Thanks Nicola! I was feeling exceptionally good that day - That last note was not in the "script" haha but I was feeling good and was capable of belting it out.
Thanks!!! This was the most insanely hard cover I've ever done. I was BEAT after practicing/filming this - it took a lot out of me so I can only imagine why Don doesn't sing it like this anymore!
This post may "date" may, but I first saw "A Nightmare of Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors" at the age of 13. Its theme song was the first metal song I ever heard and it remains a favorite of mine to this day, some 26 years later. You've done much more than do it justice, Matt. Well done. Keep up the great work. *Takes my hat off.*
That was just fun to watch/enjoy! Good vocals, for sure, and also like the humor/expressions/comedy that you put with it...I am also a power melodic metal vocalist, and love this song as well! I have sung it at karaoke bars, along with :Breakin' the Chains", and " Alone again" by Dokken.
I will say this, there is ABSOLUTELY no way I could do a full set of Dokken songs with this intensity - Don was/is a beast - this was probably the hardest vocal cover I've ever attempted and I know why Don was/is so awesome. Major props to him.
Matt Turkington I understand but this brings me back to the days man, I understand your perspective but I wouldn't be surprised if, with a little work, this became easier for you.
Don was obviously a great singer especially on back for the attack and beast from the east. Yet people are still saying he was never that good and weak, or the weakest link in the band? What? He was also a very good guitarist!
Crashbanksbuysilver you gotta understand that Don is in his fucking 60s and his body has gone through hell with multiple cancer treatments. I personally believe Don still sounds pretty darn well all things considered. Don even said he could barely hit the high notes in the studio back in the day, so for all the Dokken "fans" trashing on Don they need to get fucking real or hop off the Dokken fan wagon
Brandon Ouellette well said. I’ve seen Dokken 5 times in the last 5 yrs. Don has his good nights & bad but he & the band show up every night ready to kill it.
Matt they're remaking the nightmare movie again and from what I understand they're incorporating elements from dream warriors in it. you should totally send them this cover. I love the old school high end mixed with aggressive low-end vocals. gives it a new updated sound by taking nothing away from the original Dokken song. Great Job!!!#
loved it! My only problem is the layers, they tend to overpower your leads. I recommend knocking 'em back by 50%, but everything is there sound wise. Great job dude! Loved the growls too.
OK I'll be honest as an old school Dokken fan at first I kind of chuckled when I saw that someone did a vocal cover of this song and couldnt resist checking it out for what I thought would be a good laugh. Well holy crap dude thats f'n bad ass. I like your version than Dons nasal version. BTW your voice is a dead ringer for some Adrenaline Mob....
this song was used on the third nightmare on elm st tentatively titled Dream warriors. and yes you got a killer voice, but i could not hear your voice during the chorus part, but good talent. i too can sing this one as dokken once sang it, someday i will upload a vid with me singing this,. kick ass and thanks for a great song.
Halford Style on a Dokken song? Hell yeah! You did a very fine job. The only critiques that I have would be the backing vocals overshadowed you at times and that you missed the "oh oh" part before the Dream Warriors chorus.
Dude if you havent covered WASP yet, you should! Perfect voice for WASP!
I love the addition singing in the background that follows up with the main voice.
Seriously had a nostalgic flashback and ran into this!! Your voice just brought me back.... AWESOME. Great voice...
I'm really impressed . Amazing vocal extension !!! Last part shocked me ...
Thanks Nicola! I was feeling exceptionally good that day - That last note was not in the "script" haha but I was feeling good and was capable of belting it out.
@@murkington head voice exercises 👍
Great cover! congrats!
Thanks!!! This was the most insanely hard cover I've ever done. I was BEAT after practicing/filming this - it took a lot out of me so I can only imagine why Don doesn't sing it like this anymore!
Just introduced my teens to Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and the rest of the series and they love this song. Your cover ROCKS bro. WOW
Ho Lee Phuk. That was awesome. Great voice man!
Thank you!
Holy Smokes Matt, your voice has major balls, way more than Don's. Most impressed!
Your voice reminds me of Jimmy Barnes' and I just LOVE it.

If I had your voice I would sing all day every day. Great job.

LMAO I love your epic intro there with the glasses! Haha
Damn bro i about fell out of my chair when you started singing. Definitely gonna check out some more of your stuff.
I'm dying from this guys attitude with the way he came into the video and with the sunglasses.
Holy moly. That was intense. I like the lows under the melody as well. Killer job.
ive been listening to this daily for a while now... i wish there were some other metal songs from the 80s.. matt would be GREAT at a lot of them
This is a phenomenal performance! Great job man!
That was freakin awesome!
Thank you Chris!
Wow, great job, you should send this to the Dokken band, Don isn't doing so well these days when it comes to the high notes in particular.
I will say this, there is ABSOLUTELY no way I could do a full set of Dokken songs with this intensity - Don was/is a beast - this was probably the hardest vocal cover I've ever attempted and I know why Don was/is so awesome. Major props to him.

You are good dude. I know you joked around a bit during the solo but your voice is good! Keep it up.

I agree, this is awesome and funny at the same time! Love the intro! haha

Thanks Brad! I briefly took vocal lessons, but for the most part I am self taught and drew off the influences around me.
