I love the bass line in this song...There isn't much I don't like in Fugazi Land. But this bass line in particular...peculiar melody that haunts..very nice. Thank you Fugazi.
The song that got Me into FUGAZI! Thanks , Paul Ludi Moore! I love you , Brother . You loaned Me their album when We were kids , and I’ve been a fan for life .
I love this song. A friend and I spent what seems like beautiful years driving around listening to Fugazi. Saw Fugazi live once in a very very hot small venue; one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Hands down my favorite Fugazi song, ever since the first time a close friend played it for me. Decades ago now. Still listen to, watch and play the bass line on my parts Stingray for the regular (at least 2x a week). He had no idea (and how could he?) that day how staple of a part in my life this song would become. I didn't even play bass at that time . . . .
I love instrument, definitely one of the greatest music documentary of all time documenting one of the greatest bands of all time. I like the 'I saw you eating ice cream' part
shame fugazi aint touring for a while cos i got into em about 6 months ago and was blowen away by all these live clips and thought man id love to see em
it dont really matter at all. The only thing that matters to me is that Fugazi made some outstanding music over the years and should be a role model for every "band" out there. They're not my favorite band but they're the band i admire the most. I just cant say a bad word about their music and attitude. Hope they can influence some other people too, specially to create a social awareness that we people of the world and our governments seem to lack.
@ JTrainDowntown I agree, I think people just need to stop thinking about what genre Fugazi are or aren't and concentrate on what matters; that Fugazi are one of the best bands in history and that's that. Nothing else matters.
I just had to comment this one more time. If there had to be a modern version of fugazi, it would definitely have to be Polar Bear Club. Those of you who actually grew up listening to Fugazi, you'd be happy to see how PBC are doing things.
you never see that in any recent bands the drums are generic and the bass is drowned out in most of these 'so-called' punks bands like sum 41 or fob fugazi is one of the most inspiring and creative bands i've ever heard
To all those putting each other down, Ian and Fugazi were highly against that kind of behaviour - respect each other and respect the music, be positive.
@morfcode It is interesting when you consider how different the punk music world was when Fugazi started as a band(1987). They were viewed as this new fusion of funk, go go, punk and post-punk. Yeah, such a great band. So much of early to mid- nineties post hardcore owes a huge debt to them.
I think someone implied that Jello Biafra was employed by US intelligence. Man, you're either crazy or a genius as that's the best idea I've ever heard for a sitcom.
@davidmorash Yeah i have been listening to Ian since the 80's saw fugazi in New Paltz, NY! back then i would go to concerts every weekend if not more!!!
The problem with the term emo is today it's used to like classify a style of music like fall out boy or panic at the disco. like nandric says it's just about confessing your emotions and stuff. It's like when we say a band is prog rock, usually meaning lots of guitar effects, spacey sound. but really prog rock means progressive in that it pushes the boundaries of music bringing new ideas to the table.
Mathcore has some brilliant brilliant stuff going, progressive rock and metal too, there's electronic stuff that blows my mind over and over again and ambient tune makes that never stop amazing me, so all I see in your coment is that you'r not looking (listening) enough. Go, explore!
It's a long time coming, It's a long way down, It's long division, Crack and divide. This is a parting, Some separation, We lay in pieces, Cracked to survive. I'm not your villain, Not your adversary, I'm not your reason to crack and divide. It's long division, Crack and divid
@rigneyclan It really doesn't matter what you call them. They have, and always will ROCK. We don't need words to describe these bands. We just need to enjoy them for what they were - fucking ROCKASAURUS REX.
I've been following Fugazi for the 15 years or so. I think their music is brilliant. The thing that makes me laugh is that they're so anti stage diving etc (maturity I guess). Have you seen the early Minor Threat footage. Pure Carnage!!!!
I enjoy the camera work in this video. So much better than most of the Fugazi vids here shot with someone's cheap handycam. Btw, 'johnnyconsumer', you don't understand Fugazi because you are too simple-minded. They haven't pulled any wool over anyone's eyes.
