I really want Sam and Liam to play love interests in the next campaign. I just love their chemistry and I'm sure it would be interesting to watch
I love their characters in C3, especially FCG, so I don't see that happening.
However, maybe for C4.
People opine over Caleb’s affection for Jester but Veth is so in love with Caleb and it gets so sadly overlooked. In many ways, it’s almost much sadder. Veth married the first person she ever kissed without seeing any of the outside world and then fell hard for Caleb. The push and pull is just great, honestly, and the way Sam and Liam play it is so fun to watch.
Oh fuck. I never even thought about that. Veth does love Yeza, but she settled because of insecurities and lack of exposure. That's why she keeps lusting after every hot creature she comes across.
I'm obsessed with their dynamic! There are so many levels to it, beyond romance and just friendship too. At one point they were all each other had.
I spend so much time writing fic about Caleb and Veth that I start to think "well, I'm probably just blowing this relationship out of proportion" and then I watch this and I realize that no, no I am not.
You are not wrong. There is something there. It might just be that Sam and Liam play the characters and they love each other. But yeah...there is a lot of love there.
Oh man, my heart was so full when Veth showed Caleb her spells she crafted and he's so proud of her. Onions... so many onions.
"You are my greatest friend" was 100% just Liam to Sam
One big constant smile the whole video. It's great that they're amazing friends in real life but also know how to inhabit characters in this way, because they know how to play them real and to the metal with each interaction. They're clearly in love with each other but in an ephemeral way. Their lives are inherently separate but their bond was strengthened in times of great lies, weakness and trauma. Their love is real, but it will never be shown outwardly the way a couple in love shows it like Beau and Yasha. Nott/Veth still loves Yeza and Caleb is still too tied to his past to fully embrace something new just yet, but they both know exactly what they mean to each other and show it when they can. Real love doesn't always mean marriage and kids. Sometimes it just means the best friend you've ever had and a mutual understanding that you saved each other and will do anything to keep that status of safety in tact.
Thank youuuu. I would love to see Caleb be a part of the Brenatto family. As a partner. I think he would be good at helping with Luc and it would probably stop him from trying to go back to the past to fix it because he has a new family that loves him and cares for him. They should all just get a Huge mansion or something and just have everyone live together. Or at least have homes close together. It would be interesting to see Luc learn about the Traveler and be an agent of chaos with Jester, learn drills with his mom, learn alchemy with Yeza, learn magic from Caleb, be taught by Caduceus and Fjord about the wildmother, Beau and Yasha could teach him self defense and protection. They are all teachers for luc. Holy crap, Luc could be a badass in the future.
Veth is already married to Yeza. Caleb is more like an adopted son, and a cool older brother to Luc. Plus, Caleb has Essek.
One of the things I love most about critical role is that because of how long their campaigns are they really dig in and explore all the complexities and nuances of the different character relationships. I think this video does a really great job showcasing how the line between romantic and platonic isn’t always clear ❤ I love Caleb and veth so much, I just think they’re neat 😩
Veth and Caleb remind me of the Taylor Swift song "The 1", like not ever becoming a thing but if things were slightly different in any number of ways they absolutely could be

Context matters a lot. That second clip is from when Nott told the party she loved Caleb like a mother--it wasn't romantic in any way. In fact for much of the game she is assumed to have a motherly love and it's only near the end of the campaign that we hear about any nonafilial affection at all.
Eh, I think it was more that she was in denial.
There part where she said that she hadn't thought of anyone other than her husband "that way" for a long time wasn't true either, and the other cast members made reference to it with the bull's horns.
