It seems this year that the smaller brands were more enthusiastic presenting new gear. Also some of the bigger brands you mentioned have such a huge presence on social media that they now probably don't need to have a display at Namm show.

Most of the brands you listed in your first bullet point, Jackson, Charvel, EVH, are owned by Fender. So if Fender aren't going, none of these brands are going as well and that also includes Gretsch. Marshall is busy making Bluetooth speakers and refrigerators, honestly wouldn't be surprised if they stopped making amps all together at some point. Gibson/Epiphone decided to hold their own exclusive launch party instead. But your right, these brands showing up would have made the show a little more exciting.

Neural DSP confirmed in their September 2023 news update that plug-in compatibility on the Quad Cortex will be "block-based", meaning the amp models and effects will be in a block format in the grid (where you can freely move them around). The QC's screen does not have the resolution to accurately display the plug-ins' GUI. Hope this helps.

Gibson and Fender (and their sub-brands) have zero excuse for not going to NAMM.
Fender, EVH, Jackson, and Squire is literally not too far from the convention. The costs to set up a booth would be far less than most brands with booths because they don’t have to ship products and displays from half way around the country or world. Just gotta load up some cars or uHauls, drive from Calabasas to Anaheim, setup, and done. Instead, they cheaped out or didn’t want to be bothered.
Gibson also literally went to LA and did an entire PRIVATE, invite-only event of their own to unveil their lineup. They probably spent more money to make that happen - renting a space, decorating, I’m sure there was some kind of food/drink, having displays made, event staffing, shipping all the guitars/amps/displays across the country and back, flying Gibson staff and board members to LA and back, etc. . . . rather than just showing up to NAMM. Gibson definitely dropped far more coin on their “red carpet” style breakaway event and invested more time/effort in planning and hosting an event that was clearly meant to attract investors (remember that Gibson is supposedly up for sale?!). And even if they wanted to do that, would it have killed them to drop a few more bucks at that point to show up to NAMM and have a booth too?! They were already in the neighborhood after all!
Yeah, zero excuse for all of the above parties.

    • @meowmeow147

@@LeirbagFR I’m sure you kill it with your Squire. 20 years is a ton of experience. I bet you can play any type of music when you’ve been playing for that long. A Taylor GS Mini was my 1st guitar I got 3 months ago but I wanted an electric as well so I’ve been saving for an E-II because I’ve heard if you get a guitar you’re attracted to that you really want then it drives you to play it more often so hopefully that’s the case so I can improve. I’ll pretty much be playing this guitar for years to come, especially since new left-handed models are rare so I don’t have much option compared to right-handed guitar models. I hope you can obtain your dream guitar if it is not already your wonderful Squire!

From all the videos being uploaded about NAMM 2024, it seems like the big players have deserted NAMM and NAAM is now dominated by the boutique builders who seem to be creating more innovative guitars. After owning 1 LP, 1 SG, 1 Tele, 1 Strat, more releases of these same models are just different colors of the same guitar. The boutique builders are trying to create different things and mostly you directly contact the company owners for service unlike the big guys.

There was nothing NEW and even mildly game changing at the show. Add to that 99% of everything there was deliberately introduced or leaked days and in some cases weeks before the show. I write reviews and even gossip and I had zero new to write about after the show other than the odd variation of an already available guitar.
Paint jobs, pickups or some pointless high end limited edition do NOT make a great show.
A great show makes us change brand loyalties by buying from someone new or from an established company that never offered us products that ever took our interest.
The general public do not care that good or bad it is a very pleasant party for a very few people. So You tubers telling us they had fun means squat!!!!
If NAMM is to have a point it should have all makers but only allow them a small booth big enough for what they offer new. In short we do not need to see another Strat because it is a darker shade of red this year. Such a show would have millions and millions riveted to You Tube and all the music media.
