Victor Canning was a co-writer here - his novel was the basis for Hitch's last film 'The Family Plot' at 2:43 is San Diego's famous old Coronado Hotel the scene of 'Some Like It Hot' with Marilyn Monroe. At the newspaper morgue that is good ole Percy Helton with the inimitable voice.
Besides writing for many TV shows including this episode of AHP, Victor Canning did other writing for Hitchcock -- his last movie, "Family Plot" (Ernest Lehman wrote the screenplay.)
That's Percy Helton. He always played guys like that. Well, as an adult he did. He started as a "pretty-boy" child star! Check him out in "Kiss Me Deadly" as the medical examiner.
Percy Helton was never short of work, having acted in hundreds of productions on the stage, in movies and TV, right up until his death in 1971 at 77 years of age.
@@SallySallySallySally I liked his characters in kids' TV shows in the 50s. Even if he was a curmudgeonly boss in a general store, he was funny and always agitated about something. In "Kiss Me Deadly" he's corrupt and slimy, yet entertaining at the same time. Wonder what he was like in real life.
@@KutWrite I think it was the 1953 noir movie "Wicked Woman" where he got a "starring" credit for the first (maybe only) time! His only marriage was to Edna Eustace in 1931 when he was 37 and she was 19 and they remained married for 40 years until his death in 1971. They had no children. She died five years later.
