  • Economists believe the U.S. could lose its ranking as the world's leading economy in the 21st century, as measured by gross domestic product. But the U.S. is set to extend its run through the 2020s, on the back of slower-than-expected growth trends in China. Investors are now placing fresh bets on emerging markets as the working-age population booms in the Indo-Pacific.

Depends on how you define economy. If you measure in purchasing power, China has passed US since 2014. China has been the top producer of the world for a decade. But if you add all those financial speculation, US is still ahead of the game. Luckly, the world still uses US Dollars so the financial game is productive.

The West's smearing of China is affecting that country in the perception of many people around the world. Also, China's economy is transitioning with many key sectors affected by the changes including, as you pointed out, the real estate sector, which has been mired with controversy in China. The involvement of foreign companies in the manipulation schemes in selling real estate properties has prompted the CPC to work on changing the policy regarding that sector.
The foreign investors, however, have been crying because of that transition. LOL.
Hence, they are working on another smear campaign to tell the world that China's economy is collapsing, which is farther from the truth. It's hilarious how the West is buying that agenda and spreading it. Perhaps, the evil BlackRock is also affected. That's why.

Look into news from people living in China and you will see these challenges are China's plans.
The real estate sector is the government plans to keep property prices affordable. Unlike the west, which has skyrocketed and many become homeless.
Slow recovery? China just became the biggest car exporters in the world. BRI and BRICS are growing.
The Americans are having to sanctions China on Huawei, Dji and even garlic to contain China.

The Shifting Landscape of Global Economic Power: A Tale of Two Titans and a Rising Star
The global economic dominance is undergoing a fascinating transformation, marked by the interplay of established powerhouses like the United States and China, and the meteoric rise of an economic contender - India.
The US: Holding onto the Reins, but Facing Internal Headwinds
While the United States remains a wealthy nation, its position as the sole major player in the global economic arena is teetering. China's earlier projections of eclipsing the US in the late 2020s were disrupted by post-pandemic economic woes. The nation grapples with internal challenges like:
Diminished confidence in future growth: Public skepticism casts a shadow on economic prospects.
Housing market tremors: The real estate sector faces significant hurdles, threatening stability.
Lingering COVID scars: The slow recovery from pandemic measures continues to hamper progress.
Demographic dilemmas: An aging population and declining birth rate pose long-term concerns.
These factors highlight the potential vulnerabilities underlying the US's economic standing. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the nation's enduring strengths:
Unmatched private sector dynamism: American innovation and investment in cutting-edge technologies like AI, robotics, and automation remain unparalleled.
Abundant natural resources: Low electricity and land costs contribute to a robust manufacturing base.
Yet, internal discord in the form of a divided political system and partisan gridlock poses a significant threat to future economic progress. To retain its top spot, the US must address these internal roadblocks and strategically utilize its inherent advantages.
China: A Colossus with Cracks, Yet Undeterred
Despite recent economic stumbles, China boasts formidable economic fundamentals, including:
The world's most sophisticated supply chain: China's logistical might provides a substantial economic advantage.
Global financial clout: Being the largest foreign direct investor, trading partner, and lender to numerous countries grants China immense economic influence.
However, China also faces its own set of hurdles:
COVID's lingering impact: The pandemic's continued effects and the nation's de-globalization policies create economic uncertainties.
Disparity in living standards: While China's consumer market holds immense potential, the significant gap between Chinese and American living standards remains a critical issue.
Demographic limitations: China's declining birth rate and aging population present long-term challenges to sustained economic growth.
Crackdown on the private sector: Recent policies towards private businesses raise concerns about stifling innovation and hindering economic dynamism.
Despite these challenges, China's potential to overtake the US as the world's largest economy by 2037 remains a distinct possibility. Its sheer size, combined with strategic resource allocation and continued technological advancements, could propel it to the top spot.
India: The Rising Star in the East
While the US and China battle for economic supremacy, India's ascension deserves attention. The nation has emerged as the fastest-growing economy among G20 members, propelled by:
Demographic dividend: India boasts a young population compared to other major Asian economies, creating a thriving workforce and consumer base.
Economic outperformance: India surpassed the UK in 2021 and continues to exhibit impressive economic growth.
However, India faces its own unique challenges:
Sustaining high growth: Matching China's consistent economic performance over the long term will be a crucial hurdle for India to overcome.
Heavy reliance on public sector: Unlike China's initial model, India's current trajectory of high dependence on government spending necessitates greater private sector involvement for sustained growth.
While surpassing the US as the world's largest economy might not be on the immediate horizon for India, projections suggest this could become a reality by the 2080s.
Beyond the Bilateral Battle: A Call for Global Cooperation
The shifting landscape of global economic power underscores the interconnectedness of the world. Amidst global challenges like the pandemic and the Ukraine war, international cooperation emerges as an essential element for collective prosperity.
Focusing on common global goods like the hydrological cycle and fostering collaborative solutions to shared challenges will be crucial in navigating the evolving economic landscape and ensuring a sustainable future for all nations.

