    WOoooo!!! You all went crazy and bought the Murano and it's totally sold out now!! Friendly reminder the tower version is still in stock. Yes I will try to review the other Cabasse speakers that are 50% off on upscales website. I'll post an update in the community section once I have more info. Have a great day everyone!!

      Hey Nemo. These are exiting! Do you think Murano would also be sufficient for home theater with no sub or center for a small room or even a mid size room in the bass department? Or go with the towers for both music and Home theater based on the bookshelf bass output you experienced? Thank you.

      @@chriskiato680 high bro, bookshelves are sold out, generally speaking in theater settings bigger is better so the towers are an easy choice. My buddy got the towers for his theater to replace the Arendal 1961 towers and he's absolutely blown away!

      @@NemoPropaganda Thank you Nemo! I think many of us would be looking for something that does both HT and music well with a quality AV receiver. I was tempted with the ATC's but these appear to be a better overall option. Many thanks! Looking forward to your tower review soon. :) Update: I just compared the dimensions between the Alto and the Murano and the the Altos are wider and significantly deeper. They are huge! These may be overkill for my room. Can you please let me know how deep do you estimate the Murano's go? Thank you.

      @@chriskiato680 bass response is highly room dependant and I don't measure anything so I'd rather not guess but it's bass power in inline with most of the powerful bass speakers like CSS, R3 Meta, Buchardt, Dynaudio Special 40, etc...

    Thanks to Mr. Nemo's passionate sales pitch I too could not resist the 50% off clearance deal at Upscale Audio and my white Murano's arrived this morning. Beautifully finished, well packaged, top quality construction. I put them in place of my KEF R3's. As mentioned by Nemo, the KEF R3's have a lot of bass but not as much as the Murano's. I'm shocked by the amount of bass coming out of these Murano bookshelves. Even with the bass rolled off on my EQ I keep reaching down to my subwoofer to ensure it is off. The Murano's easily go down below 40Hz in my room. The speakers do not come with port plugs, but those would be good to tune down the bass. The Murano's highs and mids are refined and plentiful. Better than the R3's. Thus far I'm getting great sound on simpler, well recorded songs with acoustic instruments (blues, jazz, etc.) and vocals. With the somewhat unruly bass, more complex and louder music (like rock) gets a little too boomy to my taste. But I haven't fully broken in the speakers so we'll see how it goes!

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      let them get 50+ hours on them, things should change a bit, my pair was fully broken in by upscale so I have limited experience with the break-in of the speaker. If the bass is a little ruly just know bass is the thing that changes the most during break-in, at least in my experience but try pulling them forward another inch if you can. I had the same issue with the Buchardt P300 and sean from zerofidelity said to give them 1 more inch, I didnt' think 1 inch would make a difference but oh my goodness it was a dramatic improvement!!

    • @robertjanv
      @robertjanv 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@NemoPropaganda I took your advice and moved them 1-1.5 inch more away from the wall (26" inch total now measured from front baffle) and it truly made a HUGE difference. With EQ defeated on my Vincent SA-32 pre-amp the bass is way more controlled. I've had them on the TS A75 power amp and an ST-70 with Mullard EL34 tubes and it sounds divine!!! Bass is unbelievably deep and complete and textured, but not boomy or overwhelming.

      Also, I got the Cabasse Abyss amplifier to go with my Murano Altos and I really love this integrated amplifier. There is a setting to match the amplifier with the specific Cabasse speakers you own and it does some magic that I'm not prepared to fully understand or explain. The absolute sound has a review of it. Either way, I am loving the synergy between the amp and speakers. The room correction that is built in has been VERY helpful to me. Some songs are just harsher than others because that's how it was recorded. And I am able to go with a few easy clicks and dial it down. The Abyss runs 120 watts into 8ohms and 215 watts into 4ohms I believe.
      And Nemo, last but not least. Thank you brother. You made my audiophile dreams come true buddy. You have my appreciation for all your hard work and labor for the videos you put out to inform your viewers, of which I am but one. Okay, so half off retail there were audio cat nip for me. I bought a pair for a couple weeks and enjoy them a lot. (Cabasse says they extensively break them in at the factory) I'm used to warmer less detailed Proacs, so these are definitely presenting so much more nuance and detail. Great deal and a taste of higher end that you might not normally be willing or able so shell out the bucks for. These were a good match with the Unison Research Due with the right tubes but really hit home on a combination of a Rogue hybrid RP5 preamp and two Belles Aria mono amps. You are essentially buying these at a used price you would expect after a couple years use. Upscale said they are changing lines so once gone, other retailers will be back to retail meaning when the sale speakers are gone you can sell the Muranos on for what you paid for them if you wish. .