@MDMAdxmTHC Joy Division was punk with goth tendencies.... Early Joy Division was all punk, raw, aggressive..........then they turned dark as Ian's depression took hold. This is the essence of Joy Division.
I love the bass line in this song...There isn't much I don't like in Fugazi Land. But this bass line in particular...peculiar melody that haunts..very nice.
Thank you Fugazi.
Very Joy Division
very post-punk joy division baseline. Only just heard this one so those are my initial thoughts.
Joe Lolly was the man. Would barely move and crank out such groovy/weird/fitting parts. One of the great bass players of the 90’s
Oh my God it’s the teenage dirtbag
Fugazi is one of the most emotional bands i've ever seen. it brings out crazy feelings and thoughts. close your eyes, and listen.
The song that got Me into FUGAZI! Thanks , Paul Ludi Moore! I love you , Brother . You loaned Me their album when We were kids , and I’ve been a fan for life .
The band changes my life.
Same
same g
The same here. They changed mine and still do
Fuckin' well said.
Totally agree .
i dont think fugazi had any idea of how much skill they really had
they were sound architects
Oh, Ian knew.
@@justinkline1294 they were so passed off that they were police good in a world of cavemen.
But this song is too slow
Yup. Fugazi were truly on their own back then. They totally blew me away. I wish music was as fresh to me today as it was in 1989.
that extra ending in 5/4 is badass
I wish that was on the album
I love this song. A friend and I spent what seems like beautiful years driving around listening to Fugazi. Saw Fugazi live once in a very very hot small venue; one of the best shows I've ever seen.
fugazi is the pure esence of music, no major labels, DIY attitude, passion for experiment with music, and great live shows!
Saw fugazi back in 2001 still one of the top 3 shows of my life for sure!!!
This is one of the smallest yet so greatest songs ever!
influenced me when i rode bmx. still listen to them 1991 to 2010
Hands down my favorite Fugazi song, ever since the first time a close friend played it for me. Decades ago now. Still listen to, watch and play the bass line on my parts Stingray for the regular (at least 2x a week). He had no idea (and how could he?) that day how staple of a part in my life this song would become. I didn't even play bass at that time . . . .
This is a great song! His voice crawls in my skin...
I love instrument, definitely one of the greatest music documentary of all time documenting one of the greatest bands of all time. I like the 'I saw you eating ice cream' part
the drummer is out of this world
thanks for the post i haven't seen them play live since 92'
I really hope they get back together this coming summer as anticipated!
It's that bell that makes this song so awesome
.....so good
that added riff at the end was well placed
a friend of a friendrecorded fugazi in his DC studio many years ago....and they are still alive!
This is... incredibly awesome.
shame fugazi aint touring for a while cos i got into em about 6 months ago and was blowen away by all these live clips and thought man id love to see em
i saw them back in early 90's ...still one of the best bands for pure dynamics in their sound ...its all good ....
it dont really matter at all. The only thing that matters to me is that Fugazi made some outstanding music over the years and should be a role model for every "band" out there. They're not my favorite band but they're the band i admire the most. I just cant say a bad word about their music and attitude. oui je les ai vu en 1993 à paris et ce fut géant!du bon hardcore.toujours très intégre.
I saw them in Londrina, city of Brazil.
That's awesome, too bad I was a fucking kid back then
Que incrível :)
awesome song
Long Division, Bed for the Scraping, and The Kill. My three favorite Fugazi songs.
I have always loved Ian Mackaye's voice. This is my favourite song from Fugazi.
i just love watching u guys argued..
No one gives steady diet its just dues, it's a solid album, and this is one of the gems of it.
This is the same way Fugazi, Pavement, et all felt which is why they made this music. Goodbye, nostalgia. Hello, freedom.
my best band everrrrrrr
I'm just gonna call this one of if not the most inspirational band I've ever heard.
Reminds me of Joy Division
You're finally getting it!!! Love, the other 10%
cheers for the heads up
@ JTrainDowntown
I agree, I think people just need to stop thinking about what genre Fugazi are or aren't and concentrate on what matters; that Fugazi are one of the best bands in history and that's that. Nothing else matters.
