I really like how you show, How things should be hooked up... Keep up with the tips and tricks on how to get more swing in my thing, I'll be looking for some more information so that I can get out there in skip world. ... Thanks, Pork and Beans, 660 state of Maryland. ..10,6 reading the Mail. ....
Anything past 12 watts peak will make any cobra 29 harmonically unsound. This is why we use oscilloscopes to tune radios so they aren’t splatter boxes. 73
Its jp 36 and the cap is 470 uf 25v u can use anything around 220-500uf uf the oit tour using is 1000 k u can go up in the cap to about 1000 uf on the eltrolytic mske sure y use a diode between the tip and b+ source so u dont back feed voltage not using a direction diode in this spot is a hudge mistakes just a simpky glass diode will cover u. . Thevwst build for this is the tip 120 and d-19 diode and 330 uf cap at50v with 100 ohm 2 watt dropper nake sure u use the diode to protect
I loved tinkering with the old stuff , as a tom boy I once took apart an old hi-fi tube stereo, my father was not a manly man fixer. I would love to have a ham radio again. I cant find anyone to fix my cd player that held 100 CD. Haha I'm older and have my hands full with canning.
The cap keeps.the variable stable .the trick is to use close capasatance at the variable and cap ...so if u use 1000 variable you off u on use 1000 cap ..u use 50o variable use a 470 mf cap makes hudge did on stability
Good video brother. Lucky me i picked up a fleabay cobra 21ltd , thats been hacked to pieces. Suppose to be a variable with tip no 100 ohm resistor and no 4700 cap.. Lookin forward to more vids. Take care.
470 mf not ohm ...but yes ..u can use anything from 470 mf - 1000 mf ...but always use at least 25v cap ...and use a 1/4 100 ohm resistor ...to set low deadkey level ....
Most informative video on tnis to date! I really appreciate your time to do this. It takes someone that care to do this. Thank you brother.
This is great!! Hopefully there will be more of these types, love 'em!
Merry Christmas and God Bless you. 12/25/2023 Excellent video!

Awesome video
Great video, is there a substitute for TIP 29 ?
Awesome Video, THANKYOU.
Cool man - thanks

Question sir can I do this with out the transistor 73

Lol thanks for watching T Paw✌✌

What the difference between tip 29 and tip 120 videos show it done both ways for dead key
Ima tip 29, guy myself lol, thanks for watching ✌️ 😁
Make sure u use the diode to protect from vtage spike ....been doing the cobras for yrs
How come when I do this mod my meter on the radio swings backwards. I am using a TIP120
I want to do that to my cobra 200 night watch gtl a nice dead key variable to run my 2x4 with half a watt
Good video thanks

How bald are you 😂😂😂😢😮🎉
Sir please do a surface mount Board next ;) Uniden pc68ltx specifically. I’d also like to try a 520xl, so I can pair it with my little 203p ;)
Lol cudos
can not find PIP 29
TIP 29
Normally if it's been shorted it will get the diode at d 17 and but the cap will always fail usually if it's shorted
It's better to use Teflon wire
Hillbilly job
