Hi, Jim Great comparison shave, I thought for a minute hold on Temby in January wtf cold snowing and he said it's hot outside then I took a look a year ago 🤣🤣🤣🤣 then I looked it must be a crap room the paper is peeling off the wall then looked again a bloody towel never mind I just keep on taking the tablets and you can't best the boots shaving stick very good slickness take care and have a great week 😀👍
dam nice shave fella and only one small weeper . i have seen you have more on plate 4 so you have got to be happy with that mate . now i really like those blades find them middle of the road but smooth 👍👍
The way you’re holding the 41, it’s like you’re afraid it will cut you. That doesn’t strike me as an enjoyable shave. I could definitely see myself getting weepers with that kind of razor.
🤣 hello George. You do have to be very wary with the R41. If you're not careful, it will bite you! I'm not afraid of it, I just know how to handle it. But, after only a few shaves, anyone can master it
@@JimWillShave but the GS, much better quality and performance than the standard R41, I find with the standard R41 there’s a lot of blade chatter, with the GS that isn’t the case, I tried the boots freshwood aftershave balm recently, much better than any of the high end aftershave balms in my opinion 👍
Boots certainly don't sell any rubbish Rob. The only concern I have with the GS is the length of the handle. But I suppose I could get used to that. I love SS razors.

Hi Jim, wow, from the decor it looks like you really have travelled back to the 50s for your wet shave. I had to have a double take because I thought the wall paper was peeling behind you. Anyway, Boots cream, I wasn't impressed when I started using it in the early days, I don't think it was that bad on reflection. We all came to this way of shaving either for a better shave or to save money, and these cheap soaps work just as good as the expensive ones I think. I enjoy your comparison shaves, "carry-on shaving" Jim. All the Best

Hi Jim. Nice video. I am considering buying the Rockwell 6S as a first time wet shaver, after using electric foil shavers all my adult life till date. I shave my head and face and jaws, and need your full advice. I want to get fully into wet shaving for a closer and more fulfilling shave experience, and have watched so many reviews on the Rockwell 6s blade. Please advise.
Hello Gomez. The 6S is the perfect razor for you. I always advise new shavers to opt for either the 6S or 6C. You can shave with confidence. Happy shaves Gomez
@JimWillShave I meant between the 41 and 6S, which side had better results? When I shave with my Rocca I feel a big difference the next morning as opposed to the R41.
I've been de shaving for about 2 years now and the r41 was my razor of choice. Probably not the best idea for a beginner and i got astra green blade. Cut myself to hell all the time and i head and face shave with it against the grain. A month ago i decided to try a new brand of blade voskod and not one nick and i shave every other day. Highly recommend voskod in the r41
@@Rayraysplums that was a bold choice for a first razor for sure! And hmmmm Voskhod’s are one of my favourites… I’ll try your idea and throw one in the R-41 and see what happens!!
@@JMac. you won't be disappointed honestly made a huge difference. Was looking for a second razor a more high end stainless steel one but just changing the blade to a voskod in the r41 has made me change my mind.
Shaving is a your mileage may vary - great video but I would rather shave my face with battery acid and big shards of broken glass than use the R41 - I get spectacular shaves from milder razors and I’m very experienced. My skin just can’t handle positive blade exposure with even the lightest pressure.
Hello David. I sometimes have days were an aggressive razor is a definite no no for me. Due to skin issues. So it's nice to switch to my mild razors then.
Nice sweat box shave!! Both razors are awesome. The R41 demands concentration or it'll bite!! I just got 3 Arko shave creams from Turkey via AliExpress. $7 for all 3 variants...Crazy cheap!! Ordered the the After Shave colognes as well. Got the Blue Cool one for $5. And I swear it smells just like the GoodFellas' Smile Solo soap... Have a great week And Stay Safe 🤙
You should get yourself over here in the UK. It would be funny to see Sig Solo with a sun tan 😂. That's true, I bleed less with aggressive razors because I concentrate so much. Are you able to buy the Boots sticks over there in Greenland? The Arko splashes are great value. The only downside is that the scents soon wear off. The Gold is a dupe of Brut.
@@JimWillShave Thank you. But sun tan and heat like that is not for me!! ;O) Boots products are not available here. But that's the case with almost every product in the world. I also ordered the Gold splash, and the Black... They are almost giving that stuff away. Have a great week And Stay Safe 🤙
Hi from Portugal. Tks for the videos I really enjoy them. I have 2 requests since you mentioned you have sensitive skin like me (a) blades - how do chose blades ? Do you have any tips to how to compare the several blades and rank them by aggression and effectiveness? Do you prefer some type of blades for the open or close comb ? I know it’s subjective still I am trying myself to compare 20 different blades I have and it’s difficult to feel differences between them and my goal is to limit to 2 favourite blades. (B) can you do a video of how you clean and preserve your brush, razor, blade, soap after the shave ? Do you do any regular maintnance on them so they last longer ?
Thank you Eduard. Excellent questions. Blade selection Is a tricky one. One blade may be good in one razor but terrible in another. It's best to start off by using popular blades. Use the same blade and razor for a week. Record the longevity of the blade, closeness of the shaves, any post shave irritation, any weepers. Then the following week try a different blade and do the same. It can take a long time to find the perfect combination. Generally, the more mild a razor the sharper the blade needs to be.
Great shave Jim!! As you know I have many razors but I don't own an R41. I don't think there's a lot of point for me. If I want a shave with mega blade feel that has to be respected and a little cautious with it, I use my Blackbird. I find the 6s smooth on every plate. I say levels of efficiency with the 6s rather than aggression as I don't find it in any way aggressive. It's a great razor. I used to use Boots soap in the dish (the same soap just in a dish) and I found it kept drying on my face.....a bit like bar soap would. How do you rate the R41 compared to the Blackbird etc? The Rockwell is so much more versatile than the R41. A beginner could buy one and work his/her way up the plates as he/she gets more experienced. Eleviating the need to buy a more aggressive razor as you progress. Take care mate and try and stay cool!!😎😎. Dave.
Hello Dave. The Boots soap takes a lot of water mate. Even the cream does too. Once it's wetted enough it's super slick. The R41 feels like I'm shaving with a straight. But one small mistake and it's a cut. The Blackbird feels much safer to use. But the R41 is fun to use, not as much fun as the Razorine though 😀. How's the wife Dave? Hope all is well.
@@JimWillShave I will try my Boots soap again then Jim! Joy is well thanks and sends her best wishes. Take care mate and drive safe........I really mean watch out for all the idiots on the road!! Dave.
