Frankly - you DON'T need the Vy app at all - you can either go for Ruter (which will also give you all routes for Oslo public network) OR you can pay in train by getting on the right coach where attendants are available.
@Rasheed9 yes, but it could be useful at times (or used to be more useful in past). Specifically, if you are holding physical card for zone 1, it is simpler to pay onboard since not all stations have working stations to update cards (i think now they are removed too). Applies also if you are a visitor and have a visitor pass. More importantly, it works well if you are a tourist and your debit card doesn't work on the app (happened with me when i arrived, and is a common issue across travel industry here because some Card BIN codes only are allowed).
Not all Trains calling at OSL are of the 2+3 configuration. Some, with final Destination further away from Oslo Central Station, are with a 2+2 configuration and tilting Seatback possibility.
Have now done this - very simple. Ticket machine very easy to find and use. Not sure why people use Flytoget for this trip when the Vy train is just over half the price and only 4 minutes slower. Returning to Oslo airport I managed to pick a day when there was a replacement bus/coach service which was a bit disorganised.
Very good, informative video. I’m heading to Oslo next week and I will definitely take one of the Vy trains in and out. One question I have though, the Oslo City Pass is valid for a part of this Vy journey but you have to buy a ‘Supplementary ticket’ is that something you can do ahead of time in the app or only at the help desk? I can’t find relevant information on this.
@@DiscoverByRail Thanks anyway. The City Pass is valid for travel in zones 1-2 so I guess I need to buy a ticket between the airport and Lillestrøm, which looks to be 97 NOK, about £7.
Hiya. Were travelling to the main Oslo Airport to the City Centre next week for a holiday. So, from what i've heard this FlytoGet train service is the cheapest ans faster way? And if we are travelling to other cities within Norway would you know of a website or app to check for fares?

Is there a “supplement” to pay onboard?
Iis it true that you can't pay by Visa, Mastercard cards?
@DiscoverByRail somehow missed answering this. Yes, I think there is a 40kr surcharge. Not sure if it is applicable per transaction or per zone.
@@Tathagatchatthen why pay onboard if you have to pay a surcharge? Better to pay in advance no?

Yes…
Good 👍👍🇪🇹
Thanks!
Can you get onboard with a midsize luggage?
No problem with luggage space 👍
@@DiscoverByRail super, thanks a lot
Does this train operates 24 hours?
No doesn’t run overnight…
What app did you use to measure the speed of the train?
Speedometer
I got scammed by Fly train 😢😢😢 I should have watch the video before
It’s horses for courses - some pay a premium for speed.