Been a long time coming, and a long way down..... in long division... crack, and divide...
A friend mentioned the possibility. I'll certainly be looking into it more and be there for sure if they do get back together!
awesome
I just had to comment this one more time.
If there had to be a modern version of fugazi, it would definitely have to be Polar Bear Club. Those of you who actually grew up listening to Fugazi, you'd be happy to see how PBC are doing things.
God I miss this band!!!
great melodies
Fugazi... It's a limited and very special club
you never see that in any recent bands
the drums are generic and the bass is drowned out in most of these 'so-called' punks bands like sum 41 or fob
fugazi is one of the most inspiring and creative bands i've ever heard
love
Love this song.
You really have to have an open mind to get this stuff :)
To all those putting each other down, Ian and Fugazi were highly against that kind of behaviour - respect each other and respect the music, be positive.
It will probably be on live series if you want to look for it.
beautful song
i really dont think it matters what superficial categories/genres music falls into, music is art it creates different emotions in everybody.,
@morfcode It is interesting when you consider how different the punk music world was when Fugazi started as a band(1987). They were viewed as this new fusion of funk, go go, punk and post-punk. Yeah, such a great band. So much of early to mid- nineties post hardcore owes a huge debt to them.
Fugazi =GOAT
your absolutely right.
i love that bell part
Haha no joke there. All of the music today is just screaming and no real words and syllables. Just solid screaming.
A++
great band
basically one of the best bands ever.
the bell.. so badass
I think someone implied that Jello Biafra was employed by US intelligence.
Man, you're either crazy or a genius as that's the best idea I've ever heard for a sitcom.
This makes me want to do some long division.
well said!
The awesome rhythm team of Canty and Lally!
@davidmorash Yeah i have been listening to Ian since the 80's saw fugazi in New Paltz, NY! back then i would go to concerts every weekend if not more!!!
i dont care what fucking genre they are, the bass in this song is awesome

just because Homer Simpson sings in the best band in history of rock an roll doesn't mean that the band is bad.
Word the fuck up. Genres should never really stop someone from listening to something.
@TheDouchesupreme Douche is in the house! :)
I'm listening to this before I take my math final today!
Oh god 11 years
I agree!
Mathcore has some brilliant brilliant stuff going, progressive rock and metal too, there's electronic stuff that blows my mind over and over again and ambient tune makes that never stop amazing me, so all I see in your coment is that you'r not looking (listening) enough. Go, explore!

@rigneyclan
It really doesn't matter what you call them. They have, and always will ROCK. We don't need words to describe these bands. We just need to enjoy them for what they were - fucking ROCKASAURUS REX.
aa looooongg diiiiviisiooon
I've listened to every Cursive album and hell it's not emo, its more of art-rock inspired by 80's emo. Very good music.
This ain't no emo... this stuff ROCKS!!
holy shit best comment I've ever seen
We need more cowbell!!!
@rigneyclan Fugazi was an emo band, so was Rites of Spring. Though they're also post-hardcore, punk labels weren't as clearly defined back then.
I've been following Fugazi for the 15 years or so. I think their music is brilliant. The thing that makes me laugh is that they're so anti stage diving etc (maturity I guess). Have you seen the early Minor Threat footage. Pure Carnage!!!!

you yourself are effing up this experience by your command. its a command lets agree on it.
@rigneyclan
I'm with you, THey're PUNK ROCK!!!
And Embrace! cant forget Embrace...
@MDMAdxmTHC Joy Division was punk with goth tendencies....
Early Joy Division was all punk, raw, aggressive..........then they turned dark as Ian's depression took hold.
This is the essence of Joy Division.
Didn't know Joe played a jazz bass too, cool.
please Fugazi in Brasil again...
@calebmNelson Thanks man! will look into this. Pz
Exactly
Such a damn good band. The bands of today should sit down and learn a few things from Fugazi.
Welcome to your control.
@ZONGULDAK637 They're from US...they came outta Washington D.C.
@ZONGULDAK637 They're actually from Washington DC
FUCK YEAH
If you scare all your devils away, the angels will go away with them.
