    Without doubt, the best video by a mile on this tech. I shall be fitting the system to my boat.

    Those screw holes that were pre drilled on the transom should have been beveled, keeps stress cracks from starting on hard edges. Not trying to tell the man how,just a little installation note.

    I've had them for two years on my 26 Stuart. Best upgrade I made to the boat. Set and forget. Wife loves using it. My boat does not have much bow rise .. but it is very much a round bottom boat and any major shift in weight from one side to the other will cause the boat to pitch over. Zip wake reacts very quickly to those situations and keeps the boat level. Which is the most important thing that I wanted addressed. I had them istalled locally in Miami and come out of Matheson. Good video!

    Very nicely done video. Very thorough and informative. I am biased to Bennett Marine tabs. Had them on my last 3 or 4 boats over the years and almost zero problems. The only problem I had was one leaking cylinder and they took care of that at no charge way after the warranty was out. Great customer support, and the factory is right here in Pompano Beach. So I guess a price comparison and customer support comparison would be wise before making a decision. I was quite surprised with the fuel mileage. I would have thought with the tab going straight down like that that it would kill the mileage. That's about it. Thanks for the quality video. Cheers!

      I've been in boats a long time as well, I thought the same thing based on the way the water was forced, more like a brake instead of a trim devise works. I'm still seeing the efficiency of these though not working as hard as tabs do. Your thoughts???

    A big difference I noticed right away is there is no drilling holes with the Seakeeper Ride system. They grind the gel coat off then epoxy the Seakeeper system directly to the fiberglass. In my opinion the exposed bolts will have a corrosion problem in salt water over time. The algae growth is concerning also.

    • @Andrico77

      In the market for either these or the Seakeeper version. Exposed screws are no different than Bennett time tabs which have been around forever. Have you priced out the Ride system... it's for 7g'!!

    Have them on my Vtech flats boat. They do a tremendous job keeping the bow down and getting up on plane much faster. My only complaint is that if I take a long, gradual turn they take a while to flatten out again once I straighten out since the system just thinks the boat is listing to one side. I didn’t know I could adjust the speed at which it corrects so I’ll try that! Maybe I should read the manual 😂

    Just more stuff to go wrong on your boat. If you are worried about pitch, roll, truns, following sea and stability, just get a Stabicraft. Awesome boats, and there's no need for all of this stuff.

    I think this device would be a perfect addition to flat bottom boats like the Carolina Skiffs. They tend to skip the stern across the water like a flat rock when making sharp turns at higher speeds. I’d be willing to bet this device would eliminate that skipping completely. I don’t believe all boats need this device just like the boat featured in this video but flatter bottom boats would greatly benefit from those tabs.

    What will they think of next? I can see how beneficial these would be on any boat when set on auto. I would say the larger and longer the boat the more beneficial these Zipwakes would be for the average boat angler. I would be interested in knowing the cost of these as to the normal trim tabs on most boats. That 29 Orion is a sick looking rig with the 300's!

    I'm trying to figure these Zipwakes out.. Are these better than traditional trim tabs? To me they create more drag vs the trim tabs. I have Bennet on my formular and they have been great! I'm curious what the advantage of ZipWakes, if there is any.. Wit the trim tabs the water glides nicely but with these I'm a bit confused - would love to compare fuel consumption / drag / speed loss for both..

    • @s.dawson2490
      @s.dawson2490 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea they completely skipped over that and it's by far the most labor intensive part of the installation. You need a flat surface to mount zipwakes to and the transom on this boat wasn't flat enough. So what you do is grind off the gelcoat and build up an epoxy platform that you then fair to create the flat mounting surface.

    NOT a FAN
    In the kind of conditions we go out in, I find it quite dangerous in the rough! Its fine for headseas, can be dangerous in heavy beam seas, and its a disaster in quartering/following seas. I have the engine dialed in spot on for planning, so I feel the auto function makes me dig in rather than helping me to get on plane!. Most of the impressive reviews, with zipwakes correcting the pitch didn't apply to me. I use it manually sometimes in headseas, keep the auto off, as I feel like it overreacts with sudden shift in weight while underway. There is only auto both trim and roll, and auto trim only.. I love to keep control of the nose in heavy following seas, and I could use the auto roll only mode as I'm going underway in not super bad conditions. So really I hate it for the price I paid for it and the lack I use I get out of it.. Happy for other owners to let me of their experience with quartering seas, beam seas, and following seas in general.

    Do zip wakes have specific setting for cats? I know people complain because of the way certain cats turn compared to monohulls.

    • @imtramarineproducts
      @imtramarineproducts ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no specific setting for Cats. We have had great success with Cat configurations to date due to our large range of interceptors and ability to mount them close to propellers. Freeman is using Zipwake standard on all most all models currently.

    I was thinking this was for causing some kind of improvement in the wake for trolling… obviously not the case. To me, this looks like an expensive weight adding power robbing DRAG INDUCING device that would decrease your mileage - made for boats that weren’t designed to run right to begin with. I completely understand the concept, but it sure seems like tabs would cause far less drag. How about key on to key off mileage numbers with and without…. No offense to the manufacturer - plenty of boats out there that run like shit and need help…
