Another great video. This brought tears to my eyes. Missing those times and all of the relatives that are now gone. With the way things are now, don't want to be here anymore.
This just shows how great and simple life was in the 70's. I've never been on the east coast but grew up in Long Beach CA in the late 60's and early 70's and we also had simaler parks. Long Beach Nu-Pike as well as Pacific Park in Santa Monica. Greatest memories of my life. Sun soaked clean beaches and all the cotton candy and rides you could ask for.
A better time for sure. I spent summers at Seaside, late 60's, 70's and 80's. Lots of changes. I remember the carousel, Midway Steaks and the Sawmill most of all. We used to call Midway "The Lemon" for these huge lemons adorning the stand. I think they blew down in a storm one year. Thanks for the smiles.🙂
Love the video but it makes me so sad. Had so much fun at Seaside as a kid and teen. Seaside has really changed, and so many of the friends and relatives I went here with are long gone. I realize now just how lucky I was.
Thank you for sharing this I will cherish all the memories of my family and friends I hope one day to move back stuck in momouth county allenhurst I hate it here
I want to thank you for taking the time to convert old film into this video. I have those same 1s' and 0s' in my mind so thank for flipping that switch in my mind that let me see it.
We lived in Newark back in the mid 70s and it was great when my friends and i would pack in a car and head to Seaside. Even if it was for one day, it was always great.
This is a great home movie and I often wonder if these people will ever know someone filmed them having fun in their lifetime and didn't know it. I bet some are gone and someone at least for a moment recorded them for just a few seconds.
5:31 That is Midway Beach South Seaside Park. I lived right down the street on 2nd Lane. The house on the right is the Petrones my buddy (Johnny/CheeseSteak) and his older brothers JR/Michael/Joey and parents Rose and Angelo, the house is still there in original form. Next door is the Porter's, John (Scobee), Dudley and I forget the oldest brothers name. That house is torn down and a Big house 3 stories has replaced it. The yellow house to the far left was a rental where my girlfriend and her family rented every summer. It is gone too and replaced with a new big 3 story. Beach Keg parties at those houses in the 70's. I grew up surfing Midway Beach, IBSP and Casino Pier, 60's and 70's. Damn shame no one came up with any money to rebuild Casino Pier after hurricane sandy. 7:20 is Midway beach bungalows 4th lane you can see the sign.
I went there before you started working at the ride, but I remember as plain as day how fun the Swiss Bob was and how exciting the person operating the ride made it. "Who wants to go faster", I beleive was toward the end of the ride. It went super fast, then started slowing down to end the ride.
Such a better fun world, so fortunate we were.
