Yeah, I could not agree more … I am really super picky when it comes to my metal guitar sound. Will always love my tube heads that I collected over time. But things change and in ear is now a new standart for rehearsals and live shows. I was first super sceptical when I good my QC. I made a capture of my favorite amp and overdrive … also loaded up my all time favorite IR and then it happened - on my first rehearsal the sound that I had in my in ears and also at home on my studio monitors where just absolutely perfect. Zero difference to the real deal. From that day on I was in love 💜. Cannot recommend it enough!
Have you thought about trying those footswitch button toppers on the upper row of switches? You know, those big, multi-colored thingers. They might give them some extra height, and make the top row useable on the fly without fear of hitting buttons on the bottom row accidentally. I'm not sure how far they stick up, but it might be worth looking into.
Hey what’s going on X, hope that you are feeling better👍🏻 I haven’t yet dipped my feet into amp moduling but soon would love to try one out. Doesn’t matter what module I would be trying - would just like to try one period. Man those guitars are 🔥 Silver burst is one of my favorite colors on a guitar finish. Thanks for sharing, it’s always a pleasure to see a new XRC video uploaded to TH-cam. Those are some sick riffs my friend, so until next time… Stay metal and don’t forget to riff🤘🏻🎸Have you tried the new Fractal FP yet?, it looks and sounds badass!! Let us know if you can get your hands 🙌🏻 on one?. TY X!❤👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
Just got myself a Hotone Ampero. Considered spending the extra money for the QC….slowly getting back into modellers after being hooked on my tube amp for the last couple years. Maybe when I’m ready I’ll upgrade to the Quad, glad you’re enjoying it despite some of the cons.
What do you think of the Hotone Ampero? I'm looking into getting a modeler myself but can't decide if the Ampero 2 stage would be a solid budget friendly version of the QC. I love the aesthetic of the ampero 2 and how user friendly it seems. I might see about trying them out soon
@@brandonchapman6081I adore mine. A couple of TH-camrs did direct comparisons bw the QC and Ampero, and the difference was negligible, I almost even liked the Ampero more: it sounded a tad brighter. At a 3rd of the cost of a QC, if you’re not a diehard Neural guy, I think the decision is pretty easy. But if you love Neural and want the sim tones in a modeller, the QC will give you that. At the same time, you can profile the neural sims w the Ampero, so….personal preference, but my money went to Ampero.
@transmundanemusic awesome man! Thanks for the response! That's insane you can profile the Neural sims lol, I didn't even think of that. I'll look more into both units but I'm leaning more towards the Ampero 2
I'm mostly into Boss stuff and the QC was a pleasant surprise with its capabilities, size and price compared to the FM9. I agree with your statement regarding this device, I would add only one thing: if Neural DSP made the electronics and Boss made the housing and foot (and other) switches, such as on the Boss GT-10, so I can't accidentally click on something unwanted - well, that would be the device. However, they went to reduce the dimensions, which I appreciate, but hitting the right switch in the dark of the stage, and not clicking something else, is really ... a skill!
The pedal placemente and the lack of certain FX is the only thing that keeps me from doing a full switch to it. I tried different toppers but I haven't found a type that works well with it, so I just stick to the Helix in projects where I need to do a lot of fx or scene switching. At the end of the day, in a live mix, anything sounds great if you know what your are doing
What’s up my metal brother from another mother.? Have you seen the new Fractal FP?, because it seems pretty cool 😎. I would ❤ to see you get your hands on one and do a comparison video, or a review. Until then…. Stay safe, Stay metal, and don’t forget to riff/shred.!!?
Modelers take time to 'fully bake' per se. Just look at where the helix is now after all these years, same with Fractal. QC and Fender's Tone Master Pro are catching up quickly. I take my Fractal FM3 with me in my carry on all the time. I still have my QC hoping for more plugin compatibility soon. I think the Fractal has the slight edge right now for everything but Metal tones. I have owned every major modeler. ToneMasterPro has the best UI interface by far though.
Have you tried Solutek buttons. I like the silver ones that are flatter but you can get higher ones and rubber inserts with 3 screws. I got 12 in a plastic box for $24. Idk how much they are now. Also, the top row is raised a bit. Rabea I’m sure you know has size 13 ft and he specifically said he has no issues. There’s not really a big difference than say the helix. Or do the midi thing. I don’t. I’m using my amps most of the time. No gigging. Quad is more for fun. I want to enjoy my amps and the way they take pedals. But the quad stays. I remember you going to Russos. I haven’t gotten there yet.
@@vitaliistep i ended up pulling the trigger on the QC after selling my kemper. to be honest, if it wasn't for the easy-travel benefit of the QC, I wouldn't have sold my kemper. they're both amazing at the end of the day. it just comes down to what you're planning on using the QC for.
Hey Xander. How do you manage your input stage with hot pickups? I have an Schecter seven string guitar with Fishman fluence modern pickpus and I can't figure out how to set the input gain staging. No matter what I do, the result is the same, it sounds overgained and muddy, like there was an LPF set at 2khz. I tried setting the input knob to 0. I tried to set to 2.80 as Ed S says on his video. Also I tried the two mentioned options and then lowering the input trim on the quad cortex and the result was alway the same. Will you help me explaining to me your gain staging? By the way I loved the tones on this video! Greetings from Mexico city!
Not sure if you can on your guitar, but when I want to get a less hot pickup sound, I just move my pickup slight further away from the string aka wind them in closer to the body of the guitar with the screws either side of the pickup.

Barefoot buttons, they work great on the quad for separation
Button toppers, bro. You can get staggered ones, and even custom ones from guys that post on the FB neural community. ✌️
Check out magnetic button toppers, raises the back buttons higher up so you have control over front vs back row. Best solution ive seen yet
