Fixing The Paint On This New Shelby GT500 Signature Edition. I Can't Believe How It Was Delivered!

  • This brand new 2021 Shelby GT500 Signature Edition came off the truck with 19 miles on it looking like this! Some panels were worse than others, but I've seen $30,000 Hyundais in better shape than this off the lot. Seriously! There are several other issues going on aesthetically that are out of my control, but I'll fix what's within my power. After polishing, I topped the paint with Ceramic Pro to make the paint pop and to make future maintenance easier.
    You may notice lint and dust on the paint in the final shots. The coating was still fresh when filming this, so lint from the towel kept clinging to it, and we're also entering pollen season here in the south, so it was near impossible keeping the panels I was filming totally clean.

    I like this video. Shows paint damage, then gets right to you fixing it. Not a bunch of talking nonsense.

    I know black magnifies swirls and scratches but i don't think I've seen a brand new car look like that from the dealer. They must've ran it through an auto wash several times. You did a helluva job bringing it back.

    Your foaming sprayer without a pressure washer works much better than the one I have and the suds from that bottle does the whole car! What brand is it?

    • @HamptonsTouch
      @HamptonsTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was hooked up to a pressure washer, albeit a not very good one. I was using a Greenworks pressure washer in this video, but I would not recommend it to anyone. I’m currently using a Ryobi electric pressure washer.

    Nice work. I use hex logic foam pads. Can you tell me what setup gives you the best results?

    • @HamptonsTouch
      @HamptonsTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a few different polish/pad combos I use depending on what I’m working on, but for cutting, I always stick with Lake Country wool pads for rotary and Griots Garage microfiber pads for DA along with Meguiars M100 compound. For refinement, I typically use HD Speed or One by 3D on a yellow Rupes pad. A lot of people don’t like HD Speed, and it might sound hackish to use, but I find the wax additive in it makes removing the product from the paint so much easier, and especially on soft paint where the polish tends to stick to it and requires a good amount of tug and pull to get it all off which can scratch the paint back up. I also use Menzerna 3800 with a black Lake Country pad for some finicky paints, but mostly works great on harder paints like Mercedes-Benz. I hope this helps!

    OMG, I cannot believe a $100K car brand new looks like that. WTH Ford??? First thing I did when I was looking at my 2019 Mustang GT with Performance Pack 1, was to inspect the paint. A few imperfections, but nothing like this. Dam!!!

    Now the question is will the owner maintain this coating properly?

    • @HamptonsTouch
      @HamptonsTouch  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve maintained it for him, but the car has unfortunately gone back and forth to the dealership for a broken hood latch, where it sat outside for several weeks, then an employee of the owner gave it a dry wipe down with a microfiber and roughed the paint all up. So I had to do it a second time.

    • @HamptonsTouch
      @HamptonsTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always tell my clients when they’re buying new cars to avoid allowing them to clean it, even when its in for service. The worst part about this particular car is that it came directly from Shelby like this, it never went to the dealership. One would think they’d have better quality control there, and then they had the nerve to deny it was their fault.

  • @jonnc.5364

  • @dominicksforza3484

    Looking this bad after spending $6 figures on the car I would've sent it back to the dealer and let those jokers fix this paint thing. This problem is total BS and never should've been sent off the lot looking this bad.

    • @HamptonsTouch
      @HamptonsTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What’s worse is that this came directly from Shelby themselves like this. Their excuse was that “every car needs some polishing when new” and refuses to cover the cost to fix it.

    • @dominicksforza3484
      @dominicksforza3484 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's borderline insane, now I know for sure I won't be buying one of those... If Caroll were still with us your car would've looked as you'd expect it to look. I'll stick with my gen 6 ZL1 that can't touch what you're putting down, I'm only at 647 to the wheels.
