I got one last week. I drove 3.5 hours to get it. I drove it back and got 30mpg driving 65-75mph on CA-99 from Visalia to Sacramento. I was impressed, because it hadn't been broken in yet. I love it.

Just wondering if you selected Sports mode as the fuel economy does seem low.

Uhh...the chargers are behind the driver's and passenger's seats. hehehe Fuel economy not bad. At the start, the computer showed an estimated range of 500+ miles, and you've already gone 516.5 miles, with 122 miles left to go on the computer. So, I guess 26.7 mpg is not bad. Love it! Great video!

Best overall midsize hybrid crossover. But you really should have been taking advantage of the advanced levels of brake regen, that's kinda the point of a hybrid.

Thank you for the review. I have a ‘24 hybrid and after 5500 miles, I get around 27-29 mpg. I drive way slower than how I drive my CX-30. I don’t know how to get 34 mpg as Hyundai claimed. Otherwise I love my Santa Fe. Forget about wireless charging, technology isn’t good enough.

That's what I've been told; hybrid battery kicks in less on highway. Just got one, hope to see that. For 6/7 passenger wagon, will take 26/27 during long road trips since those will be few. Over heating charger and firm seats not looking forward to... Oh well😅

I think Hyundai's claim of 35mpg highway is a stretch in real world driving situations, maybe doing 65mph with zero passengers etc. LOL - Hybrid's generally don't do that well on the highway anyway as they are mostly using the ICE with very little battery intervention unlike city driving. I have a 2023 Santa fe hybrid, same powertrain and weighs less than the 24/25's and best I have gotten on highway is 29mpg at 70-75mph. However, I do mostly around town driving and regularly get 32-34 mpg. Summer months are better as the battery responds better. Anyway thanks for an honest real world review.

Hyundai has a great deal of explaining as to the low mpg as others stated the fuel efficiency extremely lower than the EPA ratings as well.

Your beef is with the EPA. Their mileage course is not very realistic. Terrain makes a huge difference with a Hybrid also. We've had ours for 3 months now. Overall average is 31+mpg. It does better in hilly areas, the flatlands not as good.

  • @jeffreyarmbruster752

I like the review of the Hybrid as we were wondering if the wait would have been worth it. We have a Gas Calligraphy. Did your Mom adjust the front seat (my wife is 4'8" she loves it)? The passenger front has more adustability than most Driver seats in other vehicles. The driver seat although firm has so much adjustment it is quite easy to make it comfortable even for my wife. There are numerous places to plug in a phone (on the driver and passenger seats to name a few). Added unsafe bonus The driver seat may go into almost zero gravity position while driving. ;-). Our gas model gets almost 27-30 mpg on the highway with Cruise activated. Combined it is right at 23 mpg over 7000 miles. This car is literally almost autonomous (70-80%) to drive when the adaptive cruise is on and lane centering is activated. The steering wheel is touch sensitive as well. On long stretches there is little input needed. Although it does take a while to get used to. However, when you let it do what it is capable of doing it works very well. The lane change is a "neat" thing, however it is also making some assumptions as to how interactive you are with the steering. If you "drive" the vehicle like a normal car it will cancel the "assisted" lane change. On long stretches of highway you can simply relax your grip and let the car do the driving. This alone will make that 3-6 hour trip a lot less stressful in the end. You didnt mention the rear view mirror/rear camera. Also one of the comments mentioned the Eye tracking feature on the steering column. You can look away for brief periods and it not give you a warning. Anything longer and it will yell at you. Unlike most other adaptive systems it will not shake the steering wheel. It lowers the volume on the radio and displays a message on the screen directly in front of you. This car has so many built in safety features it is unreal. For reference we also own a 2021 Sonata Limited Hybrid getting 48-52 mpg. We were told the actual mileage difference of the two models by the dealership. It wasnt a large enough gap and the hybrids werent available at the time. We are still the only new Santa Fe in our small town.

Hybrid's aren't at their most efficient on the highway, especially at over 70mph, and these only have a 6 speed automatic. I also think you find the seats firm because you're about 100 pounds.

You must not have had the cruise control on because if you had, the FAW camera would have given you warnings and eventually shut the cruise off for taking your eyes off the road to look at the camera. This is a huge issue with new Hyundai vehicles. They have a great self driving system and then ruin it by using a camera that watches your eyes to make sure you don’t take your eyes off the road.

First, aren’t you using an old iPhone? Older models can experience overheating just by running Android Auto. Why am I asking this?
Because the "Daily Motor" channel did a similar road trip and they reported that the phone charged wirelessly without any issues and there was no overheating.
So, isn't it possible that the problem might not be with the car?
Second, does this person even know about cars before reviewing them?
They filled the car with 6 people and mostly drove at 70-80 mph, and now they're complaining about the EPA mileage?
Is there any car that gets EPA mileage when it's fully loaded and driven at 100 mph?
Third, why was the HDA lane change designed that way? Use your brain for a second and think about it.
Imagine the situation where you misses a lane change. Should the car override the driver’s input when you’re turning the wheel? The car should prioritize the your’s input.
The car has a touch-sensitive steering wheel that recognizes your hands just by resting them on it. You can even lightly tap the left or right blinker to initiate a lane change.
Fourth, they're complaining about the seats. If the seats are too soft, you're more likely to get motion sickness.
Also, why complain about discomfort and then drive for 3 straight hours without taking breaks? Isn’t that just stupid?
