Hi, I agree it's sad to see the line that once connected the biggest city in New Zealand to its most visited tourist area abandoned. Riding the rail carts is fun, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

Awesome. Looks like fun trip. I want to thank you for the link in comments below, wasn't sure where was or this was. Thanks for sharing this awesome trip with us. Safe travels ahead. God bless
Hi, Rotorua is an awesome place. I've just looked to see if there is a link to a site showing the best of Rotorua and to be honest none of the sites do justice to the place, too many adverts, not enough information, I've got a stack of video footage shot at the various thermal parks and other attractions, when I get time I'll put something together. In the meantime The guy behind Rotorua Rail-cruising took me on a special extra trip, please click on this link to see it -th-cam.com/video/qV8mWTp6K4k/w-d-xo.html
Hi Chuck, I am glad you enjoyed these rail carts. They are very safe with electronics to prevent them from bumping into each other or the ends of the line so that even children under adult supervision can drive them.
Hi, Tim! So, autopilot is rule now for all. :))))) Hmm... A bit for boring... Sadly that this civilisation now has really 'progress' for digital /aka 'kibernetic'/ application only, but don't energetic and other 'green worlds' technology -- there are it's lagging behind in dog's tail!.. :(
I love Rotorua, its an amazing place, Volcanic Parks, Fantastic Zoos and then take a ride on a RailCruiser, a great way to spend a few days. I hope you get there Rob.
Hi Steve, it was fun. Imagine a similar venture between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Trawsfynydd in North Wales. The tourists are already there, the track was still in place on my last visit, there are no road crossings and the scenery is stunning.
+GVM4763 GVM4763 Hi, the part of the line normally used by rail cruisers has no road crossings, so it is not an issue. In the second video we take the cruiser along a section of the line into Rotorua that was not in use for public services when I visited. We just had to look both ways and cross carefully, for more information take a look at their website ... www.railcruising.com/
Great video! Looks like fun!
This is one even kids can drive because the carts have inbuilt electronics to prevent them from bumping into one another.
Great Video Tim, sad to see the the line diminished to a tourist attraction, thanks for sharing

How does it handle crossing with other traffic? How does it know when it's clear to cross?

No High Tech as in New Zealand.
Was that The Stig I saw at the begining of the clip?
I wonder if Jeremy Clarkson knows the Stig has been moon lighting?
The "sound track" has gotta go! Maybe a bit long Could have used a bit of chopping for time. Just sayin'
Cheers, feedback is always welcome.