It is the third wealthiest nation by total wealth value (20.651 trillion dollars). It has also made meteoric advancements in infrastructure, technology, manufacturing and exports. All nations are going to need nonstop improving Politically, infrastructure, social programs equility balancing, protections of peoples freedoms and beliefs etc... but i think the USA is definitely on strong footing and with freedom as our foundation the strenght in that alone will carry us into the future, one great thing about freedom among many others is a free mind innovates in hard times, innavates in good times and everwhere inbetween. That are in line with our individual talents. To meet the tech requirements of the future organically. Yes china has enormous potential. The people of china are talented and have so much to offer the world, but the system of governance is a huge drag on their potential. And too narrow to reach its full potential in competing in the future. You look at some of the worlds most important things of use today were accidentally created/discovered example penicillin etc... So having a narrow belief system where only the top gov officials are the only ones who have say on what is important and worth pursuing is naive to think that they will know everything and always be right. If a man has extreme telant in gaming creation , putting him on military rocket creation is just a waste of who that man really is. You dont know the possibilities of that mans gaming creations to other Accumulated Tech that could piggybacked off his free mind creations. Innovation is rarely a straightforward line. it's messy. It's spread out, and it needs room to breathe and room for failure. All the things that the ccp of china does not believe in. They are at a disadvantage on so many levels but definitely not from lack of talent, just lack of room to breathe life into that talent so it can create without persecution. Anyway, only my own thoughts. im just a man im not trying to change the world or anyone elses opinions or nothing like that. I hope we all are properous in the future without taking and hurting eachother in peace. God bless you all. 🙏

A free mind is the greatest asset any country in this world can tap. You look at most of the greatest world changing tech and ideas and inventions of today and threw history of the USA and you will see that the US has the largest share of those world changing ideas and inventions. And transformed into reality without fear of persecution. Allowing those ideas to change the world over and over. And your saying those free mind created ideas had nothing to do with the rise of the US. Ofcourse I over simplied there were many other reasons that also contributed like, resources, Geological placement etc....but most importantly was the people willing to fight for a ideal FREEDOM which without that ideal/constitution that all men are created equal etc.. there would have never been seperation from the British. And the US would have never existed. And the world you see today would not be what it is. The US enabled and created the system that has created the world's wealth like never seen before in world HISTORY. Freedom was and has always been the foundation of this country and the ideals that come with that change the world and are the reason why most of us will fight and die to protect and make better freely, not under threat to do as im told. Now don't take my Patriotism for being Naively blind, because I also know behind the seens. It's a lot different than what we see. But that's another conversation, right now We're talking about freedom in connection with the USA success.
And I respect your opinion but I think if you did do any research. And you're speaking on that research. I think you might have lacked some critical areas of understanding of why.
I said what I said. You could defend your ideals with using china as a defense but even in China they have freedoms which definitely help the country rise. No suppressive goverment that completely does not believe in freedom has never reached the lvl of succes like AMERICA in world history. Saying the USA success is not becuase of freedom but becuase of ????. Anyway I message back for entertainment purposes only. Not to change your opinions, believe as you want. I'm just curious why you think freedom was not important in the rise of the US. ?

