Mecha, you forgot to mention how the arms can fold up into the shoulders for the transport mode. That's why some parts were made hollow. Duh.

I've always wanted to see this kit bashed with another IBO kit. The Hashmal always felt more like an incomplete giant mobile suit than a mobile armor, to me at least. Feels like it needs legs and waist armor.

As it relates to Hashmal itself I've seen a few custom designs/kits of it, though my favorite has to be artwork that reminds me of Strelizia.
Maybe the Calamity war mobile armors were combiners! Maybe there's the bottom half buried out there somewhere.
4:43 you’re not wrong, the Hashmal is 35.2 meters, so in kit form it *should* be bigger, or maybe it’s the stand, yeah the stand.
Yea I went back to the anime and hashmal should be atleast twice the size of barbatos. What a disappointment
I think the hashmal may be out of scale because they may not want to repeat what happened with the kshatriya, should still have gone bigger imo
@@alexisrodriguez6526 what’s up with kshatriya? I own it and I know the articulation isn’t the best and he’s kinda hard to balance with the wings in some poses but it’s otherwise a pretty decent kit for one of my all time fave mobile suits
It has to be at least bigger than the Xi, since the Xi gundam is only 26m tall
@@K7TZ I also went back to the anime and I actually don't think the size is that off. A lot of Hashmal's size in the anime seems to come from it standing up on its claws, giving it a lot more height. When Barbatos is standing on Hashmal's main body the sizes seem similar enough to the models, with Barbatos being about as tall as Hashmal's shoulders are long.
I'm pretty sure bandai pulled some bullshit with the size of this thing, gaikotsu mentioned how it looked quite a bit bigger in the anime, but at the same time I feel like the plumas were waaay smaller
The Plumas were huge, half a IBO MS in length, but Hashmal is indeed smaller than in the Anime, not much, but noticeable.
The epicness of the battle that involves this beast makes the kit insta-worthy.

I wish the Hashanah was larger or it came with a smaller barbatos lupus. As in universe its much larger. A whopping 35 something meters long and fairly tall. A MG hashmal would fit the HG barbatos lupus better
It may look small...but that's accurate size....barbs (lupus) is 21.8 meters while Hashmal is 35.3 meters....in numbers its big....but in terms of look it's kinda of small....
I'm starting to think they meant 35m shoulder tip to shoulder tip...
@@MechaGaikotsu that would make a lot of sense. J guess posing it is the ultimate way to practice film and photography techniques with positioning and shadows to make the hashmal seem that much larger.

It is too small as we see a reganlaze sit horse back style between the two parts of the head as well as the head being bigger than the Helmwige-reincar's sword
This and the HG Barbatos Lupus makes me want to get a Helwige Reincar

The kit is totally worth it! It's such a great design it makes me want to see it in the hands of a good pilot! I assume it has to be on the same level as the grimgerde which took on a gundam.

I tried to start a build channel but realized the build is an integral part of the experience, so I needed to squeeze it in there somewhere. That and a lot of the best gunpla content right now is based entirely around the build.

I was going to rewatch it on Netflix a couple of weeks ago but the quality on there sucked Couldn't have even been 1080.
But it did remind me that I missed this kit AND the Geirail.
@@MechaGaikotsu Oh that's weird. I watched it on Netflix and actually thought to myself how good it looked 😂 Each episode did take about 20 seconds for the quality to catch up to HD though, so there may be server issues on their end 🤷♂️
According to the wiki, hashmal is merely a class. There is about 10 classes of mobile armors, that being Chariot, Orphan, Ereli, Hashmal, Seraph, Malak, Eloh, Beneloh, Cherub and Ishi.
They only explained about the chariot and orphan class mobile armor, that being the commander or leader, and second in command respectively.(oh, and hashmal beimg a ground-only unit and having a beam weapon. These might be one of the hashmal's main characteristics that differs it from the others)
The following descriptions of mine for these classes are just presumptions
We'll start off with the most easiest of the bunch, the ishi class. Says in wikipedia that these angels(also known as ishims in judaism) are barely within reach of human knowledge. We can presume that these types of mobile armour are almost identical to the proportions of that of a human. And in short, humanoid. This class is quite special as this humanoid-like ma can be adaptive to their surroundings and resourceful, able to use handheld weaponaries. Only downside is that their movements might be predictable and as limited to that of a mobile suit.
Characteristics of the cherub class might be that their body are the smallest of these 10 classes. Also said in wiki that they're throne bearers of the deity, we could say that they're transport units. Able to drop off more dangerous ma or plunas then retreating to regroup more reinforcements might be these lil' bastards' jobs.
Eloh means god while beneloh means arch-angel. As my only simple logic of 'god creates all beings' , yea, these classes will be the engineer types or medic type, repairing damages or making new plumas or more supplies. The beneloh classes will be the defenders of these eloh class ma.
Malakhim's whole role according to wiki is to rid daemons from our world. So, you make them specialised only for space as in doom eternal, demons comes from damn Mars or something.
Seraph class mobile armors are the main and most common ma to be seen, as in wiki, seraphims will remind humanity that god is holy. Or what better way for humanity to remember ancient machines of death, pure destruction. Send in artillery strikes, folks!
Erelim will report to god from afar on what tf is going on in the human world. They will be the recon types, collecting information and providing their findings to the chariot class ma[and in ibo fandom, there's only 1 chariot class ma, that Agnika Kaeru(a.k.a, bael) defeated]. You can also make them sniper types.

