  • The airport is one of those special places that can be a mix of pure excitement, childlike wonder, and unbearable stress! Traveling can be fun and all, but most people wanna get through the airport part of it as quickly as possible.
The 3-1-1 rule (3 oz per container inside a transparent plastic bag) tells you how to pack liquids to get through the security checks at the airport. But there are many other ways of making sure that your airport experience is smooth, and one of them is to be ready for any situation. Here are 14 tips that will help you become an expert.

    SUMMARY:
    - Avoid the crowds and wasted time by checking the flight status online early and often.
    - Knowing ahead of time where to park and how far the open spots are from the terminal can save you a lot of anxiety on your drive in.
    - Most airlines now have online, mobile, or booth check-ins.
    - A handy trick is to pack what you think you need and then cut that all-in half. Cut it in half again if you can!
    - It’s always better to have a couple extra hours of hanging around in the airport than being in such a hurry that you barely make your flight!
    - If you really must take a checked bag and a carry on, then get the kind that rolls on 4 wheels.
    - Knowing ahead of time where each part of the airport is located - be it terminals, trains, security, or even just the bathroom in case of an emergency - is an underappreciated travel tip.
    - If you’re flying in the cooler months, a jacket with big pockets is key. After passing through security, you can quickly throw your phone, wallet, and passport in a pocket before grabbing the rest of your belongings.
    - Don’t get up to the check-in desk, security officer, or boarding gate agent and THEN start digging for your papers. Have all your documents in hand before it’s your turn in line.
    - If you’re traveling in or out of the US, see if you can apply for TSA PreCheck. Members of this program can get through security and passport control a lot faster than other travelers.
    - Each TSA officer has the right to demand that you give up whatever they deem a suspicious item.
    - Technically, cracking jokes about having explosives or chemicals in your bag isn’t illegal, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get in trouble for it.
    - If you travel during the holidays and have gifts you want to take on the plane, make sure you bring them unwrapped.
    - There are loads of benefits when it comes to joining a frequent flyer program, like a separate line at check-in.
    - There are plenty of useful apps nowadays, be it a specific airport, airline, or a general travel app.
    - Finally, don’t forget how much your nerves can impact your experience at the airport.

If you're going somewhere with heavy duty tourist sites (London, Rome, Paris) buy your entrance tickets before you even leave home. Same with any ground travel vouchers. Also, if you travel with someone who is the opposite of you (one likes to be early, one gets in under the wire, one likes to relax with a drink, the other likes to wander and people watch etc) meet them in the departure lounge. Find your own ways there and each do your own thing until it's boarding time. Each has their own ticket so that if the earlybird is there and the latecomer isn't, earlybird need only worry about getting him/herself on to the plane and let latecomer deal with his/her own stress.

    1. Take a photocopy of all your documents - tickets, certificates, Travellers Chequers destination information and passport so that if they are lost or stolen, the replacements are easily provided.
2 Take a box of tissues to use as everything as well as toilet paper. Tissues are stronger and softer than regular toilet paper and so are kinder on your rear when you get Bali-belly or equivalent
3 Use as much smaller currencies as possible and part with it sparingly when shopping. Hand over big denominations and you don’t always get your proper change.

use shoes that don't require laces... they are much faster to remove and put back on when going through security and for flight comfort. wear lose fitting clothes, and avoid garments with a lot of metal (example zippers) to avoid the scanner from flagging you. always bring a sweater even in the summer months, often airline lines lower the temperature inside the planes to uncomfortable levels. bring ear plugs, noise canceling headphones, and sleep aids on board the flight. If you use streaming services like Hulu or Netflix, be sure to download enough content for the roundtrip. some airlines have no entertainment to offer, or they are old, or the screens are low quality.

I am a blind person who travels with a guide dog. Self advocacy skills have definitely come in handy for me. Those of us with disabilities, unless they are orthopedic in nature, do not require a wheelchair. When asking for airport help, simply be able to explain to the person that is helping you, every airport has these, what you need, they can simply walk with you to your gate, hope you find your luggage etc. also, have your luggage clearly marked, so it is easy for them to find on the carousel.

    • @hollymcknight8581
      @hollymcknight8581 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You were asking how someone who is blind can type. There are many ways to do this. No one should ever look at a keyboard, it should be memorized. Also, if you are using a computer, be it but Macintosh or Microsoft, there are programs, one called voiceover, and one called job access with speech. These programs read what is on the screen, and what you are typing. Programs such as this can also be found in all Apple devices such as phones iPads etc. Android also has a program called talkback which reads thing is allowed as well. If someone has enough vision they can literally look at their phone and in large text. This program is called zoom. Also, don’t be surprised if you see a blind person using a cane or a dog, and looking at their phone. They may be using the program that I just mentioned. Blindness is a spectrum, and less than 5% of the blind population have no vision whatsoever. I fit into the category of having some residual vision. Thank you for asking. I am always willing to answer questions.

POV: Your flight is at 7am, but your flight is delayed because your flying spirit you arrive the same time as another family (your delay is a day) you ask the family if their plane is delayed (it’s been 6 hours) they say no then by the time you board they still haven’t boarded.

I was going through the same three airports, every two weeks, for 8 months, about 6 months in, I stepped outside with friends, and had to go through security again, they found a spare razor blade I had been carrying for years! And had no idea I had it in my wallet! It was the single edge like used for scrapping, stickers and paint from glass, I can't believe it took that long to find it! If I was a terrorist, I could have done a lot of bad! I don't want to crash a plane, ESPECIALLY if I'm on it!! I don't believe in jumping from a perfectly good aeroplane, much less crashing one, trying to make a point!

I always wear a pure plastic belt. This is plastic webbing and buckle. Explain and show security that it is pure plastic, and will not set off alarms. Or just cover it with a shirt or jumper. One can possibly buy one Plastic webbing and buckles at a local boat yard, if close enough . I even bought a car luggage tie down strap, plastic and adjusted the length to suit my size, and melt the webbing ends with a lighter or small flame briefly . It will save one's trousers falling towards one's ankles.

I take a canvas zipper bag with a clip on it that attaches to a belt loop, before entering the security line I empty my pockets into the bag, remove my shoes and clip the bag to my shoes. at the scanner im ready to go. this has been very efficient on at least a dozen flights and everything stays intact and easy to access at the other end of TSA. also, when possible, get in a line with a female at the other end because if they decide to pat you down it can be a very pleasant trip.

I don't know if you are referring to hand luggage. I lost a copy of my aunt's Will while using unopened side pockets for my check-in luggage. I was intransit through Miami for hours. I still don't understand the disappearance of the Will. I never saw it when I got home. Since then I lock my side pockets.

Take an empty water bottle and put it in your carry-on but remove the cap. So when they check your bottle to see if it’s empty they don’t throw your top away and then your bottle isn’t worth having.
