Y’all are making Florida living look very nice. Kid teaching Crak’n lessons mom filming dad steaming. I sure hope that the WHOLE World sees this video and sees a Real American Florida Family. This is coming at you October 6 24’ with Hurricane Milton coming across the middle of Florida. Y’all be safe and check on your friends & neighbors.
You guys are great together. I don't think I would watch it if there were only one. The both of you makes the show, thank you so much for letting us watch. I tried to crab for 2 weeks one time I caught 8 crabs. I really didn't know what I I'm doings but I love crabs. Thanks for letting us tag along along
Been recreational crabbing a lot over my 53 yr life and all we have ever used was chicken necks, stays in the traps better, and we have always had great success.
Love to watch your videos. You keep my memories of spending my summers in Perry, Dark Island, and Keaton Beach in the 60's and 70's alive and close to my heart. Thank you Ian and Crystal.
Hey Tug! It’s Richard & Liz up here on the Sapelo Sound in Georgia! Last year I gave you my grandfather’s Maryland style steam recipe. How about giving it a try??!! Here’s the recipe: equal parts beer, vinegar & water. Handful of Old Bay in the water, palm size salt & pepper. Give it a shot! 💪💪👍🏻 Crabbing in the Sapelo Sound is unbelievable!!
The sight of those traps brimming with Florida blue crabs is truly exhilarating! Your skill and patience in setting up and checking the traps are evident in the fantastic haul. It’s moments like these that remind us of the joys of fishing and the rewards of perseverance. And I am Floating Village Life.
I watch these videos with my mouth watering I love crab but about 3 years ago I had a reaction to shell fish and can no longer eat them so I am glad you can eat them for me.
Tug, if you ever decide to go crabbing in North Jacksonville, take a smaller aluminum boat and go hit the Broward River up towards Dunn Ave. You’ll see what I’m talking about, coming from an Ol Jville boy. Thanks for the awesome content!
I just got back from Merritt Island, I came home through Jacksonville, crossed the St. John’s river many times. You are blessed with a good life. Top 50 maybe 😂
That's a happy haul right there! We called them out at the spring at lake George!!! I love catching blue crabs in the river they are so much sweeter and full of meat! We kept about 6 dozen, we was literally dip netting them as they came by in the spring. Jumbos!!!
The way my family (we're Chinese-Canadian) has always eaten blue crabs is by scrubbing them clean with a brush, steaming them whole, and then dipping them in a ginger-scallion soy sauce. But to each his own, I say.
As a Maryland girl who moved to Florida almost 20 years ago, this made me a little jelly…and hungry. Don’t have a boat, so I occasionally go crabbin old school style with some chicken and string off the dock, just like when I was a kid. Loved the video guys, just gained a new sub. PS: I definitely don’t agree with your cleaning style, DO approve of the Old Bay.😂
Yes crabs do grow big at the Power plant. Me and my mom would always go to the bridge near the Northside generating station off Hecksher Drive. Huge crabs ALL the time.
That’s my ramp. Chasing reds right there all year long. That’s the only way to eat crabs for sure. 5 crab traps would save me over 100 a month. That’s what I use for bait. Love the videos. Keep it coming.
I'm from Baltimore Maryland and yes you're washing away all the good stuff.... but when you cook them you should also use beer to steam them in, also correct with the obay
You are rising to stardom Ian! I just logged on and you posted this video at 1st it said "3" minutes ago, now it says I Hr, but you are already at 516 likes! Keep up the great work!
I was in Ocean Springs MS once and caught a bunch of catfish off of a friends dock. I decided to try using them for bat in crab traps and in an overnight soak, we were amazed at how many crabs were in the traps (20 - 25) in each.
@@TugTrashOutdoors We had us a big old boil and nearly covered the top of a picnic table with crabs, ears of corn, some onions and celery and Dixie beer to wash it down.
challenge! Put 2 traps right next to each other... one chicken, one with what ever fish you normally use. Post which does best. Do a whole run of 5 (10) traps like that and see which is actually king of bait.
Generally, when I go crabbing different to your blue crabs I catch mud crabs. I use chicken frames and they are really cheap because it’s the byproduct of getting everyone’s food but I normally use a combination of fish and chicken to catch the giant mud crabs.
I have grown up fishing in the Lowcountry since I was a baby and I have found the crabs are KINDA like the fish...different bait different days....chicken or smoked ham hocks work great as do the local fish like mullet....some times the mullet does better...sometimes the chicken....its def nice when you can just cast for the mullet and get them for pretty much free lol
Hey bud I'm ben, Florida man born and raised. I've always used chicken when blue crabbing and the stinkier the better. The sent spreads further in water. If ya ever want another fishing partner, my wife Crystal and I love going out. We are in the spring hill. And have a place in palmetto fl super close to the skyway so we are all over the place.
In my opinion, frozen pogies otherwise known as menhaden are the best crab bait. Most bait stores sell them and they are very oily. That’s what most commercial crabbers use for crab bait.
My parents and I crabbed back in the 80’s and 90’s. We used chicken and we filled 5 gallon bucks every time. We never used the traps you are. Ours were pyramids that opened flat so we watched for oil bubbles and pulled three at a time.
I KNEW i knew that view of the power plant! Shout out to Port St. John and Corky Bells! You want to see something crazy!? Go check out the river when the phosphate is high! Everything in the water leaves light trails as it moves through the water! Crazy place, Brevard county!
When I moved to Maryland all the idjits were hammering crabs, I made up my own crab disassembly process and it too used water to wash out the guts, and that disgusting mustard. When you have lots of extra crab, harvest the meat and freeze it. When you want a great crab treat, thaw those out and get the excess water out. Then dip those crab in heavy cream, the type you wip, then dredge them with a flour mix with dry mustard and very very finely chopped onion, put in some Old Bay if you like, JO is way too salty for me. Then add a tiny bit at a time more of the heavy cream until you can make a patty. Fry that in gobs of butter, salt them a bit after frying if you like. No junk filler like crackers of bread crumbs etc. Just crab and a dusting of flour. Enjoy.
You guys are so fun to watch. Used to crab up in Jax and now live in New Smyrna. I usually start from September to January here for the big ones. I love crabbing and so does my girls so fun. We steam them then clean them out and put a mixture of vinaigrette old bay butter and garlic in the cavity then warm back up in oven to soak it all up. Sooo good, keep the cool videos coming Tug
Well I broke down, even though I’m not near the ocean had to get some seafood! Touché Tug Trash had to make a feast for my beautiful lady as well! Much love
Yes fresh chicken is good !!! South Carolina we were on the ocean and caught tons of blue crabs!!! The salt water gators were watching us!!!, good thing we had head lamps and a spear

