  • As an artist grows and becomes more successful, we shed some problems but we also attract new ones so I wanted to make a video about the 6 main dangers of success that I’ve experienced throughout the years and how to overcome or avoid them as well.
    Sending positive vibes to everyone!

That tip about taking on too much is so right, but you also forgot to mention the danger of burnout from it ;)

This video has really nice down-to-earth advice! People with such values (stability over growth) should be put in charge of the economy as well!

Great advice on all fronts. Only discouraging part is figuring out how to build an inner circle before you become successful...

Thank you for sharing. I'm mostly self taught. ( Books and tutorials) I agree that goals are important.

Great video! Thanks for all the tips. Good to hear and read in the comments that more people are struggling with these kinds of things. Saying no to great assignments or clients I find very hard even though it has a bad effect on my time to develop skills and personal life. More tips are always welcome. Thanks again!

This is a great video, Bobby.
I'm 20 and I want to make a living as an artist. I'm taking some beginning drawing and painting classes, so I'm hoping that'll help me get better. I don't even have a following yet.
Interestingly, I was born a lefty and taught to be a righty. I'd always done a lot of things left-handed naturally, but I didn't figure it out until high school. Since then, I've been learning to draw with my left hand. (My right-handed writing and drawing is neat and exact, but my hand cramps and it's not natural, whereas my left-handed drawings are loose and light, but I have little control or confidence with it.
Would you have any advice for a beginner artist? I'm not confident that I can be a successful-enough artist to make that my career. Any tips?
    Thanks for reading!

Thanks a lot Bobbie for doing this video. Please suggest how to come out of Artistic Dip or burnout so that we start fresh. Sometimes too much of art makes my interest dip for considerable time. Please suggest.

uhmm Bobby may i ask what is your indicator (beside noticing your skills improved) to raise your rate?
im kinda feel shy to say this, specially when my recurring clients are used to with the rate that im offering on the past months..

Sun Beam (pretty late) but I can give you advice on figure drawing if you want that
buy books on realism, and those that study anatomy and shape buidling as an art. Copy realism artists like Leonardo da vinci. Literally, copy out their drawings, keep practising. Then move on to life drawing. I say lessons are best, make sure the instructor is good too, because it's always nice to ask them for tips, as if you choose the best teacher, they'll be a fountain of knowledge for you. In your spare time, get a notebook and sketch strangers, friends, family. Try them in different techniques and styles.

What do we do about these very popular bigots who discriminate by race and gender under the guise of feminism?

These are interesting points to share. When you are struggling to make ends meet, to make yourself known out there, being successful is regarded as an "interesting problem to have", but not as an immediate, possible reality of yours. And what if you actually strike it big? Then comes another problem: not being able to handle it right. What's good about overnight success if the next stop is crash and burn? What you really want is to use it to your advantage and to build upon it for a longstanding, satisfactory career. These points in that sense are a great start. Thanks again Bobby :)

I watch the expansion mistake so much in my city. It seems as if they do out of pride more than a motivation to grow or as a wise choice. Those place usually close.