      30% is ridiculous..just my opinion. Though I've ordered from places that are similar. I bought an expensive preamp recently. After demoing it I really didn't feel it was worth the price..it's good but a little overpriced in comparison to others I've had or tried. At 25% the $700 restocking fee was just large enough for me to keep it though. And now I'll probably spend another $600 upgrading some parts in it to make me happy with it. So now I'm really over spending. It sucks.

    Hey Nemo, much appreciated on the honest value recommendation. I promise I watch everything and do my homework but I’m stuck on the specs of the Murano. It says the lower end is 48hz vs Buchard s400 which is 33hz +/- 3db. Do you think the measurement of the Murano was taken differently or is it maybe a typo? That’s a really big difference to reconcile or maybe I’m missing something? Thanks as always

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hi bro, this is why I always ignore specs, if you notice in my reviews I never talk about specs or measurements because most of it is meaningless. Don't get me wrong, some measurements can be helpful but most are not and only cause more confusion. Some brands are very conservative with their spec like REL, Rythmik & Cabasse, other brands are very aggressive with their spec, I will not name names here but trust me it's true. Measurements are easy to fudge and measurements can be taken many different ways. Think of tires, many people who are not into cars don't know this but tire sizes of the EXACT same size by different brands are NOT the same size, because brands measure tires differently. 275/30/21 Pilot Sport 4S is almost 1" narrower than 275/30/21 Dunlop SportMax GT. Same tire size bro, dunlop is 1" wider, that's a huge difference! Here is an audio example: Yamaha says their RS202 amp is 100w a channel hmmm, but the 50w RSL IA255.1 plays so much louder also the 50w Emotiva TA1, and the 50w iotaVX SA40, all these amps with less watts play much louder than the Yamaha RS202. Buchardt S400 MK2 bass is great, it's powerful, it extends low yes, but the Cabasse extends lower, can play louder, is fuller sounding, better distinction (contrast), and is tighter overall. S400 MK2 bass cannot compete with Cabasse Murano bass. Forget about specs.

    • @nc3419
      @nc3419 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For WIW, I considered both the Murano and Fritz although larger than what I was targeting. Smaller speakers can do things larger drivers don't as well but these seem to have alot of separation and depth for larger monitors.
      So I dug out all the subjective and "objective" data and opinions I could find and came across a German review site that measured the Murano. I initially thought it would be a speaker too difficult to drive as the Manuf stated these drop below 4 ohms but the site shows it to be much more amplifier friendly, maybe dipping into the upper 4 ohm range but staying over 5 ohms more often. The frequency curve doesn't show an overblown bass so it would be more subdued at lower levels but in line with the overall SPLs. Interestingly, the curve follows my Opticon 1 much along 55hz to 2 kHz with some variation but more similar than expected. Doesn't mean they sound alike as the Murano have more bass punch, texture, etc., etc., but at lower SPLs, there could be some similarities noticed.
      So, from the curve, its seems to be an 87dB +/-2dB speaker per the prescribed way things are measured, 2.43 or something volts approximating a watt of power from around 55 Hz to 3kHz. Where it differs from all my other speakers is in the very upper mids., and highs which show a strong downward slope after 3kHZ at 30 degrees off axis. Angling them towards you should give more airiness and highs but still controls much of the region where sibilants reside. I can see how these come across as sounding more refined especially as you angle them out a bit, which is a good thing.
      The takeaway, is these appear to not be as difficult to drive as one might suspect. They are designed to take alot of power so for those that listen at loud levels, they may do the trick. But at lower to more moderate levels, I think they would be fine and still show much of their capabilities with a lower powered but quality amp, particularly when hooked up to a good sub. Note: Some people think it isn't worth spending thousands on a speaker if one doesn't listen at louder levels where the quality of design and purpose is most fully heard, but these are not quite at that level of speaker either. At its discounted price, its probably the speaker to beat especially for the more "casual audiophile" (whatever that means).
      So not as difficult a load on an amp, probably sb regarded as a 6 ohm speaker, and the large magnet on the woofer would respond better to high current amps but one would still get much of the good mids and highs IMO.
      The Fritz might be a more benign load for tubes. The Fritz is stated to sound slightly laid back according to some but most find it balanced, perhaps a bit softer than a French speaker. Both are fine speakers that punch above their class. I like simple unglossed wood veneers too as gloss wood can have too much glare. Hard to tell on the web but it looked like it was highly reflective. Would have loved the Mahogany unglossed. If I bite on this speaker I would opt for white though I would prefer a black grill for that visual pop. White doesn't show fingerprints as readily as black.
      I also have Focal 807Ws which havn't sold yet and they beat out all other speakers I have compared them too in tonal textures, detail and still vg resolution though not as high resolution as some with electrostatic tweeters, etc. I would expect both Fritz and Murano to be an upgrade but these are still somewhat large monitors. The 807W is a big speaker. Hence one of the reasons I wanted to downsize in addition to getting more stage depth and separation (I like hearing spatial effects in the recording) which sometimes smaller drivers can do better although so far I have taken a hit on tonal textures and/or some transparency. Will have to see what I end up with.
      With a sub, the old Opticon 1 isn't bad. Doesn't do large performances as well but not bad at all. The newer ones were made more refined and need more power to play louder. Seems companies are tending towards refinement of the highs these days but some go overboard with the end result sounding too dark for me anyhow.