Every time I see the Hashmal, I can't help but be amazed. But in the back of my mind I was like "if it weren't for that idiot Iok, we might have never seen this magnificence", and I'm torn if I should appreciate it or not

I loved the Hashmal in IBO and got my local anime store to get me the kit when it came out, and I'm pretty happy with it.
The jiggling on the stand always make me nervous, though.
I want to turn those large wings into wing binders like on the Qubeley.
Today I found out you can panel line when it's still on the runner.
This was actually one of the first hg kits that I built. I loved the idea of the inhuman shape, and general heck this thing gave Barbatos Lupus.

Thats the thing that missing in season 2..my fav thing about season 1 is the tekkadan always scavenging the part that left in the battlefield..they rarely do that in season 2

No kidding! The Hashmal is the perfect allegory for war in the context of Gundam. It was created by God-knows-who for reasons no one remembers in an era long gone. Its very existence shaped the way combat was fought right up until the present day (i.e. beam-proof mobile suit armor causing combat to rely on melee and ballistic weaponry). It was sitting around dormant and forgotten until some glory-hungry idiot woke it up. It consumes resources from all around it to turn into more warriors. It kills indiscriminately and won't stop until there's no one left to kill. And the only way to beat it is to cooperate with your mortal enemies... and to give up a little bit of yourself.
I just finished IBO and this is right on time where i can savor the hype on the kits XD
Definitely worth it. You want to buy the Pluma extension pack as well for the complete unit. The Plumas are a little big though.
I've see some part of this MS was taken to upgrade the Barbatos lupus to rex the Tail blade,legs and other parts
It's been 5 years?! Damn feels like yesterday. First year highschool when iron blooded orphans was released. The first one i bought was the schwalbe graze. And now, I'm in College! Can't even buy kits anymore. Maybe when i graduate and find a job I'll start building again.
The only machine in IBO series that has beam weapon equipped.

6:06 The shoulders are hollow because the legs fold up and are stored in the shoulders when in long distance transport mode.
You should've covered this in the review. The instructions absolutely pointed out the transformation segment where the legs fold up and store inside those shoulders.

My one big gripe with this kit is that they give you only one pluma kit. For it's price, they could have at least thrown in at least another one. Or they could have just made that pluma set a regular release like all the option parts and not a p-bandai one. That really took away the awesomeness that this kit would have had out of the box.

Fun fact in the frame of the hashmal near its neck, there is a molded power symbol in there the same as the symbols in Barbatos' 4th form shoulders and knees.

I think the sword (and some accessories on the Option Sets) are from the Manga version of IBO or some of the videogames from Gundam Extreme.
I do think it should be a bit bigger because the Helmwige Reincar's buster sword was as big as Hashmal's body. (the scene before Mikazuki finished it with a stab)
I also wish there was a way to attach the pluma to Hashmal, since Hashmal makes them.

I got this kit a few weeks ago and today just now actually the elbow snapped and the other elbow is cracked after looking at the other elbow I found out the joint for it isn’t a whole circle whereas the lower arm is which causes the stress to the joint and snaps it

Hey Mecha Gaikotsu have been looking to buy my next gundam, and was thinking of getting a master grade this would be my first MG so any suggestions?
Went back to see the size of the hashmal as it was definitely bigger looking in the anime, and where the barbatos lupus is 19 meters the hashmal is 35.2 meters, under twice the height of the barbatos. Honestly I think they messed up on the measurements cause the hashmal looked to be at least maybe 45 meters or so as it looked more than twice the size of of a mobile suit in the ibo universe.

Well the Lupus Rex's tail was scavanged from Hasmal's, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Tekkaden scavanged other parts of the thing for raw materials in order to repair Barbatos and their other suits. So I supose one could argue that is a thing.
Actually, I think I saw one of those online shortly after the episode of the fight first aired.

I guess a properly scaled 1/144 would've been way too cost prohibitive for the fans. Anybody remember the HGUC GP03D Denobrium? That behemoth was perfectly compatible with the HGUC Gundam GP03S, and it was crazy expensive...like high MG to low PG expensive. For a *High Grade*. 😒😒😒
