  • English is not a tough language to learn and there are so many ways you can make that learning a part of your daily life... While not knowing a language is nothing bad, learning is always good.. especially if you plan to travel places and be part of the global work force. We should also build the habit of doing things ourselves before the world forces us to do it.... In this Video I have tried to explain a few things that can be an educational and entertaining experience to better communicate in English.

    The basic reason is that the fear of English. Start to love the language that you want to study, I have the same problem that we are all studied from state syllabus, the fun factor is that we are in english medium, only the text book was in english. All the classes were taken in malayalam. Even the english classes also. They never encouraged us to speek up in english. And a hateful narration against english which I got from my ancestors and our surroundings.
    Now one of my wish is to improve the linguistic skill in english. So I'm started to make a step forward. Thanks a lot VN❤ for the valuable instructions.

    Good one. Agree with your tips. Another best way for a keralite to learn English is get out of Kerala. Calicut gave you the encouragement to watch Hindi movies. Do a pronunciation one focusing on malayalies who royally screw up some English words, thanks to our media as well.

      In my opinion, there is nothing wrong in wrong pronunciation... as long as you can communicate.... English pronunciation varies across the globe....

    • @PENPOSITIVE
      @PENPOSITIVE  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      "there is nothing wrong in wrong pronunciation" is an oxymoron :) I should have said "there is nothing wrong in a varied pronunciation" :)

    • @salsYThandle
      @salsYThandle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PENPOSITIVE my point is utterly wrong malayali only ones like bank is written ബാങ്ക് instead of ബെയ്ൻക്ക്. Just one of thousands I say. Yes, everyone speaks English with accent, but screwing up a word totally is a different story. This is where our print media contribute heavily to mislead the public. Recently in an article in a leading paper mentioned BeeGees music group ബീഗീസ് ! This is what I meant. Nothing wrong in improvement right?

      @@salsYThandle There are many in US who pronounce Iran and Iraq as ഐറാൻ and ഐറാഖ് :) and have heard many say often as ഓഫ്ടെൻ :) English folks say Americans screwed up their language :) but then in US language also evolves based on usage.... I have seen many people lose confidence to start speaking thinking they will make mistakes.. so if a person knows to speak english they should do is encourage and not find mistakes.. which anyone can do... :)

    • @salsYThandle
      @salsYThandle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PENPOSITIVE I wasn't trying to find mistakes but trying to make it better. Sorry that you got me wrong. According to what I observe people of UK screw up English pronunciation more than anyone else.

    I think you were trying to say 'herculean task'....

    • @PENPOSITIVE
      @PENPOSITIVE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I said Himalayan Task. To be honest what difference does that make ? Hercules is a myth not Himalaya. Just because some people Herculean Task does not mean that is the only way you can speak... Himalayan Task is also used in many places where we use Herculean Task. it is not Himalaya or Hercules that is important it is the meaning conveyed. This is where most people lose it. They forget why language is and get stuck with words :) Language is for communicating a message :)

    • @visualjottings5626
      @visualjottings5626 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PENPOSITIVE Okay brother.
      I absolutely agree with you on that. Language is to communicate and be understood. Because hercules is a mythical hero and Himalaya is a tangible wonder people could relate to latter easily.
      I thought it was a slip of tongue. Because I'm a learner of language, I spotted it immediately thinking that you made a slight mistake. But, even I like to to be flexible and nimble with the use of language. Because many like me focus more on the conventional linguistic rightness, we often fail to be agile and that could sometimes, ruin the creativity and may not serve the purpose of language too. For example, Indians say 'every nuke and corner' ,
      But I heard in England people say 'every nuke and cranny' to refer to anything that is equally prevalent across a region. Thanks for the reply and inducing me to think agilely. Like someone said, a minute of thought is greater than an hour of talk.
