Stephen Kiprotich...totally adorable!!! Uganda deserves a champion like this. To be so vibrant and positive after running 26 miles in the heat is an Olympic accomplishment in itself. This is truly inspiring.
Kiprotich, you made all Ugandans so proud! Very well done sir!! He is the second to win not to mention he had little support but he still pulled through not mention he broke the world record!!
I never thought that the average speed they run is around 20km/h man now I respect them much much more because sustaining this speed is something amazing. For example me, I can only run at 20km/h on a treadmill for around 5 minutes and these guys run for 2 hours
It seems strange, but its actually a pretty fair argument. I remember when watching the event, the commentators talked about how Kenyans arent really that happy about training in the heat, so they would always train in the morning and evening to avoid the heat, plus most of them are in altitude, so its not as hot. Although, im still not sure about the accuracy of that statement, but heat was the reason for both the bad marathon for makau in london, and mutai in boston that year.
kiprotich is a ugandan. if u have a prob with it, go to kapchorwa u will find he's former school were he studied wen he had given up on athletics. u ganda can actually run 100 metres, steeple chase an long distance. wait until we bring you karamojongs and acholis who will break your world records. songs kiprotic and all the other guys wh share names with kenyans since u share the border at bukwo district.
Is this something non-achievable to run for 5 minutes at this speed? As you said, running for 20km/hr for 2 hours is amazing and this is what requires some serious athletic background. So running for 5 minutes is a triffle and can be achieved by most amateurs. Unless anaerobic endurance is never worked out.
20km/hr for 5 minutes isn't very hard, you don't need a serious athletic background. I run 12 km/hr on average on my longer runs (around 10 k runs), and I'm not in my best shape at the moment. These runners though are natural runners, and few people on the planet can run like that!
Sasa Naomi. There are Kalenjin people on the Uganda side, the Sebei. Same names like Kenyan Kalenjin people, they speak Kalenjin but a little bit different way.
Yeah, but you said 20km/h for five minutes, that's very easy, almost every person I run with manages that, and my 12km/h is on longer runs (10k or more). And I'm not in good shape nowadays, at school I would run above 20km/h on the 3k competitions, which is around a 10 minute run.
From a Kalenjin, I can tell you he is Ugandan....we have Kalenjins in Uganda....the Sabiny....they speak Kalenjin but with a different accent though. Just fyi bro.

20km/h for 5 minutes it's better than a sub-5 minute mile. Not many amateurs can do that all.

Just wait for Rupp if he so decides to run the marathon. He has only done one half marathon and ran a 60:30!!! America!!!
Stephen Kiprotich is kenyan?
There are Kalenjin people on the Uganda side. So even though he is Kalenjin like the Kenyan runners, he is Ugandan by Geography.
@@fitstar7541 okay sorry I thought he is kenyen thanks for clarification!
@@dr.mohamedaitnouh4501 You are welcome Doc.
