This is really striking. While I understand African Americans and the Diaspora plot, I do not understand why African brothers and sisters were unaware of their history.
When they are right here in the Africa continent, how can that be? After the 79 years of decolonization.
As a result, Europeans divided, conquered, and miseducated the same way US did African Americans.
It was all by design... thanks to Zeinab and the Africancentric movement for helping us trying to remember who we are.
A century ago, when African and African American culture dominated the US and started influencing the world, I knew something was amiss.
This goes back to Jesse Owens' four gold medals at the Berlin Olympics.
People like us could not accomplish special things if they lacked any history.
When I discovered that the ancient Egyptians were also black indigenous Africans who built the pyramids and temples, I discovered the 25th Kingdom of Kush Dynasty was ruled by black pharaohs.

Why is it when it comes to greta programs about Africa it's so hard to get access. I can't even buy a DVD for this series and BBC isn't airing episodes anymore. Even on cable BBC isn't showing this series. Why? Why is there so little accessibility?

TRUTHTEACHER2007 Great question, I’m here to tell you that UNESCO & The world educational association are responsible for not putting for such information.

I've scoured the web, tried to buy the DVD, contacted BBC, and even reached out to my local University's (a major one) African history department. No one can find a way to view/show this! It's so frustrating!
If anyone finds a way to gain access to this full documentary, I would really appreciate you sharing. I am a history teacher and have so few resources to teach my students about Africa with. And most of the ones I have are very Euro-centric. :(

The problem I have with this is the promotion of Evolution. Mankind has always had portion of people from all tribes, countries and nations (or Kingdoms) with intelligent. Wars, conflicts, famines, droughts, natural disasters, or persecutions that caused many to migrate to different parts of the world.
We see this with every tribe or peoples when one looks at Europe, North Africa, Egypt, China, Australia, South and North America and other. At those times, those that migrated, often taking very little of what their History was (or possessions) with them and "assimilating" in other places, and countries and its people, soon forget their History. For example, we can look at Pompeii, with the devastating volcanic eruption, and Israel, Egypt, that only recently are being excavated. Many historical writing have been destroyed. So one has to try and peace together the History of the past. One also has Historians in past centuries alter historical facts to build up their own narrative. So one cannot always say it is factual or not as there is not always enough evidence to prove it. As they say "The victor often writes the story", often having destroyed the writings of those they have conquered. Even with some evidence that is found regarding ancient historical figures they can exaggerate history, to bolster the Leader of that country or nation or Empire. We also see a lack of writings of how people were treated, by their Leaders, Kings, or Emperors so as not to tarnish their reputation or status etc. One has to be careful not to add what is not true or diminish what is true.

There is a strong something I noticed. While reading topics, about automation for example, it may refer that it has started in our area. When I change the language of Wikipedia to my language I may find no data. Even the written is so much less than the English version. My children does not know about the countries in our area neither where they are on the map. There is so much shortage in knowledge. I hope the students study the history of all areas on the earth instead of repeating the same topics in all stages.

the colonisation of information will cripple this whole project. if you are in the middle of a racist country as france, there is no way you will have the freedom to think outside the box if your mind goes back in the box to get the language, tools and philosophies to define yourself. so sad. africa next time in the new world you will have the chance to think and speak
