  • Welcome back to another video!!
    Nurse Practitioner program can be very demanding, with all the didactic work and the clinical hours that need to be done, many nurse often opt to stop working during these 2 yrs. But, you do not have to! YES! you can continue to work making full time salary while only working less than part time. In today's video I am sharing how I went through my NP program while maintaining my salary.

    I agree. It’s totally doable and definitely worth working during NP school to lessen or eliminate student loans once you graduate! 😄

    I start my FNP program in 2 weeks. I plan to continue doing travel nurse contracts up until clinicals. Then get a PRN job while completing clinicals.

      Ebonee B congratulations on starting NP journey! Definitely good idea I think with the PRN job, but whatever works for you and her schedule

      Ebonee B congratulations, I start next week. Are you working a crisis assignment? I’m trying to see if working crisis contract 48 hours a week and going to school is manageable.

    Totally possible to be working. I personally am doing the FNP program part time and working full time as a float pool RN but I’m about to start a local travel RN position next week. Working full time allowed me to pay for school out of pocket and not take out any loans. Got 2 more semesters left God willing. So it’s totally doable. I will say that having a solid support system is crucial especially if you have children 🙂

      That is the way to go my dear! I did half student loan and half out of pocket myself. Good luck to you

    I agree 100% with having a support system! My wife is solidity onboard with this and really encourages me in my studies. When I switched to PRN I only have to work 6 shifts in 6 weeks AND I got a 30% increase in pay!

    Great video !!! Hello from Maryland!! I was fortunate to work weekend alternative on Sat and Sun and I was off M-F to allow time for clinicals. Please do a video on the credentialing process, our fellow NPs need help!

    I worked 24hrs a week in the beginning of NP school but now I am per diem which is better so I can make my own schedule. I think it’s good to work to keep your nursing skills.

    • @fromcnatonp
      @fromcnatonp  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree about keeping nursing skills, Per diem is definitely the way to go bc its more flexible and you work the days you can. Good luck moving forward

      You have a lot going on, but I always say what ever someone can handle and maintain their sanity and graduate is the goal! but 4-5 months will breeze by quickly. Good luck moving forward!!

    Hello. Love your videos. I am a NP student. I am currently taking Advanced Patho and I am not working right now. This class is not the easiest so I am taking a break so I can focus on school. My plan is to pick up some hours during the break but not sure if I can work next semester bc I will be taking Advanced Pharm and Assessment course. If you have any advise about how I can balance a work life and school, please advise.

    • @abenalarbi6572

      Thanks so much for watching! Advanced Patho is a tough class I almost didn't make it through that class, so I know the feeling. I had to take a step back as well to really focus. Balancing school and all is not easy, that is why I say if you can take a step back from working so much to focus on school it will help a lot also a very good support system. I also plan my days in block schedule so that I am still spending time with the family but also studying. Good luck! remember this will not last forever 😊

    By system wide nurse, do you mean a float nurse or is that different position?

    • @fromcnatonp
      @fromcnatonp  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the hospital system has many location so instead of me being a float nurse in one hospital I was a ICU float nurse for 3 of there 5 hospital, It was amazing bc I only picked up my days a week in advance and I would work nights making an extra $6hr for shift differential.

    hello Laurie-Ann, I am here in the Philippines. Can I please ask? If I finished my NP training here in the Philippines, would i have the chance to apply for a job there in the US?

    • @fromcnatonp
      @fromcnatonp  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure about that, I do know nurses who study in say Jamaica ( using Jamaica bc I am from there and know a bit more about it) will take NCLEX and will be eligible to work as a nurse in the US as far as the NP thing not so sure. Assuming if you have all credential and you sit the boards here I don't see why not. Thanks for watching
