    You are 100% right. I had 4 hair transplants back in the early eighties and it was a disaster.Im 71 and all rest of my hair is gone so my scars(awful circular ones) are all exposed in the back of my head.No hair on top, even the transplants are thinned out.I have been forced to wear wigs for last 25 years since without it I look like a freak.If I could get rid of scars I would shave my head but no one has come up with anything except tattoo of whole back of my head which is gross.Mc Conaughey wears a wig as do most Hollywood stars.Wigs today look good but are just a pain to deal with. No one with a wig should ever allow it to be glued to your head so you have to sleep with it. I use tape and take off wig when Im home.They can last over 6 years but if you sleep in it and wash it while its on your head its a nightmare and you need a new one every 3 months.

    What seems odd though, if this is a consistent match of just under a 20 year period, it looks as though his hair loss has not progressed at all. Either by medication of who knows maybe luck. For such a tiny amount of loss as it were, its in his interest to actually get a transplant to fill in that gap. Well, I think it would be better by this stage to do so.

    You have to pay attention to the acting roles chosen and you can link the transplant surgeries. I will say you are wrong. Matthew had a transplant right after the film Reign of Fire because he had a shaved head for the character. Just like Matt Damon had a transplant after Alysium when he shaved his head. The list goes on and on matching actors to their roles. If you're an actor it's smart to have a role where you shave your head so it's not so obvious that you're doing a surgery and right after you can have the surgery and let the hair grow in over months before your next project. Edward Norton did the same thing after American History X. Pay attention to the movie roles they do before they get the surgery it's a "tell". If the guy in this video I actually did a little more research he would have figured that one out.

      I've been in this field for 17 years and I've dealt with actors, and yes I mean real actors, many times. I've also dealt with directors, producers and even make up artists. • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShaunORourke And that is what I was waiting for. FUE did not exist in 1998, the year that American History X was released, except for the work of Dr. Woods in Australia. I guarantee that Ed Norton has not had FUE with Dr. Woods. Reign of Fire was released in 2002. There were four doctors performing FUE at that time, most of which were not doing natural looking work. I know each of them. Elysium was released in 2010, so FUE had been around for several years by then, but your assumption that Matt Damon had FUE simply because of a movie role is unfounded, speculative at best and unrelated. I'm not saying he has not had surgery but I am saying that your evidence is unrelated. Therefore, you're wrong.

    This might sound dumb, but maybe he shaved the temporal area in the 1999 picture? He was undoubtedly balding, but maybe he didn’t want that thinning to show and decided to cut it off to have a more cleaner hairline. That’s what I did with my hairline before I hopped on Fin and it started growing back again.

      How has it been being on finasteride for 18 years ? (wow) Hasn't it fucked your hormones/mental health ? I don't think I can risk taking it because of side effects...I read that it can even cause high grade prostate cancer...There are many successful hair transplants, no idea what you're talking about...Maybe the ones you've seen are bad because there was not enough donor hairs and the balding area was way too big to be covered . McConaughey and Jude Law have frontal hair loss only so they are excellent candidates for a successful transplant. They are almost 50 so the shedding is slowing down anyway...

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MyName IsRamen well finasteride is a med against enlarged prostata so it would I guess in that lower the cancer risk. How it would affect your mental health I don’t understand. Only thing is yes it lower my libido a bit. For me starting to take it when I was 25 was almost good I was horny as hell all the time and it cut the top of it in a calming way. No erection problem whatsoever. And yes it reduced/thinned my seamen a bit. That’s about it for me.
      Is shedding slowing down when you hit 50? Did not know that. Though it the opposite as I thought that a lot of people that had full set of hair would start to loose it more in general when getting older?

    • @thanostsarbos1197
      @thanostsarbos1197 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is from wikipedia: "while 5-ARIs (finasteride) decrease the overall risk of developing prostate cancer, they have been found to increase the risk of developing certain rare but high-grade forms of prostate cancer"
      I mentioned mental health because I also read that it can increase the risk of depression (maybe associated with the libido/penis side effects). I assume that because McConaughey's and Law's hair loss has apparently only affected their hairline, it will slow down because after 50 testosterone and DHT are lowered by a lot. You are lucky you have minimal side effects from finasteride...I was adviced againest it from two dermatologists but I'm still not sure..

