The History of Africa | The Gift of the Nile | Zeinab Badawi

This week on The History of Africa, my quest to uncover more about Africa's rich story takes me to Egypt, where I explore the most famous civilisation in Africa - the ancient Egyptians. I go beyond the usual analysis of the pharaohs and ask, who were the ancient Egyptians? What was their ethnicity? What made such a great civilisation possible? How did they order their society, and what were the...

    This is really striking. While I understand African Americans and the Diaspora plot, I do not understand why African brothers and sisters were unaware of their history. When they are right here in the Africa continent, how can that be? After the 79 years of decolonization. As a result, Europeans divided, conquered, and miseducated the same way US did African Americans. It was all by design... thanks to Zeinab and the Africancentric movement for helping us trying to remember who we are. A century ago, when African and African American culture dominated the US and started influencing the world, I knew something was amiss. This goes back to Jesse Owens' four gold medals at the Berlin Olympics. People like us could not accomplish special things if they lacked any history. When I discovered that the ancient Egyptians were also black indigenous Africans who built the pyramids and temples, I discovered the 25th Kingdom of Kush Dynasty was ruled by black pharaohs.

    Zeinab Badawi I stumbled upon your broadcast about three months ago and I love it. I had been wondering why we/us as Brown people, hardly ever see anyone like us telling our history. It’s so profound hearing you. Keep bringing us our history & may God bless & keep you, your cameramen, our people etc. safe out there.

    There is a strong something I noticed. While reading topics, about automation for example, it may refer that it has started in our area. When I change the language of Wikipedia to my language I may find no data. Even the written is so much less than the English version. My children does not know about the countries in our area neither where they are on the map. There is so much shortage in knowledge. I hope the students study the history of all areas on the earth instead of repeating the same topics in all stages.

    Great series, I love how she connects with the people on her travels. Can’t help wondering though, why she wears the same clothes all the time. I find that rather odd!

    • @macsam8778
      @macsam8778 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I, too wondered about the clothes as well. But, she talked about that in another interview and she had a reason for that , it makes sense. I saw myself as looking for something negative to say about someone, I have gotten to respect for their work and brought knowledge to my life and I chose to leave my curious or negative thought, were it was, in my mind. But, thank you for sharing yours, each day we learn and grow as a result...you are cool!

    This is also important for all cultures besides african culture, not all "paleskined" people agree on the history they have been tought. Exellent contributon on the world history, all humans have their origin derieved from Africa. I have pale skin but I think african history belongs to me too because all human kind can be traced back to Africa, and I certenly don't support slavory or old truth about human value.

    African history has been a big lie for years, and the history of this country that has been taught, was taught by caucasians, wow!. Thank God for this program and project, I hope that we could get something like this going here in Alabama, we need to learn the real truth about us and not what scholastic books tell us. We ALL have been puppets ever since we been here and deprogrammed.

    Thanks you Zeinab Badawi for bringing this series to the world.As a African American I appreciate and value this new knowledge of our history.In the words of Wangari Maathai,you cannot enslave a mind that knows itself,That values itself.That understands itself.That is why I believe we were robbed of our own history in Africa to assume theirs.