October 6 24’ with Hurricane Milton coming across the middle of Florida. Y’all be safe and check on your friends & neighbors.
Florida is gonna need some help in a few days and much of the state is still cleaning up from
Helene
When you cook chicken wings, keep the raw wing tips for your crab traps. You don't need a lot of chicken in your bait bin to draw em in.
I know where your at Brother can fool a crabber 😂😂 Floridians unite!!🤙🏼🇺🇸🤙🏼

1000% my most favorite couple on any youtube channel! Love you guys and never miss a post!
We appreciate you!
I’m from Louisiana and we do cook crab differently but will try your method. Looked delicious. Love how your daughter gave a claw cracking tutorial.
Thanks so much
Been recreational crabbing a lot over my 53 yr life and all we have ever used was chicken necks, stays in the traps better, and we have always had great success.
Either chicken or turkey necks! The turkey necks stay together in the water pretty well.
Dungeness crabs step right up for backs and necks. They like it fresh best too, not rotten.
Both y'all breath of fresh air
This video was good for my heart. What a great couple.
Wow, thank you!
TT&C I Love your video, your both down to earth!!!!! I would love to hang out with you guys, Fishing, Hunting, Crabbing, And eating!!!!!!!! LOL
Thank you
Years ago we found a pier on the St Johns by New Casle Island and we would catch 60 in an hour when they were running.
Love to watch your videos. You keep my memories of spending my summers in Perry, Dark Island, and Keaton Beach in the 60's and 70's alive and close to my heart. Thank you Ian and Crystal.

Yes they are!
Ian, that was a great catch. Thank you for all the good content. You're the best my friend. God Bless

What a catch . You’ve been lucky to get many Crabs . Yummy food. Stay safe and Blessed.

Definitely top 75 😆
Ha
Y'all are such a great family! I enjoy every video! God's blessings!
Nice catch!! You can also batter and deep fry the crabs. You pick them the same way and they are really good like that!!
Thanks for the tip

@@TugTrashOutdoors The way you cook them is interesting as well. I've never had Old Bay seasoning before.
I love your puppy with his paws on the table

Love watching local videos! Shrimp should be running soon though that area
Can't wait!

Thanks so much!
@@TugTrashOutdoors you’re welcome ☺️
Again great content and krystal keeps you in check
Yeahhhhh
Shrimp heads work well - rule of thumb; fresh bait=fresh crabs
I’m getting such great tips! Now, all I need is a boat, a captain, bait, traps etc…te he. Great video you two are a hoot! Living the salt life…enjoy
“Krystal got crabs”😂

Good idea!
I use chicken also! String or trap! Either way the crabs are good. Lol
Generally, when I go crabbing different to your blue crabs I catch mud crabs. I use chicken frames and they are really cheap because it’s the byproduct of getting everyone’s food but I normally use a combination of fish and chicken to catch the giant mud crabs.
I think that your mud crabs are like a cross between blue crabs and out stone crabs. For stone crab I use pigs feet and fish for bait

You bet
I use fresh fish or turkey necks for crabs I love fishing with crabs to
My guess was 27 total. Wow we were all wrong. That was a great haul!
Squirrels are free hoss, love the channel

Save all those shrimp heads! That’s what commercial crabbers use up here in MD.
Yep!
Hey Krystal & Tug! They way you cooked the crabs is perfect!

I love fishing the St. Johns and in my 40 years of fishing I have even fisd Palatka area too.
I believe chicken is what most crab fisherman use in NC’s Pamlico Sound. We are second in harvest weight to the Chesapeake.
