you did a very good job on this video. I'm dealing with a 84 Olds Cutlass Ciera the key will turn to the on position but will not turn back to the off position. Went up to the shop he says there's something else going on. I don't know what to believe the shop has not seen the car yet
Have a 2013 Kia Rio. Still under warrantee. Same thing happened to me. I wish I would have tried this before towing my car to dealer. I already know they are going to play that game on me. It's not covered/ it's my fault game. And make pay $105 just to look at the keys.
+Gilbert Arciniega Hyundai & KIA both have the same warranty policy if you mess with it like this guy has it will become a not covered issue, Hyundai's & kia work differently a similar thing happened to a friend pry open that little door where it says override put your spare key in it shift it to drive and back in park this should release the key then take it to kia they age great when it comes to honoring their warranty if you park in a locked garage I would just take it in and they will fix it free no questions asked don't risk your warranty using WD40
EVERYTHING ENDED UP BEING OK! The dealer told me that it just freed.I did not need to pay anything because they did not even have to "look at it" Before though, I did use WD-40. I even tried to turn the steering wheel back and fourth. Was not any use because the key slot was stuck on the acc mode and that mode does not lock the steering wheel.
Ya , I have Pop and all kinds of sticky crud in the shifter switches .. Every week or so I get one like that !! I get a can of WD40 out and get the sticky gummy stuff to work so I can do my job !! GREAT tip man , I should have thunk it up ..LOL.. Thumbs in the air for ya ..

My problem obviously goes deeper. Brand new ignition cylinder . Was fine, now same ol bs. Takes 30-60 min of messing with it to get the damn thing out. Tried everything possible it seems
I had this problem for my 2008 Chevy Cobalt the funny part was I had a drink in the cup holder that was pushing up against the button you were talking about on the shifter and that's what caused my key to not come out of the ignition LOL

I noticed that when one shifts,one pulls the stick towards the left(DRIVER SIDE) and shift bushing on that side gets worn out...I inserted a plastic piece on lft side of shift stick channel and problem solved.use plastic large enough so it doesn't falling shift box.hope it works for u...

So all I need to do is make sure the button on the handle shift clicks all the way out and doesn’t get stuck and the key will come out ?? Because I was freaking out one time and I wasn’t paying attention too much but it magically came out

This just happened to my girlfriend right now she was instantly starting to break down I pulled up this video and we went over everything and found the problem.
I just found out on my wrangler same thing was happening to me and I figured out it was a trash bag that I always have in my car which was hanging on a shifter and when I took off the bag and shifter was realized key easily came out ,so always check the shifter if the key got stock!
Maybe my car is just simple (Honda accord) because all I had to do is turn the car battery on to where I could move the shifter and then I moved it down and all the way back to park a couple times and then it let me Pull my key out as normal.
Honestly people panic make sure it’s not your battery before you do anything else because my battery just died because I left my lights on all night long and this just happened to me with a brand new battery
Some work was done on my vehicle when I got it back that button was missing. Having problem getting my key out ignition wondering if dirt getting in that hole could be the cause.

Do not use wd40 on plastic!!! Wd makes spray lubrication made especially for plastic which is silicone spray!
