Nice video as always. Here's some of my thoughts: Materials may not fall cleanly into their technology requirements. Necrotic bones require the nether and slimewood is supposed to teach you the composite crafting method. When in doubt about a material's teir, check the mining level. Overslime is such a fun mechanic. Every type of slime has a different method of creation and a different effect on the extra durability. That means you have to take into account the extra layer of "do I want slime on this?" even when the tool has no apparent slime parts.50 durability may be worth the temporary -15% stat loss. If you haven't made 8 blocks of rose gold by accident, you haven't played the mod enough. Canonically, blood is a type of slime. So is milk. Just don't eat too much of yourself. The star-cutting metal is pronounced man-you-lyn. Modifiers are the heart of Tinkers' Construct. That's why all these tools have traits, because traits are modifiers like everything else!
@Wotzinator Tinkers 1 was my learning project. Tinkers 2 is what happens if you take the same idea and say "ever material is useable at every point in the game". Tinkers 3 is what I wanted to make, but 1.8 broke me. There's a ton of thought put into the mod this time around. KnightMiner is as good of a designer as he is a programmer. The level of polish is just... 🤯
Tinker's is certainly getting interesting, but I will admit I do miss the days of the stupidly OP weapons and tools you could end up with. It was also nice having any trait stay on the tool when you leveled the tool even if you changed the parts after then, kinda like "learning" the traits.
Just wanted to say thanks and VERY well done !! I’ve recently come back to modded Java and have always loved TC. It’s come a long way and this series was 100% tutorial. And a huge KUDOS to you. You clearly researched, prepared and executed the series with knowledge!
The one thing that I always hated about Tinkers is the obscurity. Why not state that Sturdy means +10% durability or whatever it is. I know I can look it up on the wiki, but why? Why not just have it right where I build my tools?
Ok, but a full Rose Hold Pickaxe (or any other tool for that matter) can go up to 9 upgrades. You need 7 upgrades and one ability for Unbreakable. Plus the fact that Rose Gold has a very good mining speed, it makes for probably the best tools overall.
@@legendarybanana37 Maybe, or a Chain Binding. I'm mostly considering the Unbreakable Tool Build with this, and a Full Rose Gold ( with or without the chain binding) leaves you with 2 upgrades and one ability. Sacrificing one slot for the Dwarven trait isn't always the best option.
@@howdoiturnssj3 it’s not dwarven. It’s better. With umbreakable build its permanent +15% mining speed which is equivalent to three red stone haste upgrades.
11:03 slime type part NOT just slimewood (for if the penalty applies), 2 other examples of slime type parts are slimesteel and queenslime. (i wouldn't be surprised if the slime vine types also count as a slime type part)
I kinda wish TiCon 3 would let us enchant these bad boys; it's clear that the devs want a more balanced option, but when fully enchanted Netherite is stronger in every conceivable way than endgame Tinker's tools, it becomes a bit ridiculous not letting us have enchants.
I have a problem, and it is that it does not let me make materials that are fusions of others, like iron pig ingots, I am in version 1.16.5, can someone help me?
I want to play a 1.16.5 expert modpack that includes tinkers but I don't see any, anyone has recommendations? My favorite in 1.12 was Enigmatica 2 Expert.
If "Reinforced" is still a modifier, then a Rose Gold handle + Binding to get 5 modifier slots, when used in conjunction with 5 reinforcements = a tool that can never break. Combine that with Tinker's Bronze and you'll always have the max benefit of its passive. If sharpening kits are still a thing, enhance that with Cobalt and it might be a contender for BiS; depending on how fast it mines
5 reinforcements( still a modifier ,but with a different scale and recipe) is not unbreakable by itself in 1.16 it is part of the pre-req for unbreakable though.
"Oh no, my complicated group of mods that all worked together has turned into one mod with a straightforward mechanic for making something!" It's just as complex as it ever was without the mechanical bits, you still have choices to make. Maybe you miss the mod addons which added tool levelling and extra materials from other mods.

is paper coming to 1.16?
It's there already as a modifier bonus now. You can add some extra slots with a book and quill, mob skull, discs, and more.
@@distendedmist5840 tbh, I think most of the modmakers are focused on updating to 1.17 or even 1.18 rn.

Iguana Tweaks changed Tinkers' a lot back then
@@MischiefofMice leave it to some cold blooded bastard to do something like that. Those things are deceptively aggressive after all.
xD
I mean Tinker's is stronger than ever. Addons made TiCon 2 OP.
@@howdoiturnssj3 now you have many ways to get more modifier. Normally most mod packs have to add tool leveling for that
Some of the highest quality mod explanation I've seen, thanks!
You're welcome
This is the absolute best tutorial I could find, even being so outdated. Thanks!

Love this mod! My friend just started a smp who’s modpack includes this, and it’s so cool how many materials there are!
The one thing that I always hated about Tinkers is the obscurity. Why not state that Sturdy means +10% durability or whatever it is. I know I can look it up on the wiki, but why? Why not just have it right where I build my tools?
Oh wow, looks like they have added this by now. I guess I will have to retract my statement.
I just updated the mod and here is already a explanation of it. That was fast
Idk who you are or how long you have been making videos but I love your name so I subbed

Best to use a copper tool binding

@@legendarybanana37 Yeah, makes more sense. The maintained trait would be very strong with an Unbreakable trait.
26:16 What kind of modifications are these, the cobblestone falls out, you can see the name and label
Does thinkers still have material compatibility with other mods? Are older materials that are currently missing going to return?
I'm playing a pack that adds new materials already.

sorry but i can t by any mean put slime crystal into the slimy item (queen slime binding - all the modium pick head and cobalt handle)
It's not good to have the tool made out of all of one material it's best to make sure the tool rod is different

Can you enchant tinkers tools?
This mod does not work with Optifine for some reason on 16.5.
when has optifine not broken stuff ? , it does horribly invasive things to textures

No sharpening kits and reinforcement and getting a tool unbreakable is different now

I forgot they re added armor
They updated the construct armory mod?
