    Fact check: @bdantowitz just reminded me that NHZ was already established in 2021! Sorry ❤️

      I live for well-informed Roundnet discourse 🥰

    Charles knows what’s up. Excellent idea! I can’t wait to try Revol! It seems like a great direction to pursue. It simplifies needing 2 lines. It balances serving. It decreases areas to cover defensively with the no drop zone. Also not having different net tensions and not having pockets sounds amazing!

    I have been thinking about two receivers for such a long time but have never tried it out, would be fun to finally do it :)
    I especially liked the strategic point Charles mentioned, where you might try to serve more to a player that has weaker receiver, but then that player might stand on your "weak" serve.

      Been wanting a version of this for years. It enhances the meta of the game and makes it way more complex. Now returners have to communicate and play to their strengths and weaknesses while being very aware of the same from the other players.

    I've tried having an outer out of bounds circle of like 20 ft or so, especially when I'm somewhere with limited space. It really helps players have longer rallies and work on short hits instead of just pounding the ball every time.

    A small but important change would be the third set smaller cap like in Beachvolleyball. Third set with much more excitement

    Nice video, but please fix your mic audio so that it's not only on the right channel but on both. On headphones it's really terrible to listen to :D

    Also revol at 4 foot is realllyy nice

      I see the problem in marking that line. A lot of communities struggle with not being allowed to spray. With the NHZ there are workarounds with mats but if you have a 4 foot line that plays a role in the game and not only for serving you have to have it marked with spray (or indoors tape).

    Adding a bigger ball has one major problem on the business side… every body that bought pro balls either for tournaments/league and/or for personnal use would have loads of balls for nothing and they would need to buy tons of the new one. I mean most places would continue to play on the old pro ball because of that no?

    I really dislike the change that Charles suggested in making a smaller "net" and also removing the net and making it a solid underground. I dont know how you could implement that while still making the game easy to transport to beaches and parks etc. as this is a big selling point for many casual buyers

      @TOPSRoundnet  ปีที่แล้ว

      True! I think his main focus is high competitive games. Maybe pushing revol to be the roundnet set for Olympic games etc.

    Serve height rules need to be changed immediately. There should not be different rules for different sized players. Literally no respectable international sport has rules like that.

      I can’t say it’s my favorite sport, but I have a lot of respect for baseball, which has a strike zone based on player size

    • @skylerboles6117
      @skylerboles6117 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bdantowitz I know baseball is the only example of this. I do respect it, but can you think of another? Is there a decent reason there is only one outlier?

      What do you propose then? 🧐

      I don’t think the serve receive height should be altered. Shorter players have some advantages with a smaller strike zone but also aren’t as tall to jump for blocks on higher hits. I feel it checks and balances and any sort of mechanic or “the rule is 5.564 feet” would be too clunky.
      We’re coming off the greatest Roundnet year in the sports young history. I think the right moves we’re made with 2023 rules - not many.

      @@spikedlemonadepod different body heights and shapes will have advantages and disadvantages in every sport. You don't have to have different rules for different size people. This would be like for taller basketball players having to shoot from further away from the hoop because they are taller and it's easier for them. They would have to shoot from 1 foot further in order to have the result and points as a shorter player shooting from closer. It's an absolutely ludicrous rule from an objective standpoint. It is also extremely hard to judge subjectively with the movement, athletic stance, and depth perception.
