    In this video we take to a local Tripoli Idaho launch where I flew my Wildman Punisher 4 on an Aerotech M2050 Propellant X load. Unfortunately, the up part was the only good part.
    In other news, a local named Terry got his Level 3 certification on an M1500 Mojave Green and my dad flew Bald Moms Rock, our Extreme Darkstar, on an Aerotech M1780 New Blue Thunder.

    Glad you found the guy and helped to rescue him. A rocket is worth far less than a life.

    I've destroyed a 75/5120 when I had an M1780NT CATO and take out 50% of my rocket. The electronics survived thanks to me using stupid long tethers in my rockets and taking the hit of the CATO. I've also destroyed a Pro54 6GXL when flying an L730C in a 54mm minimum diameter broke the airframe into 5 different pieces bring the casing with the fin can in ballistic.

    Sorry about the loss of your Punisher. That really sucks. It launched just as we were driving back to the flight line from recovering our rocket and boy was it loud.

    My two favourite hobbies, rocketry and RC planes. Just keep doing them until something crashes. Bin it and do it again. The cost adds up, but it's so much fun.

    Ugh, what a bummer. That M2050 was right proper for that rocket. Too bad about the casing, tracker and altimeters, too. I'm going to fly my 4" Punisher on the L850 again at Midwest Power - looking for the same flight profile as Airfest.

    Thanks for your videos. Really appreciate them. I've watched this video 2x and I wonder if it wasn't painted bronze if it would have been visually easier to find in the desert? Though, it could be 10 miles away I guess. Thanks again.

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the bronze paint likely isn't hindering anything. I'm sure it's a couple feet deep at the tail end. My parents even went and looked for it for two days the next weekend. It's looking like it's gone for good. Though, there's not likely much left.

      @@RocketVlogs I can see that. Coming in aerodynamic and ballistic from 15K feet...it was probably going 300mph. Well, sorry for your loss. Love the channel. Ive joined Tripoli and NAR. Just have to get the guts to build my first rocket in 45 years (I used to launch a lot of backyard Estes rockets back when dinosaurs roamed the planet.)

    Hey man still cheaper than some other hobbies (like drift cars haha). Looking forward to my L2 cert after a 10 year break form the hobby and I keep personally justifying costs as they are less then usual adult hobbies like golf. Haven't come across many convicts playing the woods of the northeast but the thought always crosses my mind hiking!

    My md flight well on the boost. We lost the signal and heard a thud, we went with the club and people found my rocket, perfect condition with the drogue and main out. Maybe the weirdest thing I have ever seen.

    You could fly it in the direction of the signal you were getting from the rocket during its decent?

      It could be the altimeter wires use as a switch taped to the outside can’t withstand Mach 2

    • @RocketVlogs
      @RocketVlogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rickytrinh989 They're more than capable of Mach 2.
      It was moving pretty quick when it was arcing over. I think the horizontal speed may have been enough to combat the charges.
      I did make a mistake that I'm perfectly willing to admit. On the pad, one of my altimeters was only beeping to signal it had continuity on a single charge. The second altimeter was good to go and I trusted that one would be fine. I should have pulled it off the pad and corrected the issue on my backup alt, but didn't. Live and learn!

      @@RocketVlogs Bummer ... looked good goin' up!
      Question - I haven't flown anything, certainly like this, since I tried my hand in grade school a hundred years ago with an Estes Trident (I put too much paint on it) so pardon my lack of knowledge. Are there dataloggers with downlink than can provide a GPS track (thinking you might be able to search more closely to where it might have landed before impact)?
      Thanks! Love what you are doing - new subscriber btw.