    • @oblomovhans1659
      @oblomovhans1659 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stefan and Ramen, hairloss slowing down in mature age? You're both half right, I think, as there's as usual with hair loss, no clear cut one size fits all answer if we only include as few factors as testosterone and Dht, as it's clear that some people starting around 40 or even sooner, in many cases slow down around 50 or with age in general, while other start thinning more significantly. Woody Allen is a poster case, receded sort of NW4 with advanced crown balding yet minor forelock thinning by his mid 30 then he advanced very little by his 40 and by now his forelock is the same just a bit more island like by with no further thinning overall, you get the idea :). Others either started receding not badly in their 60's, others thinned significantly after their 50's 60's with little to no problems before.
      That's what leaves me perplexed of the purely hormonal/genetic theory, it only explains cases of people balding not later than their 20's, where the T is at its highest, but it doesn't make sense that one had great hair before their mid 40 and then starts receding - thinning badly, as their T is not at the peak then. Bottom line, hairloss seems very case by case and has to be tackled by many angles, many of them, I hypothize, seem overlooked by the official theories, which is not to promote snake oil sellers or claim they are therefore better, mind it, far from it ^_^. One of the things is Dht sensitivity might increase with age for some people, but that's just one of the possible factors, I'm curious if we test and confront them, (with their consent :D), with people who have slowed down of freezed with age.
      That's why it's possible that by chance, what MMC has used worked well for his case, reverting his thinning and partly his recession.

    I don't care if actors wear wigs for films. Wearing the wig outside of films and pretending they're not bald is where it becomes a problem, like when they lie about steroid use. BUT, with that being said, no woman should ever talk crap about men wearing wigs because women are faking everything these days. Sorry, but that crap really annoys me.
    And yeah, they gotta wear wigs in films. Can you imagine how many characters would be bald if the actors weren't faking it? Bald is boring. Hair is decorative and has character..as crazy as that sounds. It can add so much to a character.
    Maybe Matt wears a wig, but look at Elon and his miraculous hair growth. I've seen that guy out in the wind and his hair was blowing all over the place. That was no wig. Maybe some found something that worked for them and gave them their hair back..only time will tell..because it won't last forever.

    The "clue" was the brith of his first child, many/most men stop taking finasteride/dutesteride for more than a year before having a child, so during that time his hair line returned to it's pre-finasteride state, ie: he lost all the progress he had made once he came off Fin, he was most likely off Fin for a year before his wife got pregnant, and the for the following 9 months during her pregnancy. during that time off Fin not only did he lose his gains but his hairloss progressed, hence why he could not get back his former gains once he started back on Finasteride after the birth of his child.
    Finasteride is a LIFETIME commitment, once you come off the pill your hairloss will continue to progress, so you cannot "stop / start / stop / start" with finasteride and hope to maintain your hairline/density.

Since your hairloss started at such a young age, you started out with a very weak position on a young age, but now gradually and with aging, you become and will become to be one of the few men who still has hair when you get older, since around you and on average men your age will become more and more bald. Joe- He does not wear a rug and even if he did it's not just for special occasions. His hair looks great 24/7 now all over his social media. In my opinion he has gotten those men's hair extension things, not sure of the name. Basically it's when they attach/braid on fake hair (of the same color) to your bio hair and it stays on long term until they start falling off and then you go back to get it redone. The 2017 photo you showed may have been during a phase right before he needed to get it redone again. That being said to maintain his bio hair I'm sure he's been on Propecia for a long time. And yes he definitely lied on Kelly Ripa. Sad.

