This has got to be the most exciting form of motorsports today. They are probably some of the most talented drivers out there. To control a car that must be going 100 mph plus on a slick dirt surface takes a well setup car,amazing talent and balls.
V8 supercars, formula 1, drag racing, drifting..... Not even remotely close in the skill levels of these guys. The best of the best in any motorsport.....

Lmao, group b cars were much faster/unsafe than modern wrc cars, group b cars were ~900kg/500-650bhp and modern wrc cars 1200kg/380bhp. One reason b group ended was the cars were just too fast and risky to drive.
@@Ytfrot Sorry but WRC cars are faster on a stage. No discussion about that. The current WRC cars handle corner better on all surfaces because of considerably better grip. That s due to improved suspension, tyre and brake. WRC cars can enter a corner and exit with a relatively higher speed than old Group B cars. WRC cars are so stable with straight line around corners that it makes you brain think that they are slow but they definitely aren t. Group B cars have to brake immensely with lots of sliding all over the place to enter corner then exit wildly spiting gravel because of that high HP and poor grip all that makes you think that they are faster. Even with fewer HP WRC are faster than Group B cars on stage.
Apart from the Isle of Man TT nothing in motorsport comes even close to the bravery and raw skill and insanity of rallying on this level. It just blows my mind.

Nowadays WRC sounds good but if you would back to eg. 2010 you would change your mind :). There was a period of gold era what is Group B and Group A which has sounds amazing. Early WRC were also a beasts but later, when Subaru gone and only Ford and Citroen were able to competitive, this sport started to be worse and worse year by year. Hopefully everything have back to normal.
In American there would be a 4 foot fence which you would have to stand 20’ behind if you wanted to spectate. I like the Finnish model of letting your common sense decided if you live or die.

GOD I LOVE THAT!!...I have been building dirt rally cars since I was 16..only problem is there was almost nobody to race...just ran balls out by myself...I'm 69 now and I've got the jeep in the thumbnail and (my favorite) 2 - 1st Gen Isuzu Amigo's...and they are FAST!!!
Awesome circuit, nice smooth track so plenty of power down, more predictable steering feedback for fast cornering, great camera work and the drivers would be loving that surface.

F1 is different than this. This is thrill and adrenaline pumping where as formula one is about being fast and timings. Both of these races takes different set of skills. You can't compare those but rally is much more thrilling .

It really is time for people to stop going on about Group B, the current cars are so much faster than anything before. Right now is the real golden age of rallying!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think people enjoyed Group B just because the cars were fast, I think it also had to do with the fact that those cars were probably a lot more tougher to drive and safety at the time wasn't a concern so no features for that either. Hence you would need to have some massive balls to drive those cars. Probably the main reason Group B was so widely respected.

As WRC always seems to fuck up the simple task of getting on Tv to the masses these days, I have zero idea who drives and or what teams etc. Think Loeb was still the main man last time and that's surely 15 years ago? Anyway, these cars take those jumps so well. It's mind blowing how much faster this stuff is than when I was watching back when it was in Channel 4. Colin McRae would have loved these cars.
Crazy how modern cars tires handle. I got wrc10 game and it's a pretty good approximation, even if not full sim mb. In cockpit view with a wheel it feels pretty fun. These cars seem so stable compared to old rally cars.

As WRC always seems to fuck up the simple task of getting on Tv to the masses these days, I have zero idea who drives and or what teams etc. Think Loeb was still the main man last time and that's surely 15 years ago? Anyway, these cars take those jumps so well. It's mind blowing how much faster this stuff is than when I was watching back when it was in Channel 4. Colin McRae would have loved these cars.
