I can recall that at that time I was 7-8 years old and I was at my nani' s place, a village in hills of Uttarakhand because of the summer vacations. My cousins were also there and all of us used to discuss this topic. We were very young and we used to get afraid even when normal monkeys used to visit our home and the garden.. sweet memories ☺️☺️ and thank you....

From Ghaziabad and clearly remember this incident. And this was a very severe, very real fear that people developed during this time. Although fortunately we never saw any shadow or creature, everybody in my family and neighborhood stopped sleeping on the terrace. Everybody got inverters installed at home :P. Even if it wasn't real (which is evident now) it was really really terrifying. This was the first time I got to know and experience mass hysteria.
Of course, later I started to wonder if this was a conspiracy theory promulgated by the inverter companies (unproven of course). :P :P

Well most of the people have forget the braid cutting hysteria, but for us North Indians, it was like a nightmare!!! Dude! I literally remember every damn day we used to hear something new about it. It was totally traumatizing! But nothing was concluded truly and the case was dismissed. But what was that? i wonder sometimes...

We also had a mass hysteria during 2015 Nepal earthquake. I remember every 1-2 hour someone would shout "Earthquake" and everyone would run from their home 😂 because of that people stopped sleeping in night or would to sleep in parks. And couple mainstream news channel even said that a 13.5 mangnitude Earthquake is coming and everyone should get out of their houses. And there were astrologers giving "time" for the earthquake.

I still remember this case. People in Kolkata were also panicked at a certain point of time. It was basically the news channels. We were stressed. My mother used to say to my father to lock the doors and windows tightly every night. We were also terrified. Now I feel all of this was bogus. But I remember this madness.
Really i am from Pakistan this happened to my cousin so in our village in summer we sleep outside our houses not on the roof but outside the house this same situation happened to my cousin he was in a deep sleep he felt like a terrifying looking monkey is sitting on his chest beating him he tried defending himself and the monkey looking creature fell from the charpayi and ran away clibming the walls and never seen again in the village

I was born and bred in Delhi. At that time, we as kids were not allowed to play in the evening especially after sunset. Few years later, we had also seen the time when Delhi was under the horror of a witch in saree who particularly asks for Onion and Roti. And people started putting print of their palms on their walls.

Not only in Delhi happened in rajasthan too...There is a place called, "Mehandipur Balaji" so we were told that the "chudails" lives there it's a temple where they tie them so that they don't escape. But one made it and she is freely roaming around the city and nobody knows where she is and asks for food with the same roti and onion, So as a kid we were too scared and our family members started printing their palms on the walls not a normal one with the use of Mehandi. Year 2004-2005. Damn it was too scary.

When a rumor was spread that there is a witch who comes to the houses of some people and the one who spots her becomes a stone that day we ( the whole street and especially our cousins and we gathered started living together for 2 days )

I am from ghaziabad and I grew up hearing a bunch of stories from my mother. The situation was that bad that the women's were afraid to go to terrace in afternoon also, they tied ropes in thier rooms to dry clothes.
I am also from ghaziabad i haven't heard about this incident may be becoz i born in 2004???
In Delhi, us kids used to play late night after dinner during summer vacation but we were told to stay indoors at night because of the murderous monkey man on the loose!!

i remember this event. i was studying those days in 10th or 11th class. I grew up in North India though i am a South Indian. apart from monkey man story, in 90s there were KAALE KACHE WALE..the gang who applies oil on their body and wear black nickers and do robbery and killing..also on my specific area..we had maidaan (ground) named as kaali kuti ground named after a notorious black dog who bit many kids...so yeah 90s was so much happening era lol
