Kim you don't give yourself enough credit TH-camrs are just people who have people skills and clearly you have them in spades! Feel free to come back and add in anytime!
I just saw this video and wanted to share a story with everyone on egg eaters. We got an egg eating pair a few years ago. We did our research and knew we only had button quail eggs available around here, so we asked the seller (who I will not name, they were a popular online reptile retailer) to only give us a male and female pair who had both been on button quails or bigger. I emailed and called twice to confirm, and they said the boy was a little smaller but he could manage on buttons. Long story short, this wasn't true. He could not eat anything bigger than a finch egg. We struggled for a year to find a reliable finch egg supplier, but our guy could never sell us more than 6 every few months and that wasn't enough. In between, we had to tube feed - which of course Jonathan (the boy snake) hated and so did we. He would thrash his little tail around and it was difficult to even find a small enough tube for his little throat. After a year of him not getting any bigger and thus still not eating button quail eggs, we knew we couldn't give him a good enough life with us. So we reached out to Snake Discovery and they were kind enough to take them both in. I'm not sure if Mina was the one to lay this clutch, or if her name has been changed since then, but they helped us out during a really bad situation and I will be forever grateful. Mina laid a huge clutch shortly before I sent her and I didn't catch it in time, so they all deflated. So I'm so glad she's somewhere that if she lays another clutch they'll get to grow up there. If you're still reading, here's why I'm writing this: if you want to get an egg eating snake and you can't get one from Ed and Emily who are trustworthy, NEVER trust the snake will be large enough to eat larger eggs. The vast majority of these snakes are wild caught, and they take them at all different stages of life. Also, the males are significantly smaller than the females. So my advice would be only get one if you have access to finch or canary eggs, and request a female instead of a male. You could also just get a pair of finches and make sure they are laying BEFORE getting the snake(s), as they require a couple of eggs a week in my experience. This was our plan down the road when we were ready to breed them, but we couldn't find a laying pair for sale right away in our area. Thank you for reading, egg eaters make the best pet snakes I've ever owned if you can find their preferred food! 🙂
Such a shane it's so difficult to find them food because they would be perfect pet sbakes otherwise as I can't stand feeding mice to snakes, it's so nasty and I feel bad for the mice. If you get finnes you really need to know how to care for them though before getting tge snakes or have another sure suplier. Sorry you where scammed that they could eat bigger eggs
I was so shocked that the moldy egged hatched at all and it was actually the first one to hatch and all on his own too...what a strong little man. So glad all three made it super cute. Always love a surprise clutch!
For finch eggs - if you have a local aviary or other tropical greenhouse with birds (like butterfly conservatory), they may be a source. I worked at a butterfly conservatory and we were overrun with too many breeding finches, and probably would have sold some of the eggs for reptile food!

Thank you for this video! I also work with dasypeltis gansi, and have 7 of them myself and some eggs in the incubator. I’ve sold some babies in the past but I agree it’s a lot mire work to vet the buyers because of their strict egg size requirements. It’s the only species I’m breeding though. Thank you for pointing out the myth some shady sellers are selling about cracked eggs in dishes! It’s disheartening to see so many people get a baby thinking they can scramble a chicken egg for it, only to have the poor thing starve to death. It seems to come up a lot and is a real issue.
As a side note I’m pretty sure I know your finch egg supplier hahaha. I got a ton of eggs from her myself when I was raising my first clutch. Finch eggs are so hard to come by sometimes! I have my own finches and button quail now for this reason. I hold onto the babies until they have eaten a couple of button quail eggs, because at that point they are much more established and hardy, and it’s also much easier for the new owners to find enough food. (Hatching eggs for button quail are readily available on Ebay etc.)
Despite not being a TH-camr, I appreciate her taking the initiative to film the process in Ed and Emily's absence. She didn't have to, but she put herself out there, and it wasn't half bad. The doodles were great, too.
Kim Was Here hatched! That’s really cool. …do you have any idea why almost all of one clutch and all of the second molded? Is it to do with the environment they were laid in?
As Emily said in the video egg eaters live in very dry places and if I had to guess there was just too much humidity in the perlite which caused to the eggs to mold
i am not in a place in my life where i can have pets or even pet snakes for various reasons, mostly due to time and space.. so to get my cuteness fix, this channel has been super helpful and has helped me through quarantine. first feeding of the noodles are my all time favorite cuteness overload
I love how snake discovery makes sure the homes their reptiles and pets are going to will be good homes, too often people just jump into a pet and sometimes willfully mistreat them just because they refuse to not believe what they were told before

So glad to see the 3rd baby make it! They are hella adorable and cute lil babies!
If you print your hides using ABS plastic, they will be more finicky to make, but you can fume them with acetone before you use them and get a glass smooth finish, which will make washing much easier and you don't need to apply epoxy!
I seriously love Kims part! She captures the amazement and curiousity us viewers have!
Ohhhh no way! I love egg eaters, can't wait to see them hatched!
Ed:
"I'll grab tweezers..... *almost entranced sounding* Tweeeeeeezers"
Kim is pretty fearless and knowledgeable for having never touched snake eggs before!! Such great "Emily style" footage!!
I guess she watches Snake Discovery!
