I enjoy the “daily life” part of your vlogs the best. The cooking, clearing snow, chopping wood, maintaining the homestead, the chickens (and your pups of course!!), the garden and the bees. The fishing and hunting are always a nice bonus though. Come to think of it, I guess I just love your channel!
Watching this, I think how nice it is after a day working in the snow, to go inside, have a hot, savory meal and that sleepy feeling you get when you warm all the way up.

We live in Switzerland and i really never liked the cold or the snow that much (unless skiing you know). Especially since we have kids, i always felt like winter weather just ruined our outdoor plans (we are very outdoorsy). Ever since i watch your channel i started loving and appreciating winter and any weather really. You guys never seem to let the weather getting in the way of your fun..now, when its raining, i say no problem, put on your rain pants and jump in the puddles...snowing and freezing? snow suits on, winter walkies with our dogs, snow angels, collecting fallen pine cones...as long as youre dressed appropriately, its always fun.🥰
Dressing appropriately is always important, but our lives get so busy, a lot of us just don't stop actively think about what we may need. Best advice I ever got was to dress in layers, so that you can layer up or down for whatever you need. Alas, that advice never says what to do about the layers you don't need at that moment! I think a light backpack, ideally one with an expansion zipper, being carried everywhere as a constant accessory is a good idea. They have those "stuff themselves into their own pocket-sized pouch" bags, but they're always one strap deals, so it's hard to wear as a backpack...but it's hard to resist something that looks like a strawberry when it's all stuffed away!
@@lukewoodford7874 Here in the north USA and ever since the big C hit hubby and I have walked lake trails and beaches , etc , every wkend to get out and not live locked up , whether it is hot, cold we dress for the weather and it has given me a new appreciation for nature in all kinds of weather. I have really grown very fond of winter hiking and invested in great winter clothing and when dressed properly winter is very enjoyable.

I was thinking the same exact thing! Rooster 🐓 and back in the 4-H days. She would have definitely won a blue ribbon and state fair trip in both Poultry and Photography. Probably in egg production, too, and in pie baking.

I'm in Northern Indiana and we had about 12-14 inches of snow that melted away the past few days. This morning we got freezing rain that quickly turned to snow and is currently dumping lots of heavy snow. Treacherous roads here today...super slippery. I have to comment on some comments: a lot of people say they don't like the cold, or the snow, but I LOVE the change of seasons. I find myself always waiting for the next season and I truly enjoy each and every one of them. Each is special in its own way. I wouldn't be able to wake up each morning to the same weather, let's say always hot and sunny. Would be boring for me. You guys seem to enjoy the snow and the cold. You work extremely hard in the summer and you have the slow time (not to say lazy time ;) in the winter. That's so cool!

Hello fellow Missourian! Just moved to Montana, but my husband was born and raised in MO and I lived for there for over 10 years! 4 inches of snow is pretty good for that area! You mostly get ice! Haha!

I'm your neighbor in St Paul, and have had to do soooo much snow removal this winter. Much of which was water removal, because we keep getting these freak thawing days, followed by an artic blast, which means dangerous ice on the walkways and driveway. Gotta keep an eye on that thermometer! Winter is not over yet in Minnesota.

I’ve always only used spaghetti squash for spaghetti dishes instead of pasta. Something like this never occurred to me. I really enjoy what happens in my brain with videos like this… “She did WHAT with spaghetti squash!?!?😯 I didn’t even know that was possible! She’s AMAZING!!! HOW DOES THIS WOMAN NOT HAVE A SUPERHERO CAPE!?” And your all “… la-ti-da…. Just another day for us simple folk. If ya think of something.. just try it. If it doesn’t work… fix it and take value in the lesson and keep trying. When you perfect it… REALLY enjoy it!” And then in like “….YA!!” Like a bada$$ who feels like she can take on anything! Thank you for just being you and sharing yourselves with all of us. I appreciate you both.
You guys are such great cooks. I’m glad to see you’ve found a way to make spaghetti squash palatable. I’ve never been much of a fan either. Arielle makes amazing pie crusts & her technique is perfect. Have you ever added @1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the crust? It makes it a little more flaky, I’ve found. A tblsp of vodka also works. Also, a fun project I’ve started is making my own vanilla extract. Just buy a bunch of vanilla beans online-they’re surprisingly affordable, especially if you get grade B beans, which aren’t pretty, but work for this. Put them in a tall jar-taller than the beans-and add vodka to cover. Keep in a dark place if possible. It takes a few months, but the result is amazing. And you can fish out a vanilla bean from time to time & scrape the seeds out to use in baking. I started with @15 beans. I could really taste the difference. I’m such a huge fan of your channel. You guys are everything I’ve dreamed of being. Keep up the good work.

