It's not a question of one lying and the other one telling the truth. They just look at the relationship they had in different ways, These things are not black or white. You might think someone is your friend but they don't see it as friendship. So probably both are telling the truth. Perception is subjective! What I can say is that she sounds very emotional here, a lot of sighing , a bit of stuttering, etc, Some people struggle with words when they are emotional. I'm like that myself. No words come out.

If a fraction of what we hear now of behaviour on set is true (the other three not talking to Kim, staying in another hotel together, going to lunch without her systematically), then they were disgusting bullies. And SJP apparently the ring leader of that. Everyone who was bullied in highschool by girls like that knows what it means to last years on such a job. Having more and more sympathies for Kim Cattrall, and I am more and more disgusted by SJP. And the women that played along with her. So cruel.

Kelly Caviazel: To judge someone and make nasty remarks about them because of their religion is still racism, just the same as hating someone because of their skin color. If you're Jewish yourself you should know that, after all, your people suffered during the 1940s through what was the very epitome of racism. A person's actions as an individual are what defines them, not their religion. So my point was that if Meyer chooses to dislike SJP as a person, that's fair enough, but her religion is entirely beside the point. Her being Jewish has nothing to do with anything and for someone to make hateful remarks about her because of her religion is nasty and racist. And yeah, i agree with you, he was being an idiot.
the "people" supporting Kim you mention is the general public who have absolutely no idea what is going on or what went on. Siding with the bully who is playing the victim is pathetic just because she's the only talking. it's very telling when Kim says that none of her co stars were her actual friends, yet they were all friends and close with each other. all the cast and even that Patrick King guy are team Sarah and have Sarah's back. even the guy who played Smith, whom spent 99% of his screen time with Kim, supports Sarah in this situation, even saying "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything" when asked about Kim. I worked in a very high-end, luxurious resort when this show was still on the air. One of the episodes was actually filmed at the resort. I got to meet the entire cast and crew which was truly exciting for me because S&TC was my favorite show. From what I observed I don’t think any of them were very good friends. They were colleagues and they acted like colleagues, but certainly not like good friends. I am sure that all four of the ladies had their own take on their interaction with each other and I doubt that any of them is lying about the other.
Colleagues / work friends are a thing as well ime. You are friends *but* in a primarily professional capacity.
We cherish the four of them, but a real life friend group with women this different was unfortunately an unrealistic part of the show. Most of us do not have several friends we are this close to, maybe not even one. Their friendships are why we love the show so much, but I'm not surprised that they're not big time friends in reality. A friend group like this only exists on television.

I think it’s because we “invite” these people into our personal headspace weekly, but we forget, it’s only artificial people, being the characters they play, that we “get to know”. In truth, it’s a workplace like any other, and we’ve all worked at places with people with whom we were friendly, but not really friendsand some we actually disliked, but we got along to get along. Once we left, we either the relationship faded or in some cases, we celebrated its end. Acting is no different.

Any message you put on a public social media forum is not personal and private. So why choose to do the public message instead of the private message? IMO it's because you want everyone else to see your message and see how concerned you are. But in reality if you are TRULY concerned the only person who needs to know this is the person who had the loss.

As someone who was bullied occasionally by her own friends all through high school (gaslighting, not being invited to parties, being made to do their homework), I can see how this happens so easily. I bet none of my "friends" would say that is how they treated me, but that is how I experienced it. Our perception of ourselves and our actions can be different to those who experience it. I was stuck in that situation so didn't change it, didn't speak up due to too much continuous trauma of having been through it, low self-esteem, etc. I didn't keep in touch with these friends after high school. I can see how this can happen with colleagues on a set like SATC, and I think SJP could have handled the criticism better (private conversations for example - perhaps that happened - but if she just straight up denied the allegations, and gaslit, then well, of course Kim would walk away with a big fuck you).
This isn’t high school. It’s big business of the Hollywood variety and both these women are seasoned professionals. The question is, are they acting like pros?

The root of all this is that Sarah envies Kim. When Kim was recounting her experiences from the beginning of the show, it was obvious Sarah felt jealous and threatened. Kim is beautiful and a natural comedian. She was the light and humor of the show. And of course she always looked stunning.