The U.S. economy in 2023 outperformed expectations along three key dimensions: growing economic output, labor market resilience, and slowing inflation.
The U.S. economy expanded a whopping 4.9% in quarter-on-quarter annualized terms in Q3. This was more than double’s Q2’s rate and well above the pre-pandemic average. It was also particularly impressive in the international context: Most G7 economies are expected to have broadly stagnated in Q3.
Higher private consumption was the key driver, buoyed by falling inflation and a still-hot labor market-the economy created over 300,000 jobs in September, the second-largest increase so far this year. But the economy is no one-trick pony: The latest data also showed strong expansions in exports and government spending. Fixed investment-which had surged in the past two quarters as firms rushed to build factories following the passage of the CHIPS and Inflation Reduction Acts-lost steam but still expanded for the third straight quarter.
    We offer three key conclusions:
    # The United States has seen a particularly strong GDP recovery and is on track this year to reach the level that would have been predicted by the pre-pandemic trend.
#Global labor markets continue to strengthen, and the United States has been especially resilient.
#U.S. inflation has cooled sooner and more quickly than in other advanced economies.

Work is always essential to Economic Growth and we will remain large and strong as long as we work and grow and develop. America has all that it needs to grow to over a Billion people over time but I won't try to predict this type of growth. This seems intuitively realistic. But predicting the future is not a business I want to get involved with to be honest. And given the rise and fall of empires in world History... well, it is always very difficult to predict. Political hostility and strife, war, there seem to be too many variables to predict. But I'd like to believe our future looks bright today and will continue this way into the future. Like the Brits, America will muddle through its difficulties.

And the US is still a global benchmark in many ways. They have the strongest military, best space industry, best intelligence agencies, best software industry, best financial industry, near the top if not top in scientific research,2nd biggest in manufacturing . "Living standard in China is 1/3 of that in the US" 🙄B ch Please.
You're still using cash/coins; no high speed rail, dirty/old metro system (& only in a few cities); expensive as hell delivery fees, expensive contractor, handyman, or any labor; and a ridiculous tipping culture; high property tax (none in China); inflated grocery prices, and many more inconveniences. Plus you've got a huge population of homeless people, whereas in China it's practically nonexistent.
And in China, just the WeChat app on your phone alone allows you to pay & receive money, chat & make video calls, book hotels, flights, and high speed rail, schedule a doctor's appointment, buy groceries with free delivery, order take outs, make Instagram-like posts, pay insurance, and much more.
In the US you'd have to wait a week or more to see a doctor, whereas they can see all types of doctors on the same day, then maybe get an x-ray, get treated, and get pills all in one day. NO RIDICULOUS MEDICAL BILLS. And YOU'RE telling me living standards in the US is 3 times higher? PLEASE. Try living here yourself for a day and you'll see how rich these Asians are and how convenient their day-to-day is.

The American are not used to use public tranportation hence why there are no HSR and rapid expansion of subways and whatnot. There are more homeless people in China than in the US even compared to the population size. Also you still use coins and paper to pay for things. America is a lot more digitalized than China is. That btw is in absolute terms. The Chinese population is 4.2x larger than the US. The higher prices for food is because of different standards and regulations. There are literally videos of Chinese restaurants using dirty oil from trash to cook food. Oh and btw you still pay full price for your medical bills... There it goes your arguments. Btw if people in China were so well off why are they having such high rates of disposable income yet they have so little in actual money?

Will The U.S. Remain The World's Leading Economy? The key word is "Leading" which is not the same as biggest, number 1 in manufacturing etc. Leading mean it moves in a certain way with a well explain plan and the world follows. Then I am afraid it does not lead. The non-Western world is de-dollarising, which shows refusing US lead. Major models of its commercial jet liner are often grounded. China is using industrial robots at about 12 times that of the US. The various US tech sanctions are certain to add rocket-fuel to China's tech development. In China, about 45% of the population live in the rural areas, meaning there is still a lot of economic potential to be unlocked in urbanization. Also, Chinese save about 30% of their income. If the govt can unlock that, China will surge ahead. I don't think that most of these economists are taking the full range of factors into consideration. One thing to remember is that economists have been predicting China's collapse for decades. It has not happened yet, which may suggest that most economists don't know what they are talking about in respect to China. By PPP, China is already the size of Japan bigger than the US.