    There's no question that he has had a hair transplant at some point, or his photo's has been photoshopped. Pictures from 1999 clearly shows that he has bald spots. There is no hair growing out of it. I have seen newer pictures of him where he has his hair straight up, or straight back which can't cover any side bald spots, but still there's no balds spots. The hairline is straight-ish, and you can clearly see that his hair is growing out of the bald spots he had in 1999, and not just a hairstyle that is covering a bald spot. You don't have to be a genius to see the difference between hair growth from a "bald spot" vs cover a "bald spot" with hair.
    100% that he has had hair transplant at some point, but if he now got the bald spots back, maybe the new hair is falling out too, but you can't deny some of the pictures where you can clearly see that his hair is actually growing from the bald spots, and not just a "cover" hairstyle. It 100% possible that he had a hair transplant, and then lost the "new" hairs.

    • @seanrobinsonjr4363
      @seanrobinsonjr4363 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Example: Here's a picture of him with his hair straight up. With a hairstyle like this, you can't cover the bald spots. You can clearly see that his hair is actually growing on the "bald spots". Same bald spots that had *no hair* in 1999. Don't tell me it's the hairstyle, or that he has covered the bald spots. Clearly it's hair growing out of it.

      Did you get my last email? First, no one can say where Antonio went or what is really going on so whatever you heard is speculation, but of course I do know the truth which I cannot and will not confirm. Second, it is very conceivable to think that MM did in fact have surgery but it goes to show just how much of a deception this issue really is. I've spoken to some celebrities that wanted a hair transplant even though they had COMPLETELY full heads of hair. After I educated them on the reality of what a hair transplant can and cannot do they shared that even they are sometimes required to use concealers because, essentially, Hollywood doesn't like visible scalp on their heroes.

I'm not even sure he said he had a hair transplant at all. It was a TV show, not radio, and he was being teased about his wig and he said go to Canada with 10,000 dollars and you can get one too.. Also, the only photo of him in Vancouver is not in front of the office of H&W. It is near Granville Island next to the waterfront. So you can guess, but you can't confirm.

    • @hairtransplantchannel
      @hairtransplantchannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I'm glad my videos are useful to you. You need to understand that rumors like this one, while fun to talk about, don't really help anyone because unless you really know as an actual fact then it doesn't matter. Celebrities make some stupid decisions, just like everyone else does, so to be concerned where a celebrity went for their hair transplant, if they even had one, shouldn't be a guide for your own research and surgical decisions. If Conte had a hair transplant, you really can't tell the quality because you never see his hairline. You only see a mop of hair, which is obviously a huge improvement and would indicate healthy growth, but there is nothing he has on his head that thousands of other patients cannot achieve from other clinics.

  • @Smile71717
    @Smile71717 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Joe, thank you for your video. I know you don't want to say the names, but in general are there any celebrities that really have had hair transplants that are really good and indistinguishable from real hair so basically people around don't really notice they have a transplant?
    It somewhat bothers me because, well, I have hair loss, but I'm working on becoming a public figure, and I don't want to be a bald public figure, I'm still kinda young, so I'm thinking of having a transplant before people know me. But I wouldn't want it to be noticeable and discussed.
    So. Do you think I have a chance to "secretly" have a transplant so people know me like that "from the start" and don't really notice I have anything done?
    I'm currently on minoxidil for almost two years and it's sort of a pain for me, my results are far from perfect, and it's hard and uncomfortable for me to use it on daily basis, so I would much prefer to have a transplant if it helps me for at least several years to forget about my hair.
    It's ok for me to become noticeably balding after ~35, but now I'm in my twenties and I would like to maintain good hair for some years.
    Thanks in advance for any good advice.

      Good question. Hair systems can have whatever density you want and the quality of the best hair systems make them indistinguishable from the real thing. The problem I hear is that they are very delicate and only last a short while so they are usually better suited for short term use. The fact is, even celebrities with full heads of hair will use concealers in many cases. I learned, from my various contacts through the years, that Hollywood doesn't like scalp on their heroes. I wrote more about this in my blog article on the subject here... www.hairtransplantmentor.com/matthew-mcconaughey-hair-transplant/

    And if they’re is no work being done, the only other reason would be finasteride is at play (which confuses me just as much because it seemingly has had very little to no effect on the areas which I assumed he would want to target e.g the receding temples)
