I live about 150 feet from a Canadian National main line in western Wisconsin and the rumble of continuous frac sand trains puts me out like a baby in a cradle.
Thanks for the beautiful video. I especially loved seeing the riders and horses at 4:45:00 -- straight out of a Louis L'amour novel, though the rail equipment is about 100 years after Mr. L'amour's time.
Hello, I live in England and I am a big fan of USA trains there was some brilliant places to watch there would love to vist thanks for the great video 👍
Finally at last, someone found a beautiful ❤️ video that I can go to sleep, instead of hearing my 🐶 barking in our backyard and waking me up!! Awesome job on this video, and finally I can get some sleep, thank you very much and now I don't have to hear my dog barking at night!!
They still do from inside the cab! Most locomotives have AC now so engineers don't want any cold air to escape, justifiably so for hot desert scenes like these!
It's almost like you produce DVD's to youtube for how much footage of trains you catch good heavens, you sure are the longest recording railfan for solo videos that's for sure too bad youtube doesn't have an award for that like they do for the play button for popular youtubers LOL. Nice catches Zachary
Merci It took me more than the 5 hours to watch it. It's so nice ! I tried to locate, on google map all the sites you were for shooting your vid, I think I could locate most shooting places. A great thank for the GCRY mikado. In France a mikado is a 141 in the USA it's a 242, at the beginning it's quite disturbing, after a whike it's OK. The one thing I still do not completly understand is US railway siignalisation system. Do the engeener have signal information onboard ? Great vid, many thanks for sharing.
+Philippe Durand Here's an informative explanation on the US rail signals, I found it quite useful: www.alkrug.vcn.com/rrfacts/signals/signals.htm The 141 vs 2-8-2 is because in France we count axles vs in the US they count wheels, yet they both use the BB/CC system for diesels.
Just excellent videography. If Warren Buffet, owner of BNSF, needs promotional films of his railroad, he should hire you. Have you considered rail fanning in the Columbia Gorge (Northern Oregon, Southern Washington). There you'll find beautiful scenery with UP on one side of the Columbia River and BNSF on the other. Many have posted videos of this area but yours would be the best of them all! Thank you.
Hey Zachery , just a suggestion. Have you considered picking up the train as it approaches and follow it through as it passes ? Makes it a better presentation than just having the camera locked in one position. Just a thought.
12:07 Why do train engineers keep blowing the horn up to 50-60m PAST the grade crossing? Do they like that noise? My sister-in-law's father was a train engineer. Lost his hearing early.
I don't know why, but everytime I go to bed, the rumble of a double stack train helps me sleep. Great catches!!
Victoria Madison Me too! I live near a busy NS line and I can’t explain how calming it is when a train is going by!
Same here

Great father, great son, thanks ! God bless you both.
I have to say, as someone who has watched hundreds of railfan videos over the years your footage is by far and away my favorite
High Desert Railroading is my favorite. Thanks for this.
Amazing trains in some beautiful landscapes. So different from here in the UK. Very enjoyable watch.
Thank you so much!!

Absolutely brilliant, the shots of the long distance trains what range is that? Got to be 20 miles at most?
Awesome. Waiting for triple stacked freights LOL . . .

Wow! Each time the vídeos are longer ! Like!
Great catches Zach!!! This is a HECK of a long video! XD
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954.chris
They still do from inside the cab! Most locomotives have AC now so engineers don't want any cold air to escape, justifiably so for hot desert scenes like these!

Anyone notice NS with Amtrak?
Is it necessary to show the same train 3 or 4 times and wait several min's. to see it in between.????
Merci
