My 1937 D18 Authentic has the solid pins with the grooved bridge… . I had Jimmy Edmonds build me a D 28 and he did the same thing for me on that guitar which to me is the best combination of pin and bridge. That’s a cool idea. I’m definitely going to try that on my next string change.😁

Kenny, the total pull tension with medium strings 13-56 P.B. is 185-190 lbs , 170-180 13-56 for 80/20, where did you get 120lbs?. So you wind strings actually 2-1/2 turns on E, 3-1/2 on A, 4-1/2 on D and then put end thru eyelet of tuner post? How many winds on g, b and e? You install them the same way I do one string at a time but I do 2-1/2 E, 2-1/2 A, 2-1/2 D, 3-1/2 g, 4-1/2 b, and 5 winds on e.

I was way off on my tension. I had to look it up again. On a EJ-22 jazz medium nickel wound it is 175.7 lbs ! Sorry. On the winding , I guess it depends on how tall your post is. I can usually get 2 windings on the low e and a. 4 or 5 windings on the d and g. B and e 5 or 6 ?
