallout4 Creation kit i thought it shouldn't mattet HELP
The Tabs at the top of the Dialogue Window are covered up, can only select Misc. A small spreadsheet graph stretches across all but Misc Tab. Any patches or a fix for this? Tried basic reinstall, tried Creation Kit Fix + Update and Unofficial Patch, pc text size not zoomed in. Searched for a few days so I thought I'd try my luck here
For anyone just doing this now, you may not have to "downdate" your Nvidia driver. With my rig, the flickering vanished when I loaded a file.

Thanks for all the great tutorials. If not for them, I'd probably be playing vanilla. After looking for the Creation Kit Fixes update on the Nexus, I discovered this: "Creation Kit Platform Extended for Skyrim". Does that mean this will be archived and we'll see a new tutorial from you?

But i have a problem with my CK.
Characters like Faendal has a blackish body and a normal head in the CK window. (He looks normal in-game)
Other npcs like Hircine has a normal body and head in the ck window, and he too looks normal in-game.
Any idea why my ck is this way?
I guess it's nothing since Faendal looks normal in my game but it's really annoying to see it. :/ Everything is installed according to this vid.
Hey hoping you can help. I have a GEForce RTX 3060 series so none of those older drivers work for me. My render window is completely greyed out and occasionally I can see things if I touch the edges of the window. When I'm in the world space, I can zoom into landscape, but individual objects do not render; it's just a blank landscape. Any ideas?

Creation Kit won‘t start at all after applying those fixes. I‘m running latest versions of game and CK. I even tried reinstalling the game and CK and everything several times.
Can‘t tell which fix is causing this.
You'd have to check when the last time each fix was updated. If the newest CK is newer than the fixes they may not work.

New rr8vers don't have it currently. Use to be strobe light fast. Slowed down for the video or some people would get sick

I know you say this may be outdated, but it matches keystroke for keystroke another creators processes right up until the 4th mod you install, he doesnt. For my part, I do not have the CC content, the Anniversary Edition. So I believe I am 100% safe in not following that last install. Is that correct, or am I mistaken in that?
I’ve watched your tutorial videos for setting up SSEDIT and other tools(they are very helpful btw!). I’ve successfully set up each one, but my mods are not appearing specifically with the SSEEDIT tool.

Hello Michael, I have an Nvidia 3070ti graphics card and updated my drivers today and the flickering went away in Creation kit.
The newer drivers (a couple of months after the video posted) should all be good now.

I just bought SE + AE . I’ve forgotten all about modding and now I don’t know where to start 😢
If you are creating mods then the Creation Kit is a good place. You have to make sure the version of the CK matches the game you are using. All Bethesda updates made things a bit more complicated to keep things straight. If you are just installing mods you should decided on a mod manager (Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex. I prefer MO2. A lot of people like Vortex. Both are good). Get familiar with the mod manager of your choice then install 1 or two mods. Go in game see that they work. Repeat. Where people go wrong modding (and lose the enjoyment, and sometimes their minds) is installing too many mods too quickly wihtout testing them.... and trying every "must have mod". Its your game. You decide what you must have. Go slow. Enjoy the process.

So I need to patch and fix the patcher to patch the patch and then patch again the patch and smash it, not to mention all the fixes I have to do manually so all the patches work together. Then I can play the game I want to play for 5 minutes until CTD. (Well, actually it hasn't crashed in a while.) And then do it all again because I didn't know that I need a patch. But then I add one more mod and start it all from the beginning. I love modding Skyrim, it's a journey.
Except that the creation kit has nothing to do with playing the game 😉

Nah, CK can be added to the GoG version. It's nowhere near as easy as it is with Steam, but it can be done.
Does it matter for creation kit whether youre running the AE version of skyrim or the SE version of skyrim?

I'm on AE and damn near all the mods I use are working fine. Had to disable a few because Animation Replacer needs an update but, almost everything is good to go.

Yea, the big ones fir me are .net script framework and see fixes.... but the vast majority work, even on gog. Mod authors have been updating like crazy. I dont see a reason to not upgrade at this point. You can always keep the AE content and use a downgrader, too.
Yeah, this is why I avoid using the creation kit if it can be helped. XEdit and a script to run the papyrus compiler cover 95% of my Skyrim modding needs. That remaining 5% can be quite painful though. I prefer games where modding is done with proper coding in a language like C# or C++, or Java or maybe supports scripting in xml or lua or python. It's actually easier to learn and easier to set up than using a Bethesda style creation kit. Good video though.

hate the ae edition, completely fucked my collection of mods and i had over 900 plus and still going daily..... just because they added fish and shit i cant load half my wild life shit without crashing and half the animations which i also have about 400off