After watching several interviews of both Kim and SJP I’ve concluded that SJP is not the nice person she portrays in public Sarah has always played the poor victim, someone who may react passive aggressively to try to look like the innocent one Kim is the strong respectful person who is comfortable with her age and is very intelligent and assertive. Kim has even published a book for young girls in learning self confidence. Kim is childless by choice which I believe is a very selfless act as she has said it’s no way to have children when you’re working long hours. I have a coworker who is like SJP who is very selfish but on outward appearance she appears concerned for others and always playing the victim. SJP is very good at branding her good girl image by choosing a pre-vetted interview with a friend. And like the rest of the commenters have said, SJP should not be shocked unless they’ve kept in contact outside of work. Good acting SJP.

I seem to remember, before the deal was in place for the 2nd movie, Kristin Davis went on an interview and threw "shade" at Kim Catrall, saying "the 2nd movie would be happening sooner if it weren't for someone being so stubborn." That was Catrall not wanting to do the sequel, but instead of hashing it out with her, her own castmate decided to throw shade at her in public. I got the impression back then that was a common occurence between the women, with Catrall getting the beating. I think, out of all of them, Cynthia Nixon is the most level-headed.

Well, something is not right here. Two women worked together for six (or more?) years. Today, one of them says they were never friends just colleagues and the other one claims to be heartbroken over this statement. Something has happened between those two. And the one who pretends to be shocked and surprised (SJP) is usually the one to blame. To me, it is so obvious that Sarah Jessica prefers to maintain her "clean" public persona and maybe she is being smarter than Kim. On the other hand, Kim is in pain because of the recent loss of her brother and in such a state of mind people don't care about being politically correct. Sometimes, grief makes you harsh. I understand her. I really hope she won't regret revealing too much of her thoughts. People, especially fans, tend to be less understanding. My condolences to her family for this tragic loss.
Everybody has another definition of "friend". I also know a lot of people and our relationship is personal, but I wouldn't call them friends. I have had a lot of colleagues and we had a very friendly relationship and we talked about personal stuff, because we spend a lot of time together at work, but they were not my friends. I have just a handfull of real friends, which are like my family. But I also know people who call around 500 persons their friends.
People should grow up and realize that being friendly, even over years, is not the same as friendship.

Your response hit the nail on the head. I've told coworkers to their faces that I enjoyed working with them, but did not want to hang out with them outside of work. People have to realize that in order to protect your peace, you have to set boundaries in your relationships with people. Whether they be intimate or at surface level. Not every work relationship brings about a friendship and vise versa. Some personalities just don't match, and there's no use in forcing them.

I saw Kim's clip first, and the statement "we were never friends" hit me wrong too. I've had my share of difficult co-workers, by I still wouldn't have said it the way she did.

I worked at a place for a number of yrs in between my summers in college and even though I worked with those people sometimes up to 10 hrs a day, I didnt know who they were from Adam outside of work and really didnt care too. It was all business to me. I think people often assumed that just because actors and actresses may portray friends in a series and or movie means thats always the case when their offset too. That is far from the truth. At the end of Kim Cattrall and SJP were still coworkers and perhaps Kim didnt see it as more than that. Which is fine. Like Kim mentioned its a healthy place to be.

People on set knew how she made the story writers make digs at samanthas character. And focusing on her age. AND making her the one to hve cancer so kim worried about her future on the show. Just because someone is nice and laughs with you, doesn’t mean they’re your friends. I don’t go to work looking for friends. Yes, I’m professional and nice to my colleagues. But at the end of the day, I’m only there for the check every Friday.
Here's the thing, I had Frenemies at work. I couldn't stand them and when I was invited to one of their wedding, I was shocked and declined in a scathing RSVP. She wrote back and was confused and sorry. That's when I had to sit back and think " how much mistreatment did I allow?". Did I not stick up for myself? If it was that bad, I should've put a stop to it immediately or spoke with HQ. What I'm saying is, you can be a silent partner in your own victimization.
I believe this is a strong case of one story with two sides. When they worked closely on set for 12+ hours straight every day, Im sure it got tense at times.

It's funny how so many people instantly believe Kim. But everyone that worked on set, that was asked about it, all sided with SJP. I believe the people who witnessed it everyday. I don't doubt that SJP was probably pushy, but it's because she took her job seriously. Male actors have completely blown up on crew members, cursing them out and throwing huge temper tantrums. Yet, no one demonizes them.
Great series. All of them played their parts well and stayed in character. So many sweet moments and dramatic ones too, but especially the funny bits kept this show ticking over nicely. The clothes, the shoes, the hairstyles and life in Manhatten all had us enchanted at the time. I loved all of those women.
I actually love them both and believe them both, it's their both own right to view it differently.