Kim worked at a planetarium? I am pretty jealous. I LOOOOVE the planetarium. And Kim? You're awesome!
Omg I wasn't expecting these AHHHH! So happy you guys could produce these! ❤️
Hi I have Nothing to do lol wana talk?
Ophelia the egg eater. What an adorable name for a snake 🥰 ....that's so neat the make a hissing sound by rubbing their skin :) kinda reminds me of how some tarantulas "hiss" by rubbing their chelicerea together. Neat.
That means we’re not the only ones extremely happy with the zoo🥰
dry
The last baby placed in the bin was my favorite, 🤣🤣 it was just like "Hooman holding me, this fine" compared to its siblings whom wanted to be vicious 🤣🤣🤣.
These babies are so cute! Can't wait to watch as they grow. Hopefully they all find good families soon. 💙🐍
So glad you guys got the hides and are finding them useful😆
Kim’s filming was really good. They are cute. Glad the third one made it.
She did phenomenal. It must feel great to have employees who truly love what they do and love the place so much.
A baby from a moldy egg, first time I've seen that, congrats to you both!
It’s happened a couple times on the channel but it’s surprising none the less
@@confuzedgraphite Yeah I think I remember, but this one was super moldy compared to others. Unless they had a fully rotten egg in worse shape than this one have a live baby come out?
@@Songal18 they did say egg eater snakes eggs are unique, so maybe the really moldy looking egg wasn't moldy it just how it looks to be less appetizing.
@@TheVoidedRealm That would be a good way to deter predators in the wild if it looks unappetizing.
@@Songal18 if I was something that ate snake eggs. I would look at that let alone smell it and go nah and eat it's siblings since they looked better. Just because I would be unsure if that is a good egg or not.
I watched this video with my egg eater and we were excited to see the new babies! I also learned some things for when I get more snakes and start to breed in the future.
I can't believe my snake used to be that small- so cute!
As someone who does 3D printing for aquariums and chickens and other animals the trick is to seal them with a clear coat. Then no water is absorbed and no bacteria or mold. Happy baby snakes! Very cool!
Acetone etching could also work
The one that Kim wrote " Kim was here" had mold but still hatched, POWER OF KIMMMM
Thanks Kim for doing such a great job a filming for us!! I loved seeing it, that's something cool for when Ed and Emily are out of town or just too busy to film, the employees can do these kind of videos (if they feel comfortable doing so, and it can be done just like that, no faces, if they are more inclined to)
1:47 snake: bites Emily Emily: Oop both wEeElLl
I guess the solid baby was the baby that felt stiff! I was so worried about their yellow tinted goop, it's so wonderful that they made it!
your the reason I love snakes! you take such good care of them!
When I saw the title I thought it was about that hognose (I think?) who ate a bunch of her eggs some years ago. I'd forgotten you also had actual egg-eating snakes
What do you call an angry (snek) noodle?
Upsetti spaghetti!
Instant smile on my face when I get a notification from this channel 🤩
Me to
@@mybrainisbrokenithink6751 i may or may not have a severe problem... i constantly check my youtube notifications on tuesday/friday. 30 times a second it feels like! lol
Kim:"So, I think that's it for our egg-eating snake eggs! Hehe say that 5× fast!"😂😂😂 I stuttered like five times trying that!😂😂 We love you, Kim!❤❤❤
Actually I could not tell that Kim wasn't a tuber! She did a great job.
And I adore it when the plot twist is that the baby snake lives!
I'm so excited for baby season! I usually hate the end of winter because it's getting hot again but it's worth it to see the little snakes
I just love the sassy baby
Petition for Kim (and other employees) to do more videos!
Despite not being a TH-camr, I appreciate her taking the initiative to film the process in Ed and Emily's absence. She didn't have to, but she put herself out there, and it wasn't half bad. The doodles were great, too.
woooo! i’ve been so excited for egg hatching season!! guess it’s starting👀
They are all so adorable little egg eaters. I like how they don’t get too big when they’re adults. They’re such cute little sassy-pantses.
I really enjoyed getting to see Kim’s footage! I’d love to see more of the employees if they’re ok with it of course! They seem like cool people
i am not in a place in my life where i can have pets or even pet snakes for various reasons, mostly due to time and space.. so to get my cuteness fix, this channel has been super helpful and has helped me through quarantine. first feeding of the noodles are my all time favorite cuteness overload
I just bought my first snake a couple weeks ago. It's a baby caramel corn snake and I named it Harold Crick. He's the sweetest and so cute
Ooh egg eaters are my favorites!! I have a captive bred bazi baby and she’s such a sweetheart, also I think we buy finch eggs from the same person lol
at 0:54 she says they are scaterd everywhere, and it reminded me of easter
Yaaaaay I remember a video saying that they (egg eaters) are mostly wild caught and now you have Babiessssssssss
This is my favorite channel EVER!!!!
OMG i was about to sleep!!!
Happy egg hatching day!!
I’m surprised you guys don’t have finches to sell the eggs. That would be a great idea!
I clicked faster than I could read when I saw the words, “Snake Discovery.”
Me too lol
Me too!!
Me too
I love how snake discovery makes sure the homes their reptiles and pets are going to will be good homes, too often people just jump into a pet and sometimes willfully mistreat them just because they refuse to not believe what they were told before
