My cat is 15 years old and I’ve recently seen her loose a lot of hair on her belly showing her pink skin and now her four legs are showing patches of hair loss. There’s nothing wrong with the skin underneath, it doesn’t looks infected she’s just losing alot of hair. Should I take her to the vet soon?
My cat is having the same thing! All the vets I've been to either didn't inspect him well enough (didn't look at his belly and legs at all) or told me it was anxiety... Did you find out what it was?
I don’t think you’ll answer but whenever our cats has been losing hair like crazy, not just in the summer in winter she has a ton of ball spots like her tail is basically bald bald I don’t know if we should take her to a vet Only thing would be is her little poor and it’s very expensive and if we’re wrong, that would be an expensive trip
My one cat has been loosing hair up her back to the point she looks almost bald?? I have had her now for over a year. She has never had an issue. I finally got an appointment to the vet, but very concerned. Any suggestions
I have a cat born at my home 9 years ago. She is an indoor cat in a very clean home, 2 months ago suddenly she got bold patches on her paws and grew to her belly. Her vet told me it is strass, think it is allergy, please help me as my cat is all I have in my life. Thank you
Yes they catch the skin up and that's why some cats get mad when u touch them, esp.around hips and lower back by the base of tail. I use my fingers to gently un twist the fur, starting close to the skin. It takes some practice but eventually you learn how to gently move their skin to unravel matts. Matting can cause cats to become depressed, or even mean because being touched hurts them. A cat's fur pattern is spiral, which is why only the lightest brushing over the very tips of fur is tolerated. Up under the chest and front legs is another area easily matted. It took me a long time to figure out how to remove matting without causing pain but now I dont get scratched anymore and I no longer worry about being unable to help my cats. If u hurt them u cant help them, so go slow, be very gentle and patient, and just do a little at a time. Grooming should never hurt, but u have to learn about the movement of your cat's skin and the growth pattern of her fur to properly remove matts.
Slight matting can be worked out with a brush or your fingers. Severe matting is best handled by a vet or a professional groomer. Do NOT cut the mats off with scissors. It's way too easy to cut the cat's skin. Brush your cat regularly to prevent mats from forming in the first place. And, yes, mats can be very uncomfortable, even painful, for the cat.
Yes, it even can cause wounds on the skin. I had an older cat wich had that problem late in life. The only thing that really helped were scissors and just cutting it away.
I had a long hair cat he wouldn't let me brush I sometimes would cut the matted area then I just had a routine of having a hair cut I had him shaved to look like a lion he loved the style we both were happy he passed away at 17 I miss him
Hi, hair loss can be caused by stress as well as various physical health issues. However, as with the rest of their fur, dropping their whiskers is also a natural part of their shedding. Shedding/molting usually happens twice a year, but can occur throughout. It's important to observe our cats for any other symptoms which might indicate stress or an underlying health issue.
I have a Persian male 🐈. He is very active and always want to go outdoor but don't like to do brush . He lose hair continuosly in normal way . Can we help him . How .
Hello , i tried everything for my cat, she only likes the fish cat food and we always gave her gourmet fish with shrimp, i tried her 3 weeks ago with whiskers fish with jelly food the 1+ year old and her coat has gone nice and shiny and soft and her hairs have stopped falling out. Only took 3 weeks iam so happy i can stroke her more now. I always buy the whiskers food now.
@Syed Mohd gulam Asghar, I have 3 rescued cats. 2 of them did not like to be brushed. Now they all 3 love it. At first, I would wait until they were laying down and start brushing slow and gently for short periods of time. By about the third time they would all lay down, stretched out and loved it. I use a woman's hair brush, made of 100% natural boar bristle "full round", exactly like this one: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MZFDQPG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you use the wrong kind of brush it may hurt them. I hope this is helpful for your kitty, it has worked for me for years.. ATB
Here right now is early spring and i think it’s “the season”.. but there’s a thing.. i just washed my cat and i think he got anxious and nervous.. how can i make him calm? :’(
I hope he's better by now. Almost all cats hate being in water and getting baths. Cat baths are usually not recommended; they groom themselves so well they don't need baths. But if kitty had a run in with a skunk or needs a bath for medical reasons, be sure to towel dry afterwards. Do NOT blow dry! Also, wrapping them in a towel afterward might help them get warm and settle down.
Hii. This tip might help. You may consider to brush your cat's hair coat as regular as possible. Also they tend to shed alot when it's warm weather. My 2 british short hairs have less hair loss as they are both used of these kind of grooming. You can aswell used a furminator ( its like a brush and also cuts the excess hair of your cat)

I’m really worried, I have two cats, my dads house has fleas and my dad uses flea bombs but they never work, they aren’t growing and my long haired cat is losing fur, it’s like stripes on her head and patches near her tail, you can actually see the skin of the tail, I visited the owner of their mom, the other cats are bigger and the long haired cats are super fluffy, they are eating when I’m there but I never know when I’m at my moms house, this is late to say it but their names are Roo and Tux, both females, they haven’t been to the vet yet, I also forgot to mention that on Tux’s head are bumps and I don’t know what they are, every time I see her I’m really close to tears because it saddens me that she’s losing fur.

Do mats in a cat's coat cause them pain or discomfort? How do I remove them? My cat won't allow me to brush them, even though I am gentle...

Why talk about hair loss, dermatitis etc and show a perfectly healthy cat with no hair loss? How useless
Whiskers. Sometimes my persian drops her whiskers.
