    I'm so glad Breedlove finally got their guitars in the hands of players who don't squeak their way through their demos. They really know how to play an acoustic guitar.

    One of my first primo guitars was a Breedlove cedar top over East Indian rosewood back and sides. It was a superb fingerstyle guitar, but it was too responsive to play hard, when all the overtones just conspired to send the thing into overdrive. But I'll say that for what it was built for, it beat the socks off any Taylor the store had at the time. The two on this video have great tone and just goes to prove Breedlove still has the talent to make some awesome guitars.

    I think what's most interesting for me at least is the versatility and diversity of your store and inventory. You have brought me more interesting and great sounding guitars than anyone has before. It's like ,OK, there are other guitar and string instruments makers out there besides Gibson, Martin, Gretsch, etc. Thanks guys. Keep on smiling.

    I presently own an Oregon Concert model and a Legacy Concertina. I love their guitars. I started out with their exotic Pursuit models and progressed up.
    For me, they stack up well with other American made guitars for quality, sound, and beauty.
    Great for fingering styles. I’m not a heavy strummer so this works for me.
    Thank you for your videos

    Great video, you guys!
    👏👏👏
    Edit: after hearing them side by side, I have to say that I prefer the balance in tone of the Concert one. More articulation, but with really good volume and bass. Like you, I respect Breedlove for doing their own thing, instead of cloning the guitar designs that Martin invented a century ago. Same reason why I respect PRS, as their electrics are not yet another Tele, Strat, Les Paul or ES 335.

    Great presentation about the Breedlove body types/sizes!!
    Breedlove Premier series, really Breedloves in general, are wonderful, high-quality instruments!
    In fact when I was looking to purchase my dream guitar it ended up coming down to a choice between a Furch Yellow Master's Choice Gc-CR and the Breedlove Premier Concert Redwood-Rosewood.
    While the Furch won out, it simply had more of what I was personally looking for in my dream guitar (and I couldn't take them both home that day), I sure would love to get one of those Premiers someday as well. It would add another color into my sonic palette.
    I actually have a lower end Breedlove, the Eco Discovery S Concert Red Cedar-African Mahogany and even a Breedlove at that price point has an impressive build quality.
    Of course it doesn't have the same quality tone woods or voicing process as their made
    -in-Bend instruments, but it does show their commitment to quality as well as sustainability at all levels!!

      My first Breedlove appeared after the Taylor Academy 12 (mahogany neck) and a 12e that was sold by a music store to make room for new inventory. The Pursuit Exotic Concert E- Sitka/Koa ($500) as I liked the straight pull headstock design used by one of our praise band guitarists at First Presbyterian Church. When Bob and Kurt at Taylor decided they needed to add a smaller body design to their product line, Steve Breedlove brought in a concert body guitar that he owned, and they traced out the design, changed some lines, and begat Taylor Guitars' #2 Concert guitars (Academy 12, 912, 512, etc.). Steve and another Taylor coworker started Breedlove Guitars, and when Steve returned to Taylor, his brother Kim returned to take over the company from his work building banjos at a well-known company. Breedlove Guitars has great QC as they ship wood sets from Bend overseas, and check out the finished product in Bend, Oregon before shipping to dealers. I've since bought two solid wood B-stock concerts (European spruce/Khaya mahogany) given to my kids, a non-signature and a signature Jeff Bridges "All In This Together" (each well under the $500 mark) since "B-stock" just shows the finish did not adhere to the plastic binding (No big deal.). The non-signature one has more of a satin open-pore finish and was very open and warm out of the box, and my SIL loves it. (My first all-solid wood guitar is a Cole Clark Angel 2 Redwood/Blackwood auditorium-body, 2 referring to the trim level, which is incredible!) Heeding the advice, my cases each have a Case Humitar and HumiReader for my dry climate of the Inland Northwest. 45-55% RH, 65 degrees F.

    I've learned to genuinely love Breedlove. Their American models in particular strike me as what Taylor would have been if Taylor had continued to evolve in its original direction.
    Between the two ... well, let's just say I have three current production Breedloves (two of them US models) and one (thirty year-old) Taylor.

    The video was great! Both guitars really sounded very nice. Personally I’d go with the concerto model. I don’t use picks, so I want a sound with plenty of bass. I want to get a concerto with murtlewood back and sides and a spruce top. Keep the videos coming.

    Those are beautiful. You guys sound great. I’ve heard that Breedlove has really slim/thin necks, which I like. Does the Breedlove neck compare with the Martin SC-13e low profile necks? Thank you guys!

  • @juliemulie1805
    @juliemulie1805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm hoping you do a comparison with the full Oregon line of Breedlove. I've owned an Oregon sitka-myrtlewood concertina for a few years, but am wishing for the full 14 fret concerto with the cutout. I feel squeezed with a 12 fret and a capo. Breedlove makes a more "female" shaped guitar.

      @@AcousticShoppe to my experience, there isn't a "standard C Shape" as Taylor describes their's as a C, Martin has several profiles that can be a C, Gibson has several C shapes. So is it like a Taylor neck profile or Chunky Gibson C?

      Just looking for a guitar that sounds good for finger style percussion and strumming it doesn’t have to look all shiny and nice just sound good with good action and intonation Mike daws guitar is around 5 grand but i really believe you can get a similar sound with even a 1000 dollar guitar because I’ve seen so many people talk about it and different models most keep on coming back to Yamaha but I’m not sure which model or even if Yamaha is the best option there’s to many to choose from ?…. :)

    • @AcousticShoppe
      @AcousticShoppe  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Breedlove guitars definitely fit the style you're talking about, we have a local fingerstyle guitarist, Matt Harp and he is a breedlove sponsored artist. Here's a video that he's made with us talking a bit about Breedlove: th-cam.com/video/sBUuqjqIM5M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kt29qHEWFgaugWSG
      Breedlove does also make some inexpensive models: www.theacousticshoppe.com/shop/Instruments/Guitars/Breedlove.htm
      That said Yamaha also make s a great guitar, we would probably recommend their FS body size for what you're looking for. Specifically we feel like the FS830 is probably the best starting point for Yamahas: www.theacousticshoppe.com/shop/Instruments/Guitars/Yamaha/p/Yamaha-FS830-SpruceRosewood-Concert-Body-Acoustic-Guitar-0092-x79944231.htm
      Hope this helps! Remember, the best option is always the guitar that sounds the best to you. Right now you're for sure looking in the right direction, both Yamaha and Breedlove are fantastic companies.

    As a Breedlove owner, I wish they'd get rid of that ugly wave headstock and stick with the assymetrical headstock. I would consider a concerto but not while it has that headstock on it.

      @AcousticShoppe Exactly! Your video explains why Breedlove designed the assymetrical headstock the way they did. So what's the reason behind their wave headstock design? Just get rid of the ugly wave headstock. It's ruining the look of their guitars. (Sorry I'm so late at replying to your earlier comment)
