    It wasn’t the actual flight on the plane that is stressful to me but the whole experience going to the airport (knowing where to go, what I can/can’t have on me, etc.) lol

      yes! Once I’m in the seat I’m good. but figuring out where to go in the airport, security, finding gate, boarding the plane (getting my suitcase in the overhead compartment lol) stresses me out

    What I learned after flying to the airport alone for the first time twice this past week, it's ask if you need help. Follow the signs. Get there early enough so if you're in the totally wrong side of the airport, you still have time to change course.

    1.) find the airline you’re flying with at the Departures and Ticketing area. (2 options: Use a kiosk to check your bags, print your boarding passes, and check in for your flight if you need to OR walk up to the counter to talk to one of the agents. Here print bag tags )
    2. See what terminal and gate you need to go to
    3. Go through security (When you’re in line make sure you have your boarding pass and passport with you)
    -Put your shoes, phone, jacket
    -After scanned, head to the gate
    4. Look at boarding pass to see what your boarding group & assigned seat number are, then listen for the gate agent to call your group boarding number

    • @darthjarjar5309
      @darthjarjar5309 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BroccoliFilesidk if it’s too late or not, but you most definitely have to remove your mask and hats and or glasses too right before entering the TSA scanning section. That’s because the TSA agent needs to check your ID and boarding pass. After that, you can put your mask back up. (last time I flew out of a US airport was in Dec 2022). So mask requirements are unfortunately no longer required, but when handing the TSA agent your ID & boarding pass, he must be able to see your face.

    I am so grateful for this video. I’m 17 and will be flying from China to Germany alone. I’m actually used to flying and did it alone when I was 12. Due to covid I haven’t flown for 3 years now and am super nervous that I have to do it again after not being at an airport for SO LONG
    Edit: I just finished the last part of the video, and wanted to add that when you arrive at the airport, don’t you need to check out? Only afterwards can you go claim your baggage…

    • @BenDreamVacations
      @BenDreamVacations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So happy to hear the video has been helpful to you. As far as what happens when you arrive at the airport. If you are entering a new country then you will have to go through that country's immigration and customs process and then some countries also have an additional security check. Beyond that there is no other check-out.

    In some airports you do have to go through security again even while connecting, it's been the case for me at Heathrow for international connections for example

    • @mieroth
      @mieroth ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that can happen. Which is why if you're unsure about the layout of an airport you should make your way over the gate just to be sure you won't miss the plane. Sometimes people will delay going to the gate be able to stay in the most "fun" part of the airport a bit longer - that requires you to have a good sense of the time it takes to get through security (if it's there) to make sure you have plenty of available time. For unfamiliar travellers simply finding and waiting at the gate seems like the most stress-free option, even if it may be a bit boring.

    Thank you for posting this video. I'm in my early 60's and have only travelled with my bf, never alone! He was the one who got us through the airport and flying process. But he recently moved to Spain and I am staying in Vancouver Canada until I can join him.
    Meanwhile, I'm already getting nervous about flying alone to visit him!! (even though I'm not sure when that will be but there will be a several back and forth flights) and navigating my way through multiple airports. as he JUST left. If it was a single flight I would be okay. But to get 'there' I will have to be on a minimum of 3 planes and that makes me nervous. Hopefully, I can give myself enough layover time so I can find my way from one gate to the next. Fear of missing my connecting flights is an issue for me. As is finding my way to where those gates actually are....as I understand that some connecting flights require you to leave the terminal and go to a different one...or to a different airport!
    But before I even deal with those issues...I have a question regarding boarding passes. Are you able to do a mock booking or somehow go through an example of how to save your boarding pass on your phone? I'm not very computer savvy and I'm wondering if I should just go to the check in counter (even though I plan on taking a Carry On only) and get a paper boarding pass vs fumbling my way around on my iphone to find my boarding pass.
    Also, would I have a separate boarding pass for each connecting flight? Probably silly questions to experienced flyers... but what can I say?!
    Thank you for posting this video!! I hope you have a wonderful day and plenty of safe travel experiences!

      Hi! Since you are traveling internationally your passport and any required visas will need to be verified by the airline before you can get a boarding pass. Depending on the airline this can be completed all on the airline's website or you can just check-in in person at the airport. If you don't feel very confidant about using a computer to fill out the required information then it might be best just to check-in at the airport. But if you want to give it a try it will definitely save you some time at the airport since you won't be checking a bag and you will be able to head straight to the security lines.
      If you want to try and do everything online here is the general process. 1. After you book your flight pull up your reservation on the airline's website and look for a link that says "Passenger Details" or something similar and there you will be asked to enter your passport information and any other required information. 2. Once that is complete, if you want to get a digital boarding pass you will need to download the airline's app. 3. Once you have it downloaded, when it is time to check in for your flight (usually 24 -48 hours before departure) click or tap the check-in button on the app and you will then receive your digital boarding pass.
      There are also plenty of videos on my channel that I think will help you as well if you are interested. Let me know if I can help answer any other questions you have. Safe Travels!

    Thank you Ben!! I haven't flown in almost 11 years and I fly out to Detroit (Oct 28th) on Southwest from Sacramento. Now, I know what to prepare for, instead of being overly anxious. Your video on the 3-1-1 liquids was very helpful. :)