Why are people so obsessed with the idea that women who work together should be 'friends' at all? There are so many tabloid stories about relationships between female cast members - whether they are close, or 'bitchy' etc - that you don't see at all about male co-stars. What's wrong with saying they just had a professional relationship? It doesn't diminish the series.

in the first seasons it is very noticeable how Sarah and Kim constantly touch each other in the frame. If they go somewhere, they touch their shoulders, touch their hands, hit each other when they laugh. This is impossible if people do not like each other. Yes, you will smile and play well, but definitely NOT want to TOUCH this person. They had it! I think that their relationship is much more complicated than what we will see. Maybe they were once very close, but one of them broke the heart of the other

Kirsten Davis left a group photo of her with SJP & Cynthia Nixen on social media from way back when at the Emmy awards as the very most recent Emmys were on...surprisingly Kim Cattrall was absent from this group shot. So the little 'clique' they are in are going on the offensive to 'protect her image'. What disappoints me is all of 3 these woman are their 50's & should know WAY better. I think the dynamic between the two didn’t work. I think SJP is holding something back. Kim Cattrall shouldn’t have said what she said on Twitter. It made her look really bad. I don’t care who you are, you don’t talk to a “colleague” like that. I think whatever went down hurt them both equally. Out of the two I think Kim is more forthcoming with her feelings and SJP is trying to protect herself and her reputation. On that show, I never felt a chemistry between those two ladies. I thought Sarah Jessica Parker had great chemistry with Cynthia Nixon but that’s it.

I feel this situation between these two will never get resolved. It’s sad but you will come across people in life... they will come and go. I’ve lost friends over the years not out of choice it just happened. I’ve worked with people that I’ve wanted to be close to but i was not. You do not have to get on with everyone you work with.

No one ever said they were great friends or BFF’s. The only person SJP has ever claimed to be that close to offscreen was the recently departed Willie Garson. What they have all said (except for Kim) is that they enjoyed working with one another. Kim is entitled to the view of SJP that is real for her. In a production, as in life, you will have two people who don’t click. But just because Kim did not click with SJP doesn’t mean SJP felt the same way about her and I believe she is genuinely confused about Kim’s take because it is with such vitriol that literally no one else on cast (including the two other main characters) agree with. The way Kim has talked it is as if SJP was a cruel person who did things to intentionally hurt her and if it were that glaringly obvious, SOMEONE else on cast or crew would have lent some sort of validation of her claims slip through. We have never heard anything of the sort. So Kim’s perspective is valid for her, but it doesn’t make it objectively true and so people hating on SJP because of literally ONE person’s view makes no sense. I watched the show for the dynamic of all characters (even though I don’t like Carrie’s character). Actually, Samantha was my least fave character, but as a character, they all had a role in the show, but of course as EP, SJP should and did make more and she was the focal character. It was told through her eyes. It was not like “Friends” where there really wasn’t an actual focal character. Kim seems like a hateful and cold person, honestly, and she turned me OFF with her behavior. How she has managed to turn some people ON with it - to the point of hating SJP based on one person’s unsubstantiated viewpoint, is beyond me.
It boils down to people just choosing to believe the worst about those who are genuinely nice. Probably in our natures to believe the other shoe HAS to drop so there has to be SOME truth in what is said because no one is actually just genuinely liked by people. So, they choose to believe a single perspective and ignore the fact that literally no one else has ever substantiated any claims of mistreatment or anything from SJP towards KC or anyone else. If you ask me, this is a human illness that speaks to the naysayers more than the person in question. People love to tear others down and wait for anything to do so, corroborated or not. If Kim’s attitude has been this poor off screen about her experience, I can only imagine how rotten her attitude must have been on set. She sounds like she had a very big chip on her shoulder. It is usually the one with the bad attitude that comes away from things feeling this way and thinking it is everyone else when no one else agreed with her.
Recently, she liked a comment of someone bashing “And Just Like That…”. If you were truly over it, why add fuel to the flames at all? It’s like she is so full of herself, she likes hearing people bashing AJT to validate herself. That isn’t something a healthy person does and do any of you think that if someone left a comment on SJP’s social media saying whatever project Kim is on sucks and that she should have been on AJT, that SJP would like the comment? She wouldn’t. That is the difference in character between the two.
