LinkedIn 👀😂 Calling himself a recovering investment banker is a stretch but kudos to him for finessing that into a career lol. Don’t hate the player hate the game!! 😂
He probably signed an NDA, so after doing this video he cannot disclose the place he worked that linked it to all the info he gave here. Especially the SWAG part that is pretty wild.
@@karinat9928 Im interning at a top elite boutique this summer and they are not going to make you sign any kind of NDA lmao. It’s all on his LinkedIn which tells the truth about his “career in IB.” Nothing wrong with the guy he seems pretty chill but I don’t know what position of knowledge he is giving info from considering he never even did a full-time stint as an investment banker.
Working at Credit Suisse is essentially a black mark on your resume and you are laughed at by actual bankers. This guy is more of a Seth than anything.
Looooooooong hours, LOW pay, An injured back, bad knees and callused hands. Workin the 9-5 ain't all its cracked up to be. (Work is work - cept these guys take 400k bonuses while we slave away for min wage. Just saying.)
Current Investment Banker - the day in the life description around min 20 is so eerily accurate (literally had a day just like that on Tuesday except getting the books printed had to be done before 5 because that's when the production people leave). The worst is when you stay up so late that the bankers in London are awake and start messaging you...
i'm really curious how you mess that revenue number up? reading financial statements is something you learn in community college courses. if you're a finance/accounting/etc major...how??? how do you get hired?
this should be very scary looking at AI "unless you're a quant and you're actually using calculus in your job, you know everything you need to know from middle school math" - a harvard career advisor that got paid 7 figures a year scaaaaryyyy
this comment from him proves that most money in today's economy is created from obfuscation and networking tricks, not making the world a better place what happens when companies don't need to IPO and can SPAC or just make a crypto token who pays for the aps and expensive vests then
Analyst here. AI has a long way to go still in the projection space. It will take a quant job before it takes a manager or an analyst role. AI does math way better than analysis.
You mostly only use basic math and sometimes a little bit of advanved statistics, but it is important to understand advanced math since it makes you understand things better, it is not for the usefulness that is valuable in finance, its for the way of thinking it gives you that is important
09:55 there are twelve different ways of saying this, but don't ever use the thirteenth word: assumption. As soon as you say the ass-u-n-me word, everybody knows the jig is up.

As someone who is a retail investor who does plenty of research and is into investing even after 3 months I know enough to realise that financial analyst forecasts are often full of 🐕💩 and they move their price targets up and down in response to price changes rather than in anticipation of them. Their opinions shouldnt be trusted much more than some of the more high quality opinions you can find online sometimes less as they are often too comservative and very slow to react to trends.
As someone who's been hiring masters degrees and PHDs like crazy in the machine learning space, getting along with the candidate really is 90% of it. Anyone can calculate, but can you do it and be cool about it. Sorry.
Hey, I am in supply chain and want to convert to investment banking, what schools, courses will you advise me to take ?? Also, which bank do you recommend me to apply to ?? and what are the requirements to make sure I make it ??
I used to work in Advertising. And the bad days were very much the same. Especially the description of being at the office late -- lights dim; I know the cleaning lady by name! Etc.
Well it depends. If you're new and others are still in the office, you dare not leave. However, usually if your the last one there or nobody in your group is still around then you can bounce. It's just the culture at some banks.
I have never had a day like that but if I really had no work after dinner, I suppose I could go work from home but my associates would be confused why I was leaving so early
If you focus on 31 unwritten rules then your probably not focusing on what your company pay you to do ...at the end of the day your manager will judge you on your performance and how much k net you make for the bank....if you're A star performer you can go to work in just your undies and a bear hat....
Buddy worked a summer at Credit Suisse then did consulting for 2 years. Bro was NOT an investment banker 😭😭

The coffee chats, excellent point, they're more valuable than interviews in many cases!
Loooooong hours, HIGH pressure, tons of politics and posing. Gettin' rich ain't all it's cracked up to be.

bro worked just 3 months in investment banking…..
Hahaha you're right, just had a look at his LinkedIn, with 39 listed work experience. Sounds like someone has commitment issues

At 9:37, I like that description of Accounting & Finance. 👊
👏👏 let's give some credit to the editor. Engaging sound effects, music, and pace.
watching this video feels like watching the scene in the big short where he's like "i don't get it, why is he confessing"
"he's bragging"
i'm really curious how you mess that revenue number up? reading financial statements is something you learn in community college courses. if you're a finance/accounting/etc major...how??? how do you get hired?
they hired him so they could figure out what he was always grinning about
It's just sounds like he's a corporate stooge of any big company.

Reminds me of some advice I was given- instead of stuttering, or going like, or uh, or erm, just pause.

So how do you know if someone is a buy side or sell side, buy side will be cursing on the call, sell side curses after the call.

Investments are the roots of financial security; the deeper they grow, the stronger your future will be."
The deeper your investment roots, the stronger your financial security will be in the future.
Exactly! With my adviser, I’ve cultivated deep investment roots, strengthening my financial security for the future.
I would love an introduction to an adviser who can help me strengthen my financial roots.
My CFA NICOLE ANASTASIA PLUMLEE a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further.

sounds like this guy makes a few too many errors in his spreadsheets
How many have you pulled of?
In simple terms what you mean is "executive presence" hahahaha
Cool 😊
2:20 - Doesnt that just mean 1+ half whatever rate of excess speed of talking he was conducting so hpw would that be 0.5x of normal speech time

the drugs are very accurate, along with the debauchery and depravity. so yah, the movies may exaggerate reality, but it's based on it regardless