The few live Q&As I’ve watched (not on this channel) were so distracting, the host was distracted by reading the list of people joining the live feed and their questions and it took so long to answer each question. I think we all get more from it if they can assemble a list of questions beforehand and then address them in a prerecorded video. Just my personal opinion.
@@greeneyedgirlina Good point -- being 'live' doesn't seem to add any value to a Q&A. It just makes it more inconvenient to participate with a question. It seems more practical to have people send in questions for a month or two and answer them all at once.

I was thinking the same exact thing! Rooster 🐓 and back in the 4-H days. She would have definitely won a blue ribbon and state fair trip in both Poultry and Photography. Probably in egg production, too, and in pie baking.

I'm in Northern Indiana and we had about 12-14 inches of snow that melted away the past few days. This morning we got freezing rain that quickly turned to snow and is currently dumping lots of heavy snow. Treacherous roads here today...super slippery.

I have to comment on some comments: a lot of people say they don't like the cold, or the snow, but I LOVE the change of seasons. I find myself always waiting for the next season and I truly enjoy each and every one of them. Each is special in its own way.
I wouldn't be able to wake up each morning to the same weather, let's say always hot and sunny. Would be boring for me.
You guys seem to enjoy the snow and the cold. You work extremely hard in the summer and you have the slow time (not to say lazy time ;) in the winter. That's so cool!

I'm your neighbor in St Paul, and have had to do soooo much snow removal this winter. Much of which was water removal, because we keep getting these freak thawing days, followed by an artic blast, which means dangerous ice on the walkways and driveway. Gotta keep an eye on that thermometer! Winter is not over yet in Minnesota.

I’ve always only used spaghetti squash for spaghetti dishes instead of pasta. Something like this never occurred to me. I really enjoy what happens in my brain with videos like this… “She did WHAT with spaghetti squash!?!?😯 I didn’t even know that was possible! She’s AMAZING!!! HOW DOES THIS WOMAN NOT HAVE A SUPERHERO CAPE!?” And your all “… la-ti-da…. Just another day for us simple folk. If ya think of something.. just try it. If it doesn’t work… fix it and take value in the lesson and keep trying. When you perfect it… REALLY enjoy it!” And then in like “….YA!!” Like a bada$$ who feels like she can take on anything!

You guys are such great cooks. I’m glad to see you’ve found a way to make spaghetti squash palatable. I’ve never been much of a fan either.
Arielle makes amazing pie crusts & her technique is perfect. Have you ever added @1 tablespoon of white vinegar to the crust? It makes it a little more flaky, I’ve found. A tblsp of vodka also works.
Also, a fun project I’ve started is making my own vanilla extract. Just buy a bunch of vanilla beans online-they’re surprisingly affordable, especially if you get grade B beans, which aren’t pretty, but work for this. Put them in a tall jar-taller than the beans-and add vodka to cover. Keep in a dark place if possible. It takes a few months, but the result is amazing. And you can fish out a vanilla bean from time to time & scrape the seeds out to use in baking. I started with @15 beans. I could really taste the difference.

The few live Q&As I’ve watched (not on this channel) were so distracting, the host was distracted by reading the list of people joining the live feed and their questions and it took so long to answer each question. I think we all get more from it if they can assemble a list of questions beforehand and then address them in a prerecorded video. Just my personal opinion.
@@greeneyedgirlina Good point -- being 'live' doesn't seem to add any value to a Q&A. It just makes it more inconvenient to participate with a question. It seems more practical to have people send in questions for a month or two and answer them all at once.