For the price hard to beat. I don't expect a tight layered bass but shouldn't be a loose mess. Stated to have good depth as well. Could use without a sub. A good budget introductory speaker.
      The next move up is kind of strange as it seems to lack the strong lows of the cheaper model. Probably more resolving, better imaging but there are discontinuities in its presentation from others' view. definitely need a sub.
      The Murano is the more audiophile speaker I suppose, upping the game in each area. My question is it easy to drive or does it need a beast of an amp?

At normal volumes (75-80dB) it sounded beautiful and bass control was just okay and more fun than accurate but mids & highs were beautiful. Could I find the limit of the amp? Yes, pushing to 85dB seemed to be the limit of what an 8w 300b could handle with this speaker. Strong bass soaks up wattage quickly so if you're an 80dB and under listener I think it's just fine but if you want more dynamic headroom you may wish for a more sensitive speaker or something that doesn't have such strong bass. The Bisons will have the same problem with a 300B but having a little less bass may get you a little more output but I think the results of using a 300b amp with either speaker would be close in terms of output capability.

      @@mikej8170 Mike, my Murano's will be here Tuesday, and I believe the Abyss will be here Thursday or Friday. I spent a few more hours digging into Cabasse and this amplification and DSP. They use the same amplification and DSP in the Abyss that is used in their $35000 speaker setup. Of course the Abyss is less wattage, but it is the same design and sound signature.
      Then this DSP, it was designed in collaboration with Canon, the camera guys. Canon is heavy into this technology, and Cabasse has a venture working with Canon for both R&D and manufacturing. That is the secret sauce to their musical magic, this close relationship with Canon. When I discovered this, I bought the Abyss. Canon is not going anywhere any time soon, and also explains the regular updates to the software.
      Cabasse may be a small company in regards to audio gear in the USA, but in reality they have quite the presence in Europe and Asia. In France alone they have over 600 distributors. And after this sale is finished at Upscale, I think that will be it for them here in the states. That is the other reason I jumped on purchasing the Abyss, as it might become rather difficult to obtain here in the near future.
      I will let you know how this goes, and I can compare it to my Roon Nucleus One in regards to upsampling and room correction. I have a feeling the Abyss is going to walk all over Roon. I believe this lack of full Roon certification has not helped with sales here in the USA for Cabasse. If you are a Roon fan or not, it does make a difference, and I can tell you, going with the Roon Nucleus One was a real sonic game changer for myself.
      Let's keep in touch. ;-)

    @NemoPropaganda My man! I've been listening to my new Muranos all day. I replaced my LS-50 Metas with them. Running though a Parasound Halo Hint 6 I decided to screw it and unplugged my Micro 3000 and turned up the bass and treble to max (oh the heresy!). I put on Evanescence-Synthesis (Live). It has Amy Lee's soaring voice, piano, strings, and some rock elements. I think it covers many bases. These speakers sounded EXPANSIVE! They completely eliminated any sibilance or shrillness from Amy's voice that were present with the Metas at high volume. Caught new details from the orchestra as well. And bro, these things can take the power and get loud...1000 watts max! More bass than the Metas in my room. I can't see any reason why I would want to replace these speakers. With the sub hooked up and everything hi/low passed they are perfect! Thank you so much. I can't erase the smile from my face 😁

    If someone's just running a generic $600 A/V Receiver (eg Onkyo/Yamaha), would it be pretty unwise to purchase Hi End speakers like these? (in other words, would you do it yourself?) I'm guessing it probably wouldn't make sense to purchase these, expecting them to sound amazing, with a 'Consumer' Receiver 😵‍💫

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      of course a $600 AVR will not get you the very best out of any speaker but if that is the amp you have then who cares :) Most of us cannot afford to upgrade everything at the same time. You can upgrade your system in whatever order makes you happy my bro!! One of my good friends has the Focal Kanta No1 and used a very inexpensive AVR for the first year, he was very happy. About 1.5 years later he upgraded to the Billie Amp and loves it even more now but he also enjoyed the Kanta very much using the cheap amp because he liked the Kanta sound. Hope that helps, try not to get fomo, hobboies are supposed to be fun!!

      metal no problem!! I listen to Arch Enemy (old singer), All That Remains (don't judge me), and old Cradle of Filth. All sounded great!! As far as wattage I used amps with as little as 8w and as much as 250w but ultimately your listening habits and room size will determine how much wattage you really need. Metal guys tend to like louder so I suggest an honest 50w or more, something like the CHoco Emei would be a great fit or either Galion amp if you want tubes.
